PDOG58
The specs say that this Hi-MD player/recorder has an "AM/FM/TV/Weather band tuner". I know I can record onto MD via Mic and Line-in, btu can i tune it to a radio station and hit record? I dont see that mentioned anywhere one way or the other. mAjEsTiC
not too sure as this couldn't be done on the current NF810...
actorlife
Majestic, Which Sony model would you choose out of all of the HI-MD's? Your top 4 in order and why?
mAjEsTiC
i would say NH1, NH900, NHF800 and NH3D...hmmm...well the NH1 looks like an interesting unit but the internal li-ion battery is something that i don't look fwd to so the NH900 is next on the list but i don't really like the way the front face looks...it's a bit cluttered for me (i like my products to have a simple/streamlined look), the NHF800 is interesting because it has the tuner...would like to know how it performs but it probably would have less functions than that of the 1st 2 unit, and the NH3D is a download only unit which is last on my list (as i do require something small and light with recording features)
actorlife
Yes exactly i would choose NH1 or NH900 they would be my choice, but maybe 900 first and wait till Sharp comes out with a better one. the 900 goes for $250.00 right? mAjEsTiC
yep more or less...i just like the clean design on the NH1...but yeh i would be very interested in the Hi-MD units that Sharp and Panasonic release as well...
Guest Anonymous
Majestic, Have you tried those Sharp four pole earbuds? from audiocubes. if so are they any good? I heard great separation on four poles. Check this out Drooling... http://www.minidisc-canada.com/org/12.jpg
mAjEsTiC
i dunno which specific buds u were referring to..the only one that i have tried are the ones that came bundled with my DS8 and they're pretty good...if u were talking about those ones that cover ur ears (like Sony and Panasonic's Clip Ons) then i would expect them to be pretty good as they make use of a bigger driver... Guest Anonymous
Is there a definitive answer to the original question? I am sure it is NO, but if you could record audio from AM/FM/Weather/TV bands that would be absolutely brilliant I think. I wish they would do this. Rob S
I have a MZ-G755 (which has a radio on the remote as well) and you CANNOT record radio broadcasts with it. The radio is totally independent from the MD player (except for drawing power) even to the point that the player and radio have separate volume levels. Hope this helps.
