SonicStage 4.3 Ultimate Edition

About This File

From valued forum member Avrin's topic, SonicStage 4.3 "Ultimate" Release 2:

Since the "Ultimate" 4.3 version seems to have gained quite a popularity, and appears to be less glitchy than any previous one, I decided to build a second release. This is purely a cosmetic update.

What's changed from the first release:

1. Updated Registry Information Setup is used now. This doesn't affect minidisc functionality in any way, but may add support for some newer ATRAC phones (you still need to provide the respective drivers).

2. The link to Minidisc Community Forums in the Help menu is replaced with a link to Sony Insider Forums.

3. Installation package extraction path is no longer saved to registry.

4. Windows Installer 2.0 distribution package is not included.

The complete list of changes from the official VAIO version (including changes introduced in the first release):

1. System prerequisites from Microsoft (Windows Installer 2.0, DirectX 9.0c, Windows Media Format 9, Windows Media Format 9.5, Data Access Components 2.5) are not included.

2. OpenMG Secure Module version 5.0 with the respective Registry Information is used instead of the original patched version 4.7.

3. Sony CONNECT Store support is no longer installed.

4. SonicStage Security Update is installed automatically.

5. Latest Personal Audio Drivers for SONY devices are installed automatically.

6. The VAIO support link in the Help menu is replaced with a link to Sony Insider Forums.

NOTE: If you have applied the experimental SonicStage patch 4.3.02 for Vista/Windows 7, you'll need to re-apply it after installation.

NOTE 2: If you need NetMD, you will probably have to install one of the drivers in the downloads section, as the older drivers have some different problems. In particular, if (as for many people) the system is Windows-64-bits, you will need the driver NETMD760, and you will need to undo some of the drivers installed by the SonicStage setup. If you have an MZ-RH1, you are especially warned to install that driver or its 32-bit cousin NETMD052.SYS (also under downloads) on every NetMD device.

New 8.1 system.  SonicStage Ultimate v.2. install does not work right away for me, I made some effort to try a few different things.  After 4 or 5 different tries I got it working.  I cannot vouch if this will work for you, or if it started working because of some other effect that coincided with my multiple installs/uninstalls.  For example, by this time I had also had tried connecting 2 different models Hi-MD (always successfully) and also wanted to see if I needed 64-bit drivers,  which the 8.1 absolutely refused.

I took the Sonic Stage Ultimate v.2 from this forum and extracted it manually with 7Zip.  Then I went to each of the setup.exe files, as well as setupss.exe and used the "properties" to make them all run as administrator.  (I figure that maybe the main install is running these other installs.)   After reboot, I set omgjbox.exe to run in Windows XPSP3 compatibility mode, and as administrator.

Possibly not all this is necessary, but this time, SonicStage is working.

Good luck and thanks for this forum.

I have spent the best part of a week trying to get my VGF-AP1L working again. With zero help from Sony. Thankyou for this update.

I'm sure at one point in the last 2 years Media Go worked with this player, but for the life of me i could not get it to see the songs after a reformat of the HD.

So even though ive lost album artwork etc, i have a player with 3000 tracks on it working again.

Great stuff. Have a hundred internet points!

Oh and get stuffed Sony.

Don't panic. The whole downloads area is offline at the moment. We're working on a complete new interface and it will be a couple of days yet.

Sorry, but this does not work for me.  It downloads OK but then just hangs there, frozen, no response at all. I have to "kill" computer & restart.  XP Windows 7.

I am unable to download the SonicStage 4.3 Ultimate Edition from here.

If I am not signed in, the download is not permitted.

If I sign in, the download clicks, does not begin to download, and fails with an error message and a "Contact Support" link. I've sent messages on 3 days to that link and received no reply (which is why I'm posting here). When I then go back to re-sign in, my password is dead. I've tried this cycle (with constantly new passwords) several times.

This fails on Firefox, Chrome, and IE, so it doesn't seem to be browser-dependent.

Can anyone help me get a download copy? I can supply a Dropbox folder link, if that would help.

BTW - I'm on Win 7 (64-bit)

This SS 4.3 UE works perfectly. One question is it somehow possible for me to get music from the player onto my library??

There are some absolute gems there from myself and my friends that I would like to get back.. But this is a new computer with no library so SS tells me I cannot copy it back.

Ideas are well appreciated..  NW-HD5 ...

Many thanks..

I managed to get someone else to send me the download for SS4.3 since I couldn't download myself for unknown reasons. SS4.3 is running fine on Win7-64bit.

I'm a working musician and I have MDs originated by me that I'm trying to rescue. My recording device (still working) is an MZ-NE410 and has a PC-MD cable. The drivers installed properly. I can read the track titles on the MD inside Sonic Stage.

HOWEVER, I'm getting the message: "Unable to transfer the following tracks to My Library because they are recorded
by Net MD or another computer."

It is true that, several computers ago, these files were once read in to Sonic Stage. This would be the second time. Isn't there anything I can do about this?
