lxrichbirdxl replied to SimonGrafftey's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
There's 7-band custom EQ? -
I saw these from a magazine, drawn by two artists..not very nice. It either the bottons don't fit the drawing or the drawing don't fit the design...
-
Wow, thanks a million! What exactly is that removable cover like thing which that player is inserted in? Can it play DTS when listening through heaphone? Btw, I was thinking of playing DVD-Audio/SACD on a portable players like that...but looks like it still remains as a dream...haha.

Just another discontinue Sony product. Well, I remember see this in a promotion booklet that Sony sent to my house, back in 2002. This babe has got the ability to play many DVD formats while still in around the standard size of a portable CD player! ...and it has a seperate 3.5"LCD to view the content if you play DVD. Enough teasing, but I'll try to find out more about this player. Anyone here has any info on it? Thanks!

Only the silver unit has white backlight...if I'm not wrong. The black unit is a sticky for finger prints.

Most MD remotes work fine with those units, but just that the display function won't work. It's very troublesome in scrolling. So, no 100% working remotes.

HI! I ripped a CD yesterday to see how ATRAC 352kps sounds like. I firstly ripped it to WAV using SS 3.3, then converted the files to ATRAC 352kps when transfering to my HD3. The result was disappointing, the converted files sounded like 128kps mp3, in which there's this 'WAH WAH' effect usually occurs in low quality audio...strange! Then I ran a second test. I ripped the CD to the new atrac lossless at 256kps, then converted those to ATRAC 352kps when I transfered to my player. This time, what I heard was something similar to ATRAC3plus 256kps, good quality! ...and I also noticed that the conversion starts right from 50% when I convert WAV to 352kps...!? So here's what I've got. Comments are welcomed!

This is could be a SS lite...but it's very hard to get ATRAC code. But nice work! -
SonicStage 3.3 Arrives -- a Reformed ATRAC is Born

It worked for me. Select 'Run' from start menu, enter 'regedit', then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to SOFTWARE to Sony Corporation to SS to EMD then delete all entry with CONNECT or something. -

What's the point? Lossless is compressed from cd, then you compress it again to 256kps, you lose even more quality? But, maybe the overall time is less... Anyone can tell why I don't see any 352kps setting? Ishiyoshi, I don't quite understand you. Cuz it was mentioned on the first page that SS3.3 has atrac@352kps? -

Will the ugrade support models from other regions? Thanks! -
Hi, Vinny is me, haha. Could you us what region your model belongs to as well? Maybe SS has problem recognising that...?
-
I own it, and it's great of course. But as people have mentioned countless times, there's still a lot of room for improvement, and even the new models such as A1000/3000 don't have some of the features that we are all looking for.
-
You are not clear enough, if you are on hte bus or in the train, then classical music is classic example of near silence...it's not meant to be heard clearly outside of your house.
-
Absolutely!
-
Thanks! The commercial makes me feel at least Sony is serious about the product. I would most likely to buy one.
-
Hmm...we can see from this that there's a possibility for Sony make changes. Fingers crossed for a 40gb A3000.
-
Well, I still prefer Sony. Cuz, only the custom EQ allows me to distort the guitar riffs, and unlike other DAP, in which bass(..and it sounds artificial, cuz it's boosted) is often too much the focus. Only if we customise ourselves the EQs, then we might get the best settings that really fit. I'll check it out.
-
Ya, two reasons for me... Gapless audio, then the sound quality, that includes feature like a 6-band custom EQ, which only Sony appears to have it. If iPod or any other players don't hv that, I wouldn't buy... Apple seems to not care about any of that, cuz most listeners don't really care about anything except the hip factor. I really wonder, why does one need so many DAP settings, such as rock, pop, electronic, or even bass, tremble, etc. Just one or two custom EQ would be more than enough. Lastly I want to say that iPod really sounds like sh!t, and if only I don't care sound quality like a noob, I would bite the apple.

lxrichbirdxl replied to Christopher's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
NW-A3000 is just unreasonably big or at least we don't know the reason behind it...I suppose the packagings of the 3000&1000 are the same? -
Exclusive ATRACLife NW-A3000 + NW-A1000 Review

I barely managed to read through everything in the pages. So I ended up with some quesitons, hope someone would answer me. 1. Is the battery replaceable? (If this is true then according to the Uk site another battery is included in the bundle!?) 2. The UK Sony site says that audio compression is only up to 256kps? 3. The site also mentions 'docking station' which is available seperately, but I thought it should be included.. but nevertheless, it could vary from country to country. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.act...Network+Walkman -
It looks like the new 'HDD' batt is still the same size, is it so? This is good way to upgrade, as the owner of first PSPs wouldn't feel so much pain, as they would buy new batt as well. But is this the only kind that's comin out? Will there be an integrated HDD in PSP?
