Hi Otiasj, With your new plugin, Winamp now crashes as soon as I try to open the Media Library. If you remember, I am using a NW-HD5 with mp3s transferred using mp3fm. I have GYM and MP3FM on my device. Cheers N
  2. Can't wait to see if I can get this working with my NW-HD5! Cheers N
  3. Xispe - I can't seem to find that thread you started showing details of how the device ENCODES mp3s. I remember some user contacted you - he had cracked the algorithm used. Where did that go? Can you republish the information here?
  4. If you've been following the progress of GYM like I have, you may be interested in the following thread over on the Winamp forums. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=231785 Cheers N
  5. Yeah Xispe / Vovo - how goes it? Any luck with further development?
  6. Hi Xispe, This is a great addition to the software - well done! Only bug I can spot right now is - if you are browsing your music and drag tracks over to a playlist, you can see the number of tracks appearing after the playlist name. This is fine, until you select the playlist itself - then the number of tracks disappears! Hope this makes sense. Cheers - and keep up the good work! Can't wait until you can add mp3s to the collection! N
  7. Thanks Xispe for your weekender, and thanks Vovo for your usual help in identifying the good stuff and the bugs in GYM. Xispe - I think you've discovered how much hunger there is out there for a decent app to run with Sony devices. What with SS and the current fiasco with the CP, people are desperate more than ever to have something decent to interface with their players. Vovo has correctly identified a load of requirements for your software, but this must be getting scary for you... this will take a LOT of time. My advice is get a space over on sourceforge or something and get an official open source project going. That way you can assign different aspects of the project to willing helpers and have a central place where people can donate, contribute feature requests, bug reports etc. You'll go mad unless you get some help...especially as the world learns about this software, and this thread goes CRAZY! All the best N
  8. Xispe, we're all rooting for you here! Keep up the good work! Can I suggest that a big priority would be to develop ADD/DELETE functionality to your great player? This would mean we would have a complete file transfer solution, rather than using mp3manager as well. Then...editing attributes of the files once they are on the device would be amazingly helpful. If you managed all that...well you would have something to be really proud of! I know that all of this will swallow up your weekends, so can I be the first to thank you for giving up your social life for this "cause". Don't forget to set up that Paypal account we can donate to! Cheers N
  9. Looking forward to using this next version! Following your progress with much interest! [edit] Bugs with playback are now fixed on my XP machine. Congrats! Like the additions to the UI, and the clickable "now playing" area is cool. Cannot wait until you can transfer tracks onto the unit via this app Thanks for putting the time in this weekend. N
  10. Doesn't play my files either at home on XP or at work on 2000. Please find debug code from my work machine. 11. Can I just say excellent work on this app - I've been waiting for something like this since I bought my NW-HD5. My sincere thanks for helping me escape from SS. I was going to try writing something, but you have saved me time and effort here - cheers! As far as I can see, this app needs to be pushed in the following direction: 1. Integrate the mp3manager functionality into the program. I know some progress was made understanding how this working for the HD3. I think there are differences for the HD5 though. This link may help http://www.livejournal.com/users/waider/41...=804837#t804837 2. Playlists? Wouldn't that be GREAT?!!! I have none on my player, since I refuse to use SS! If you need a bit of cash, I will definitely contribute via Paypal! Good luck my friend N
  12. Hi guys, A newcomer to Sony here. Just bought the new NW-HD5H today, and can honestly say it is a FANTASTIC piece of equipment. The sound quality is superb, the size is great, and the battery life is meant to be really impressive too. Such a shame that the software is so abysmal. Sony - you've really let yourself down here, because the hardware is stunning. The software is just crap. My fault for not doing enough research though. I had hoped to be buying a "drag 'n' drop" style player. My partner just got a creative zen, and can drop files easily into it inside Windows Explorer, by using a really intuitive Windows Explorer extension. No such luck with the Sony. SonicStage is possibly one of the worst pieces of music library software going around (and I've tried a LOT). I am amazed an international calibre company like Sony could have permitted its release. It's buggy, slow when trying to process my hundreds of albums, simplistic, and completely inappropriate for what I want to do. The interface is ugly as well. I already organise my music using albumplayer (www.albumplayer.com), an excellent piece of software which catalogues my hundreds of albums for me. My music is impeccably tagged and organised into folders already too. I have spent many MANY days doing this (sad but true) and do not need another program to help me organise my music. Especially one as terrible as SonicStage. All I really want is a decent utility to transfer files over to my player. OK. So this mp3filemanager utility is OKish, but far from satisfactory. It's just a bolt on utility Sony wrote. I want something a bit more flexible but not fantastically complicated. Something I can alter directory names and tree structures in once the files have been copied over would be nice. Is there any piece of software out there I can use, or do I have to wait until Sony decides to rectify its mistakes and releases some decent software? Do they have any plans to release something that integrates better with the Windows file system? Anyone know? Be interested to hear how more seasoned Sony users feel about this.
