Kevin Beach
Does anyone know what the principle differences are in the new Sony Hi-MD NH1 and the NH900? Thanks for your help. Kevin
Christopher
Hello Kevin, and welcome to the forums. Please read over our Equipment browser for more information about these two units, and then I will answer any additional questions you might have - also, please look at our search feature, as we've discussed the differences in the past, I believe. Relevant equipment browser listing: http://minidisc.org/himd_table.html p.s. Moving this to the relevant forum..
sup8
what does the digital amp do? does it improve recordings, or just for headphones? i just need something for good recording and USB upload that will be better than my N-10. i'm thinking the 800 will suit my needs.. or does the 900 offer any recording advantages? coolice
I also had a question regarding this topic. Is it possible to use the NH1 without the remote (can the functions of the remote be accessed on the unit itself)? Unlike most people I don't like remotes because they make the headphones heavy and make them fall out of my ear. From the looks of the 900 it seems that all the functions of the remote are on the unit as well.
KJ_Palmer
I think this NH1 pic shows that most, if not all buttons are on the main body (including a menu button) of the NH1. And the digtial amp affects only the playback (output) stage, not the recording, so the NH800 should be as good as the NH900 for recording purposes. Kevin Beach
Hi, I do language study in Mexico (linguistics work) so its important for me to get quality sound on disc so that later I can break everything down cut and paste if you will the language so I can get the proper meaning. I currently use a Sony MZ-R91 and love it. Though its a real hastle to get stuff loaded up on my computer. Quality sound, Durability in the field, up-loading to the computer, mic input, storage ability are increadably important to me. With that sayed: the Hi-MD NH1 looks to be the best fit. Any comments. Can I get away with a cheaper model with all the qualities mentioned above? Thanks for your help. Any links most welcome.

crazeybt1
i'd suggest the MZNH800 which is about $140 Less than the MZNH1 n got all the functions that ur looking for.. mic input for ur recording n then u can upload to ur pc via USB and another good buy would b the MZNH700 which is even cheaper than the MNZH800 but without the AM/FM radio. so u got those two to chose from but bear in mind none of the mentioned units r out if u check minidisco ur gonna c the MZNH600 available as is everywhere else..but it doesn't have a mic input so it doesn't serve ur cause links: minidisco.com and a feature comparison page. http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/lib/mi...tableChart.html *skytherx take it easy it's the guy's second post maybe he's not familiar with the posting n stuff yet *
Christopher
Can I get away with a cheaper model with all the qualities mentioned above?Kevin, I believe you should purchase the NH900 instead, but if money is no true hassle then just go for the NH1. what does the digital amp do?http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4223 Can you stick to one thread?I merged them [best..mod..ever].
Kevin Beach
Hey Thanks Kurisu for your answer. So The 900 is basically the same as the NH1? And please forgive me for the redundancy but can I be confident that I can get the same quality of recording that I need in linguistic work? Thanks for your patients. jadeclaw
Yes. And yes. One difference: The NH1 has Time/Date-Stamp.
