Hello gyus, i'm a newbie here, glad to know about minidisc.org, because i have problem and other forums didn't answer on my question!

I have a problem with my Sony MD, i think you can help me, i hope:) So i can't record any songs on player, when i'm connecting it to PC, i starting to transfer/recording songs, it shows how it transfering/recording, then after recording/transfering when i'm pushing *play* it just show me that it *BLANK*, MD *BLANK*, it's like i didn't record anything on it(MD device), just like a new MD(disc)!!! Player working great, playing md's, sound and etc., but not recording.

I bought a new md disc, recorded, nothing, reinstalled soft (OpenMG and Simple Burner) nothing, i tryed to record through the optical line, nothing. I really dont know what to do, please anyone can help me.

Majestic it's a newbie...probably don't know what's his recording head.. but something else he should know..once it happens to one disc chances r the disc might not b usuable ever again so i'd advice him n ne one else who's experiencing the same prob ..to only use one disc or else u'll end up with a lot of messed up discs with currupt TOC

Claims that a 'newbie' won't know what a recording head but messes up by introducing nonsense like TOC.

Funny. crazey it would help if you learnt to shut (the hell) up once in a while.

TiJei - Majestic is right, it does indeed sound like your rec head is busted. The recording head isn't required for playback, so yes if your unit no longer records, you can still use it for playback. You can either send your unit in to Sony for service/repair or alternatively purchase a new unit.

yeah if the magnetic head is damaged or the cable that links it to the main chip board is busted ur md will still play if the optical pick up is still in tact but will NOT RECORD ..

as for TOC = Table OF contents.. (my bad)

serves the same purpose as that of a book, it has a list of all the information that's on the disc n it's location but unlike a book where u can just jump to a specific page or chapter just by memory (not having to glance at the table of contents 1st)..the md relies on the TOC to do this so if it's messed up then the MD won't know what's it a bout n will read as an error
