Kaledi
Came across this link and it refers to HI-MD hardware and software being used for video content http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/artic...t_id=1000592927
Christopher
You're brilliant. Great first post. Here's a *.pdf I found: http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/atta...DA-04-715A1.pdf So, what're we talking about here? I'm envisioning a device that will accept Hi-MD media [whether it be a static orifice on the device or an attachment], and then you can take the media and insert it into a portable device and enjoy your favorite programmes or video. Or it could just be for the recording industry; I doubt that, though. p.s. Karma point for you!
bhangraman
While they've been approved for such use as having DRM systems that comform to required basics, there's no guarantee that they'll actually come out with it.
Jimmix
Given the apparent success of small devices that capture video to limited sd/memory stick cards I should think that a device that had maybe the same video quality (maybe even more) but more space to record to, should be very impressive, don't you think? hobgoblin
most likely the drm aspect will kill it just like sony is currently suffocating its userbase with drm...
The_Stamp
you know, why an't sony enable native mp3 playback for the 600? it can't do field recording, which nixes the recorder aspect of the copyright issues.
hobgoblin
they dont like mp3s, they want to push atrac, just like apple want to push aac and microsoft wants to push wma and wmv. then there is the whole drm issue in that you can dump a mp3 onto the disk and then copy it back off at a diffrent computer unless they wrap it in some encryption shit using sonicstage...
