screw that, they obviously don't know exchange rates because I expect to pay 400 CAD for a 900 not a bloody 800.....

They know them, but don't forget, that US-prices are usually stated without sales tax as sales tax is only applicable,

if buyer and seller live in the same state.

You might want to look here as well:

Which tells us again: Don't take the biggest retailer or take SonyStyle prices as the only truth.

Shop around and compare and don't forget service quality too. Oh, and finally, Some US-Retailers ship to Canada as well...

Well, 'Plug In Power' only means, that there is an additional Voltage placed on the Microphone lines to provide for Bias-current for electret capsules.

Recording time is almust unaffected by this, as these microphone capsules draw very little power.

You don't need mains supply to record from microphone.

Nope. It is LineIn/Optical digital in. When you look closely, you see that the display is a piece of plastic glued in. The person that made this mock-up didn't manage to glue that one right in...

The production units surely will have the correct designation on the connectors.

Heh yeah but I doubt those prices include Canada's provincial and sales taxes. Also I'd expect the major retailers to be providing better prices not worse. Odds are if I can't find a 900 for 400 CAD in Canda I will just order it from the states.

The problem with ordering from the states is that your waranty is often unavailble for Canada :

It's what happened to me when I bought my MZ-N707, it stoped working then I've asked to sony if I could send it to them and because it was bought in USA and I lived in Canada, they couldn't do anything.

Maybe it's just because of the retailer ? (www.etronics.com)

Both Minidisc-Canada and SonyStyle's prices do not include taxes.

When you go to check-out at Minidisc-Canada, the price of the unit is listed as a subtotal, which denotes that taxes are not included. As for SonyStyle, it clearly states "Total Before Taxes: 399.99" when your shopping cart has a MZNHF800 in it.
