  1. I love MiniDisc because I think the format smokes a cd, mp3 and cassette…I tend to use MD's in the car as I do a lot of driving but over the years I've swapped back and forth between tape, cd and mp3 head units but the only one that gave me the best sound was my Kenwood or Sony MD head unit, there is something about the bass that drives it home from me. I'm blessed with a high end ears and they need qualty music passing though them.....only MiniDisc gets the seal of approval
  2. When I first bought my mini disc in 1996 I bought a box of Sharp minidisc, they came in transparent cases and sounded excellent I still have them to this day and they have seen some rough treatment in the car as this is where they get the most use. I've had a few maxell discs too, they are ok but you got to handle them with care, I've also had a lot of TDK with are just bomb proof, but Sony are the best, their case's flex better which prevents cracking
  3. I still use tapes, tapes can sound fantastic on high end machines, I have a Sony deck with Dolby S, bias, rec level controls etc and when used with a chrome tape the recordings are spot on. I use my Sony deck quite a lot when recording Vinyl I tend to favour tape over mini disc when recording vinyl just because of the Dolby system...mind you my Pioneer Mini Disc has a good Noise Reduction button but it's different at how it goes about removing hiss to that of Dolby B,C and S, I tend to record with Dolby B and play it back with C, this raises the treble in the sound and it sounds really crisp and because your playing it back in Dolby C you remove the his from the vinyl too.
  4. Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but a long time user of Mini Disc. Just a basic question really, does anyone know if I can hook an mp3 player up to the Sony MDX-CA580 Head unit, I want to use my PSP 2000 because it out puts Line out and would be perfect, I used to use it with my old kenwood via the din port, unfortunately my Kenwood mini disc player packed up last week and looking for a change…I'm quite taken with the MDX-CA580 I’ve noticed that on the back it has Aux Inputs via RCA but it says Bus Aux
