foxy2004
What device should i buy? A Sony n-710, n-910 or a Sharp 420. With Sony, am i not paying to much for the strong brandname? With Sharp, am i buying real good quality? Greetz, foxy
KJ_Palmer
I think the pricing on these is just about right. OK, the Sony's may be a little overpriced, but still I'd go for the N910 if price were no object, due to the full metal body, features and slimness. I'd stay away from the N710, though if you're in Europe. The DR420 is a little bit plasticky and quite chunky, but does have the much-hyped Auvi digital amp. To me it doesn't sound better than the Sonys, just different. It depends on the sound you like, though. I've always found the Sharps to be a bit bass-rich for my own liking. darkfusion
Is NetMD a must? If NetMD is not needed, I'd go for the Sharp DR-7. I would list all the spec's, but they can be found here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sharp_MD-DR47...+DR480+DR7.html I've yet to hear of anyone being dissapointed with the DR-7 yet, and soundwise it's pretty hard to beat due to Sharp's signature "Auvi" 1-Bit Digital Amp. If NetMD is really important though, I'd either buy a Sharp IM-DR80 or an entry level recorder and then buy a Sharp Auvi player-only like an MD-DS8. ouijaouija
Hi, I recieved by dr420 this week, and it is amazing. The only problem is that the beatjam programme doesn't work. But you can easily use another programme. I highly recommend the 420. It looks a lot lot better when you have it in your hands. The online pics do not do it justice
foxy2004
It has to be a Net-md. I want to download everything with my computer towards the md. Sometimes i want to record music from the television. And it has to be so robust as possible. Greetz, foxy
Christopher
Well, considering that, then I'd have to say the 420 for sure then. Welcome to the forums, as well.
foxy2004
Thanks guys for your reply. I haven't made up my mind yet but i'm going to choose between the sharp 420 and the sony n-910. My decision processes can take a long time... I let you know. greetz, foxy
KJ_Palmer
It's a tough choice. I'd like them both. Well, I've already got the 420, but as the N910 has joint text capabilities, nice screen, high end features it would be high on my shopping list if it weren't for Hi-MD... syko
I own an N910, and IT ROCKS! Some notable features are 1) Full aluminium body 2) Very slim compared to the N710 3) -IMPORTANT- N710 has a very low earphone output compared to the N910 (1.2mW as opposed to 5mW). If you don't listen to you MD on busy streets then the N710 would be OK, but that is the only major weakness of the N710. 4) Battery life of 100+ hours, using 2 batteries. 5) Comes with a backlit MC33EL (single line display remote) or MC35ELK (double line display kanji-enabled remote). 6) Comes with rechargeable NiMH gumpack battery. 7) Easy to read 3 line LCD screen. 8) Digital pitch control allows you to change the speed of your music without changing the pitch of the song. Only reasonable quality though but it's fun to listen to a song at 25% faster speed! (-50% to +100% speed) Unattractive features 1) Prepare to have a lot of $$KACHINGGG!!$$ 2) Noticable background hiss on volumes lower than 2/30. This is due to the amp and is barely noticable. The price has dropped now to about $380AUD from $600AUD when I bought it a month after release. It's the best $600 I've spent on any audio equipment. The only problem. For the lowly N710, I believe the N707 is better because of it's normal earphone output and digital megabass produces a much deeper bass than the equiliser does. My opinion anyway. Go the N910, if you've got no problems with $$KACHING!!$$
foxy2004
I finally decided: I bought a Sony n-910. Still have to wait about 3 weeks for delivery. Now i'm going to learn how to work with a minidisc...
