Yes you can record from multiple sources with an MD such as line in, mic in and USB (with a NetMD).

However, you wont be able to convert your ATRAC music files (MD can only play ATRAC coded music files) to MP3 that easily. There is no "official" upload feature in MDs. You will have to connect the MD from the line out to your soundcards line in and then record in real time and in analog. If your soundcard has a digital in you can record songs digitally. Then after recording them as WAV files you can then convert them to MP3s...

Thanks for replying.

In order to be able to transfer digitally, I'd have to have an MD w/ optical out, correct? Which would preclude me from getting a portable....

I think I can live w/ that. Any reccomendations on a Sony model given that this is what I mostly want to do w/ it?

Thanks again.

if you want all the bells and whistles of a flagship model take a look at the N910 model...very nice model that one...=) BerkY owns one and will back me up on this one hehe...^^ you could alternatively look at the Sharp DR580 as well...that is also one fine model...but the bottom line is both of them are sufficient enough for wot u need 2 do...

Yes Majestic is right, the N910 is a great model. Has all the feaures of the N10 plus a better battery life (which is very important for me). As Majesitc said Sharp also have great models but I reckon Sony's service and support is better than Sharp's. Thats why i went for the Sony. Bottomline: N910 - highly recommended...

Cheers

BerkY
