Thanks for ur answers. but now I'm still confused, what if the player is only connected via the usb to the com, is it being charged? Cuz I usually transfer songs to my nw-hd3 like that, not using the power supply connected.

It's not really a sad news for me, but I wonder what difference the new format would make; If it's again developed and supported by Sony only, it'll be just another isolated format like atract. In fact, if they are gonna do that, why don't just call it atract4..then atract4plus...?

Looks like u totally don't understand me. Firstly why do u use SS3.2 to burn cd? Nero is the obvious choice, they used for very different purposes!? I was talking about foobar and nero (sorry I wasn't clear...), cuz when u use nero to burn cd, the settings are troublesome, where as foobar burns a gapless cd by default, flawless. And could you tell me HOW you get a 48khz mp3? I've never seen any settings that allows me to encode in 48khz before...and even if the source file is at 48khz, the resulting mp3 is at 44khz for me, so I really want to know how you do it? Thanks

Sonicstage can not be compared with Nero. They are used for different purposes. In fact is troublesome to burn a gapless cd with nero, especially if the source files are lossy. Btw, how do make a 48khz mp3? I've never known that. ???

Yep, it'll work. When ur wav/mp3 are converted by sonicstage( from 'importing files'), which means that the songs are not ripped by 'import cd' mode, they would have gaps. Btw, I don't think atract or mp3 can be in 48hz...even if u convert ur wav from 48hz to atract/mp3, they are down to cd quality 44.1 hz. In order to have gapless, u need to burn ur wav/mp3s to a cd image or real cd (burn them gapless of course!), for the cd image case u need a virtual rom driver to run the image and sonicstage would rip it like a normal cd so the result is gapless. So that why 'it works' DO NOT convert ur mp3 with sonicsatge as u import them...firstly they would have gaps, and secondly poor quality(cuz, mp3 is already compressed, if u compress it again to atract...). Instead do the method I mentioned above, burn then into cd image or to cd ( select gapless mode in ur burning app of course, for the Nero case, select no gap between songs, and u may want to put in small values of crossfade frames, however if u know foobar2000, install the special edition, it burns a gapless cd/image by defualt, it is better than Nero whe burning mp3 to cd, however, in the case of ripped wavs from cd, they are already gapless, so do not use foobar, use Nero and just select no gap between songs.) Lastly I want to say that use atract instead of mp3, largely becasue u can use the custom EQ in ur player, that why I bought my own. The custom EQ rules, there's nothing better than it . Enjoy!

No body would ever come out with a PERFECT player, it is not because of the tech limitation of course...Foe example, the old xbox is strategic, it is even given out for free, and thus it's making huge loss; but it is the way that Mircosoft had planned. It is to complement the release the new xbox, so that it would be so much better, and everyone has tasted the old xbox, they would be more than happy to buy the new one.

Thanks. Kurisu mentioned that he plays 320kps atract songs in his NW-HD3, where in my case, my NW-HD3 forced the 320kps songs to convert to 64kps when I tried to trasnfer them...Is it true?

WHAT! I can't believe WHAT you said and WHAT you did! Sorry for being so emotional...but dude, you must be joking! Alright, pls tell us what version of sonicstage you use, and what does it say when you try ro import those mp3? Is it caused by the copyright protection...? Btw, I really wonder how you use Nero Recode to convert audio files!!! Nevertheless, I think the easiest way is to copy you mp3s from the cds to your harddrive, and then use Nero to burn them into a cd image. Later run the image with any widely available virtual drive app, such as DAEMON, then use Sonicstage to rip the cd like NORMAL! There you go mate! I use this method when I want to get a gapless album. cuz when the songs are burnt gapless(..essential for a live show), and when it is ripped like normal cd with sonicstage, the atrac files would also be gapless, WHEN THE SONGS ARE PLAYED IN YOUR PLAYER. This is really amazing, cuz a lot of lossy formats such as mp3 would ALWAYS have gaps! All hail Sonicstage & Atrac!!! Or you could just copy the files to your harddisk folder, and select 'import' and afterwards see if you can transfer, provided that the songs are not copyrighted. (I wonder how the XXX iPod poeple bear with the gaps!!!)

It is just very confusing. I just got it work by chance...ha.

It is all because of the differring audio formats that sony and other companies use...somehow people who don't like atrac won't be satisfied with what the players can offer, especially when there's the ultra popularity of iPod, and therefore, mp3(as most people are nooby, they wouldn't care much about formats, so they tend to stick to what most people are using). I had a friend who quite liked the NW series models, but once he heard that the player custom EQ can only be used for Atrac songs, he wouldn't want to give a damn anymore...There's just something not right. Nevertheless, I sense the upcoming offers from Sony, would be more perfected...just imagine the full colour OLED HDD player out here.

WHY NOT? iPod have 60GB model, if ever Sony HDD players have larger space, it would only do good to help NW-A3000 to become iPod killer... Is it a strategy to keep sucking out our money which future(...in ages) space upgrade? In which we would not be able to resist, indeed. Sigh, I have no choice.

I don't know for Kurisu, but I bought it long before HD5...came out simple. However, I would still be difficult to choose between HD3&5 for if given the choice. They look differently basically, but chances are higher that I would choose HD5

Ha, no....sorry. When I tried to upload 320kps Atract songs, they were forced to convert into 64kps...how sad. The speed of transfer seemed to be slowed down slightly as well.

Hi everyone. I'VE been using NW-HD3 for about half a year already, but I did upgrade to ST 3.1. After I installed the Sonicstage 3.2 upgrade, the transfer to my device now required to initialising, so u kno what kind grave strike wass that, btw, mine is an Asia model so, I decided to install the old 2.3 that came with it originally, but I didn't uninstall 3.2, so just kept installing following the instrucitons...after everything's finished, I realised that now it's still 3.2 meaning with new format upgrade allowing to encode in atract3plus 320kps, int o mp3 etc; it now also support my player just like before, no need to initialise anymore. Is this some kind of accident? Thanks for your kind attention, just wanted to share wit hyou guys my experience.
