  1. Personally I think there must be some magic 'sequence' to activate it. Time to read the user manual.
  2. Intresting thing about the magic 'sequence' Music Settings My A808 settings are as follows: Playback Mode = Normal Playback Range = All Range Equalizer = Custom 1 VPT = None DSEE = Off Clear Stereo = Off Dynamic Normaliser = Off Album Display Format = Cover Art Only New Song Popup = Off Common Settings Library Mode = Advance Mode AVLS = Off Beep Settings = Off Language Settings English
  3. I'm having the same problem as you, however the CPFIX001.CEK came free with my A806. The + & - buttons on the black coloured area of the remote doesn't do anything when the A806 is docked. The only way I found to make it (like) changing albums is to press and hold down the next track key. This enables the A800 to speed through the current album songs. One thing I would like other IX001 users is to check the remote model no. It could be different from the ones supplied with the UK CPFIX001.
  4. Thanks for trying the Japanese Kanji tags. I do feel a bit upset that I brought a A808 from Hong Kong only a week ago only to learn that Sony is now releasing DAP without the non-unicode SonicStage. However I love the A800 series UI and sound quality. Oh well fingers crossed for a firmware update.
  5. Has anyone here with the A818 tried MP3 with embedded Japanese (Kanji) text. I'm really curious if US or UK models shows Japanese MP3 tags /text.
  6. I called the Sony Centre this evening and asked them if I could exchange the ordered A806 for the newer 816 and the salesman said no problem but he wasn't too sure about if the promotion could be carried over to the newer models. He said will call back soon to confirm, fingers crossed. Let you guys know the out come. "Update" Unfortunately Sony called me and said the promotion is only for the older A800 series and cannot be used for the newer models. What's funny is that the shop assistant that called me keep on referring my ordered A806 as iPod. How professional.
  7. This special offer is available at all UK Sony Centre shops as well. What's more I ordered a NW-A806 from a Sony Centre about 2 weeks ago and took the free speakers first. However they called me recently and told me that the A806 has been discontinued and asked me if I'd like a refund. I was disappointed and asked the manager if they could source the A806 at another branch because I don't want to return free speakers that came with it. Now hearing that Sony is releasing a newer model this month, I'm wondering if Sony Centre could order the new model 816 instead of the A806 and take up this offer too. The question is if the offer is applicable for the newer models as well. Tony
  8. I didn't know Argos was giving away the same speaker system, maybe my local Argos didn't advertise the promotion that well. Maybe the offer was snapped up fast whiles stock last. The sound is unbelievable as you mentioned and for me setting up the unit so it can stream music and web radio went without a hitch.
  9. Whiles shopping in Bluewater today I stumbled on an amazing offer that I could believe it was true and had to ask the sales staff twice if it was a misprint. Whiles browsing around the shop I saw an advertisement on the shop window. The offer was get a free portable speaker cradle worth £179.99 upon purchasing any NW-A800 series starting from £99 for the 2GB. What's more I thought it was the speaker in the picture as advertised "Sony CPF-NW001" but it turns out that its the one with the Network WiFi features) Yeah !!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CPFIX001-CEK-...7517&sr=8-1 So anyone in the UK looking to purchasing a NW-A800 player you know where to go (Sony Centres) Got home and tried out those speakers and seriously I was blown away by its sound quality. The speakers are identical to the CPF-NW001 series.
  10. I don't think I'm an audiophile but I do appreciate good sound quality that's why I picked up the A808 rather than the iPod. Song's encode at 64kbps Atrac+ are roughly 1.2MB at I think the SQ is still good.
  11. True at volume 15 is more than enough. Listening at vol. 30 is definitely ear damaging. The only way to find out if the player is defective or not is to get someone else listen the A808 at 30 and see if he or she can tolerate that volume?
  12. I've tried it and the video quality is good as UMD movies 480x272. Although encoding takes ages, however the quality of the output is worth the wait. I use XviD4PSP software that does a fantastic job and its free. http://www.winnydows.com/xvid4psp.html
  13. Hi, I would like to know if the A800 displays of language characters (Chinese Traditional or Simplified) within the MP3 files and not the UI? I had a NW-MS90D in the past and it doesn't display any languages at all besides from English. Cheers Tony
