PDOG58
I am a multi-media coordinator at a church. We currently offer our services to individuals in cassette format. I am researching switching our recording over the MD format. However, people still request copies on cassette. Are their any decks out there that have an MD recorder AND a cassette recorder? I would like to record onto MD, but copy it onto cassette.
mAjEsTiC
not to my knowledge i don't think...you have to have two seperate units to be able to do this...i'm not entirely sure if the mini systems that have Tuner/MD/CD/Tape capabilities will allow recording from MD->Tape... Guest Anonymous
Not to my knowledge - I think most systems that feature MD only have MD and CD, not cassette. I could be wrong though. The best for sound quality and functionality would be to buy an MD deck and a cassette deck seperately. Link them up and then you can at least adjust the record level to cassette. I'm guessing you must have some kind of mixer already? Once you've calibrated the cassette input/MD output, you shouldn't need to adjust levels ever again (unless someone comes in and fiddles about with it all!). Seriously though, switching to MD as your recording format is a good idea, especially switchinbg from cassette. MD is very reliable (compared to computer recording!) and sturdy. Not to forget it's digital and won't degrade, no matter how many times you play it. Bare in mind though, that MDs tend to record only up to 80 minutes of stereo, unless you buy a MDLP (long-play) system. I hope that's of help! Chris. Guest Anonymous
There have been several micro/mini systems released over the past 3-8 years which included this feature. I live in the UK so I don't know if the models I own (Sony CMT-SD1 micro system including TC-SD1 Cassette deck and MDS-SD1 Mini Disc deck. Also an Aiwa XR-HG7MD mini system) were available in all countries. I have seen others available as well but I think the best idea is to buy a mini Hi-fi with either MD or cassette and seperately buy an add on deck. This is what I did with my first micro system.
