If you're ordering off Audiocubes, then you need to tell me what you're buying so I can make sure that we get affiliation credit from it. Seriously - let me build you the link to the product in question beforehand.

As for a voltage converter, I think they're necessary although some will contest that they aren't. To be safe, just get this:

I did and it was one of the best "buys" for my unit(s). I rather be safe than sorry, and with a price like that you can't go wrong!

If you give us a little more information, we might be able to help you a little more :rasp:. Why wouldn't a product ship with a power cord?

Since you're talking about a product at audiocubes, it is most likely has a Japanese 100v ac supply. North american outlets usually have 115v outlets. AS you can see, you have a 15v difference in voltage. Therfore, the purchase of a step-down voltage converter safely removes the 15v.

Some say, as kurisu stated, that a converter isn't necessary. Some have tested the draw and have gotten proper voltage, but I wouldn't trust that. As kurisu stated, the purchase of a converter will settle all qualms or fears you have. The Kashimura brand chargers available from audiocubes works exceptionally well.

Good luck!

Arthur, in all honesty I think you should get the MZ-E720 for ten dollars more. Whilst the E620 features a digital amp, it's not a digital amp that will carry any benefits towards the sound. If you are strapped for $10, I'll pay the difference. I believe strongly enough that the HD digital amp [compared to the regular digital amp] is worth it.

Regardless, here's a link to the unit, please go through this link whenever you're ready to buy [no rush ]

Here's the E720, that I will pay the difference for:

i think with the review i will get the kenwood because i like the fact that the remote is good looking and it has a nice display. i like the unit as well from the things that your review said about it. oh and i was wondering... i had a sony md before... the mzn-10 i think.. and its not a recorder but i was still able to put music onto a disc through it? can i do it with the kenwood as well?

Good question.

I assume your referring to the Kenwood player?

The remote has a clip-on type clip that attaches itself to the remote cord and is definitely as strong as any other remote clip. So, the remote is actually flat and the clip goes on the cord. Remotes from other brands just put the clip on the remote, making it somewhat bulky.

It doesn't necessarily have to be used with your fingernail. It's actually very intuitive for it's small size. I can't really think of any good ways to explain exactly how it operates, it's definitely something you'd have to feel to understand. I liked it, regardless..

p.s. What're you going to get, Arthur?

As far as the converter, I don't think you'll need it, but again, it may be a good idea to be safe (after all, HOW much are you paying for your MD player?).

My Japanese Panasonic SJ-MR220 works just fine when I plug the 100V adapter in, and the battery charges as it should. But after the first day, the battery indicator starts flashing like all the charge is gone. Then, about two weeks later, the battery finally dies. I don't know if this is just a goofy thing about the unit or if it's related to the voltage difference. I'm getting the proper charge, but not the right power indicator on the machine.

Taking no chances, I picked up a universal adapter for my Japanese Sony MZ-N10 and just use that with no problems. The universal cost me $17 at a local discount store. Hope that helps!
