Paula
I'm am looking into getting the NH900 when it comes out, primarily to record live classical music (myself!). If I record in PCM format, can I upload it as such, or will Sonic Stage automatically reformat/compress it? Thanks
The_Stamp
you can upload it as a PCM, where you can export it to a cd, if you have iceedtea's SS2. i dont believe it comporesses it, but nobody knows for sure until the better models come out. boerner
so, you are able to upload recordings made from mic (or other input)? i thought that you could only re-capture in realtime. and if you can upload from player to pc, is it only pcm or does it work for any compression? will it work with older units or just hi-md? this is only iceeeedteas version too, right? p.s. i registered just for this question
jadeclaw
Upload is possible for all recordings done with a Hi-MD recorder done in Hi-MD mode done via Mic/Line/Digital In. Hi-MD mode means LinearPCM/Hi-SP/Hi-LP. Of course, you have to use a Hi-MD unit for upload as well. Old NetMD-Recorders cannot upload. Recordings done on old equipment or made in NetMD-mode cannot be uploaded. The NetMD-mode creates discs compatible to old equipment. Uploading can be done in two ways: Playback via USB and rerecording with a wave-recording software (Realtime) or via the supplied SonicStage software (Much faster). The_Stamp
you can use the commercial version to upload your recorded material... but you can't export it (currently) to a cd, unless you have a VAIO computer (GOD i hate sony's proprietary crap) iceedtea's build of SS2 bypasses the "VAIO check" and lets any computer burn cd's via SS2. Fray Adjacent
But someone mentioned they found that you will not be able to record in PCM using the Mic In on HiMD units.... We will need to verify this as soon as someone gets their hands on a recording unit....
doclloyd
I'm able to burn to CD using Sony's "beta" version of SS2. Their "standard" edition, of course, does not allow the normal audio CD burning.
