Otherwise, you will see some Chinese texts as "?"In addition, ensure that you run SonicStage 3.2 with AppLocale in Japanese. If you follow the registry edit as outlined, you will get a majority of Chinese language texts.

Please follow the instruction I have outlined in this thread.Second, you will need to change the destination codes of your unit to reflect its Chinese model. The instructions to enter service mode and edit destination codes can be found in the MZ-NHF800's service manual, pg. 19. --> download it from the "Downloads" archive. But since you received this unit in Malaysia, it is likely your unit is of a Tourist model, which may support Chinese charaters. To be sure, couple the unit with one of the remotes mentioned below.I believe the main unit's LCD screen does not support Japanese/Chinese characters. But I am pretty sure remotes such as the RM-MC35ELK, RM-MC40ELK and RM-MC55ELK will perform to your needs - that is Chinese characters support. Please read MDCF's Sony LCD Remotes Guide Report back if you need further assistance. Good luck.
cruidi
--> Then locate the entry called "AreaCode" with a value of 2 for US version.--> Change it to 40000 hexadecimal. That's the value on the Japanese install of SonicStage. (*If you wish to title and display music tracks in Traditional/Simplified Chinese, change it to 800000 hexadecimal. hi thanks for your quick replyi go to the registry, i can't even find any value called "AreaCode" what i found inside are only (Default), DLLName, Name and Version. The Version is 4.3.00.08302by the way i had downloaded the service manual and it seems needing a file called "TestMode_Enter_For_900_800_700_600_600D_Ver****.exe" i don't have it. where can i download it?oh yea by the way, i am using Window XP SP2, and if i switch the region to China(PRC), Sonic Stage 3.3 works perfectly displaying every single chinese character, but if i change back to English (US), English (UK) or any other language, then the Chinese Character in Sonic Stage 3.3 become "????" again. The reason i don't want to change to China(PRC) is because most of the softwares in my PC will become chinese based. which i don't really like. please assist.thanks
Richard
The full registry key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SonyCorporation\OpenMG\PD\{D887F25F-02A3-44D7-841F-583DD5231B5F} In here you should see area code. To enter the test mode on an NHF-800 see this thread. Edited November 17, 2005 by richyhu

Richard
hi, thanks for ur fast reply, but i really cannot find the area code for that, just to prove, i attached an image, please check If I understood correctly you had the Chinese version 2.3 then upgraded this to 3.3 - which version? Can you manually create a DWORD value key in there and set it to 800000. If you do this then run SS under APPLocale for Traditional Chinese do the tracks display correctly? Ishiyoshi
ok i am reinstalling the software, having everything started again (include deletion of registry) i will try it out. You will need to edit the registry regardless of a reinstall. Do apply the registry edit patch I have created for you or follow the registry edit guide I have prepared to enable proper Chinese characters display/titling.beside that, i can't download AppLocale, cause i can't get my window XP validate, can someone post it here so i can download?Drop me a pm with your email. Nonetheless, how far were you able to follow the instructions? Are you able to access "Test Mode" change the destination codes from 50 (US version) to 34? To make things easy for you, please review the following post from this thread. Enjoy. To make it simple for others in the future, I outline the steps here:0. When I say "Chinese", I mean the Chinese characters in GB2312 or Big5 encodings. They are different from Kanji characters that use Shift-JIS encoding. (Skip this if you don't know what I am saying )1. Make sure your RH10 unit can display Chinese menus. You may try the service mode trick if it doesn't.2. Install SS3.3 on your PC (I used US version from connect.com, I GUESS other versions should work as well but didn't verify)3. Follow Ishiyoshi's instruction to change the Windows registry, but use 800000 as the AreaCode value for Chinese (This works for both Simplified and Traditional Chinese).4. If you have an WinXP machine, use AppLocale to invoke SS3.3 using Simplified or Traditional Chinese language. If you are using Win2K machine, change the system language settings to Simplified (or Traditional, but I didn't verify) Chinese like I did in post#12 in this thread and then invoke SS3.3 as usual. You should be able to see/edit titles in Chinese inside SS3.3, as well as see the Chinese titles on RH10 unit after transfer the songs. It really shouldn't be this complicated; shame on Sony for making such a crappy software!I also wanted to see Chinese titles on my MC35ELK remote, but after some Google searching, it seems no at all possible because MC35ELK model does not have built-in Chinese fonts (that's right, the remote has to build in all fonts that it can show). I will need either MC40ELK, or MC55ELK for that.

To make things easy for you, please review the following post from this thread. Enjoy. Crudi - from what I understood your 2.3 was a "native" Chinese version and you upgraded to a US version hence the characters were no longer displayed correctly in SS. If this is the case you will always need to run using Applocale to view them properly. Anyway glad you and Ishii sorted it and things are now ok. Remember the tuner remote that comes bundled with the unit does not support Japanese/Chinese characters display. In addition, the LCD panel of the unit itself only supports Roman characters. Look for a RM-MC40ELK or RM-MC55ELK remote for full traditional Chinese text display.
