The title of this post reminds me of the Tootsie Pop commercial: How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Want a NICE cheap soundcard with digital out?
paperclip replied to Christopher's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
That looks like a very nice card, Wizard. I noticed it has "Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry", is that what the Onkyos use? Sounds promising, please post your findings! -
Thanks guys. Share a story if you have one, I like to read them. BTW, if anyone wants that Costello album on MD let me know and I get it to 'ya...

Sorry again, you are correct. 420D.

Recording my MTV Unplugged collection onto MD (SP mode). Nirvana Alice In Chains Rod Stewart Bob Dylan Tony Bennett. The nod going to Nirvana, but I gotta give Tony some credit. He sounds amazing for his age. And shoot, while I'm at it Rod sounds pretty swell too

I've sucessfully revived 2 MZ-N10's that had the same problem. The previous owner gave me this tip: With the unit OUT of the cradle, play a disc. While playing, place unit into cradle. Worked for mine, however I have no illusions that they both really need new batteries. (I can record just over 1 MD in SP mode through the optical cable before they conk out). If anyone know if a source for the batteries let me know. I guess I'd even pay $40 per, if they are new and hold a decent charge, that is if I could find them...

The only thing I have to add is try pulling the power from it overnight (remove battery and just let it sit with no disc inside). I think those are really cool looking units and wouldn't mind having one to put in a display. I want to listen to it, just so check the difference in ATRAC versions. But honestly, I'd rather listen to even a cheap 410 as I'm sold on Type-S. Try the power tip and if that down't work let me know if you still want to sell it...

Thanks for the replies, folks. I have some of the flip cases and I like them. I make some really neat looking j-cards for them out of photo paper and even non-md folks love 'em. I really would like to get a bunch of the dvd-style case though to put my favorites on. I think I'd do them up with a nice cover booklet of my own design, putting in as much history of the recoding as possible. something along the lines of the better Rhino releases (Rhino's Elvis Costello Armed Forces album is a good example).

I like the looks of that Onkyo card, lots of monster capacitors and a high S/N ratio. Anyone listen to it yet? I have a Creative Fatality Platinum that I'm pleased with, sound wise. Don't bother using it with Vista though, not worth the trouble. Works fine in my older XP box -
That makes me sad for some reason...

I too am looking for pre-recorded MiniDisc cases but have not had any luck yet. If someone has any they would like to sell, let me know!

I have some Rush ready to go in SP mode if you're interested. I'm looking for Yes, Supertramp and Savoy Brown/Foghat... Let me know what Rush albums you want and what else you have to trade

I've been going through my Everclear collection since I've finally gotten an autograph from Art Alexakis and throught I'd round it out. I'm trying to get a custom "box set" over at hungryandhollow.com and thought, since it's a lot of work to organize this stuff, that my fellow MD'ers might like a to benefit also? I'll burn 'em in whatever mode you want - my preference is Hi-SP so let me know. I'm currently trying to figure out if I should go with SP or LP2 for my legacy stuff and there is some neat things happening: the old seems to want to reside with the new, according to the 80 min. cut-off for SP and I'm leaning towards SP just for that reason. I should have something ready to go within 2 weeks. BTW I just got 100 bubble mailers and they're sitting empty next to the rack I know I'm a noob but I've been lurking since about 2006 when this forum was at minidisc.org and just now have the time to get into trading. P.S. Bands I'm trying to collect everything from and am now looking for rarities: Everclear Cheap Trick Billy Idol/Generation X Everclear Judas Priest/Rob Halford Yes Pink Floyd Supertramp Yeah, the 80's REALLY WERE that great! Lolz
