That seems to be a relatively common problem that we haven't found a good solution to yet. I suggest upgrading your software to whatever the latest version is. Also, if you still can't get that to work, try making a minidisc using Simple Burner (using Dino's method, if you want to copy over mp3's) and see if that works. I doubt it's a driver problem if you've been able to make MD's with that driver before.

Oh, and your caps lock key is on.

i too have had HUGE problems with my NET MD MZ N10 transfering files. sonic stage i found was, well, crap to be honest. i'm now using openmg 2.2 which i downloaded. doesn't seem to bring on the 'blue screen of death' that sonicstage had a habit of doing.

And while i'm at it i've been reading about transfering SP ATRAC on other posts using openmg and sonicstage. although i do have the option to do this it never works properly. some tracks work some get the 'failed to write data to device' message (after file conversion, in the writing phase). trying to record again without undocking from the USB cradle and docking again results in the blue screen of death (with sonic stage) and crashing of openmg (when using the openmg jukebox).

what terrible software. any ideas about why this is? i sent my first MZN10 back to amazon for this reason but then the second did the same. recording ATRAC3 is fine mind. but i bought this player to record disks so i could listen to SP music in my SP only car stereo. most frustrating.

my other current problem is the 'stuck at 9% issue' songs i've already transfered (and hence converted mp3->ATRAC3) seem to be affected. whilst songs i've imported and not converted aren't. i have a feeling this is a problem when WIN XP crashes and uses its system restore. it seems to currupt the openmg/sonicstage database. unfortunately i've got an ATI 9700 which tends to overheat and cause these problems regularly. perhaps i should get a new graphics card.

sony do have a database correction tool included for this 9% issue (i forget the name but its in the openmg folder and listed on the sony troubleshooting site) which needs to connect to the net to work. it also doesn't seem to do a very good job of this either (ie my converted tunes still won't record to MD and stop at 9%). it also asks to uinstall and reinstall openmg jukebox when its finished and say 'yes' when it asks to keep the database or not. so now i have to say 'no' and have to reimport my database of songs which is 6400 tracks! i can't be doing that everytime my system crashes.

so:

1) anyone got any help for recording SP disks?

2) any other way of getting round the 9% issue?

3) any other software available that actually WORKS?

4) are sony a bunch of idiots or is it MS XP?

5) what simple burner about/for?

1) try updating the program and see if it helps if all else fails there is always realtime SP recording... jk jk...

2) not too sure, try updating the program as i've mentioned above...u could try other programs but they don't transfer in SP modes...only SonicStage and OpenMG do so...

3) afraid not...the only software that allows NetMD transfers are marketed by Sony except for RealOne...

4) Sony's software is dodgy...it's not XP...

5) Simple Burner is another Sony software that allows you to transfer music across but only in LP2 and LP4...
