I Have never used V2, and have used V3 since 3.1. I recommend you stick with 3.4 (which is the one that I have at the moment), it has all the latest fixes, and it works pretty well.

I seem to remember that you can choose to ignore some files from the autotrasnfer. It happened to me with a couple of CD's I imported for my wife's player that I didn't want on mine... I pressed an option and they never re-appeared when I plugged mine again. I have a different playe and are using primarily Connect, so I am not sure I can check what I did then!

The way I have mine working at the moment... is that I have enabled internet functions, but disabled artist link (I have another post... because I think Artist link messed up my release years!)... It works OK. Play history and Fav 100 take a day or 2 to start working as far as I can remember. I sync manually though

Well... My library in SS is perfect... years and all... the thing is that I use SS to rip the CD's (Connect crashes at the end of every ripped CD and I need to reboot the box... not very speedy process). And then I manually import the dirctories into Connect to sync with my player... in order to have some of the advanced functions... I guess this is one of those features missing from Connect yet. On another thing... I think the loss of year data might have been caused by enabling the artist link feature... which I have now disabled.

How about letting windows find a new driver for your player... I can't remember the exact stpes, but once you have the player connected, go into the Device Manager in the Control Panel, and remove the device from there... then let it recognise it again... perhaps even do it manually to point to the right driver

When I registered my NW3000, I got an e-mail shortly afterwards with a code... I haven't used it yet, but it is there... Having said that, it might not be available in all countries... there was a similar promotion when I bought my HD-3, but there was no connect shop in Ireland at the time, so I didn't get anything then!

Any idea how does that Artist Link feature work? I have 3300 songs in CP. I had disabled the artist link feature because things had been too slow with the older version. But since 1.03 seemed a bit more stable, I have turned it back on again... however, it seems that it just goes over the track list continuosly non-stop! I have seen a few songs pop-up more than once at the bottom of the screen. Perhaps it is worth turning it on for a while and then turning it off again

I also have IE 6... so it definitely doesn't fix it

Hello, I have been using Connect for about 6 weeks and recently noticed that a number of tracks, it might be all of them, that were imported from SS, do not have year information. Is it possible to change the details for the whole album in CP in one go? The same goes for the Album cover... which CP accepts but looses as soon as you change album. Thanks

I too had this problem... BTW, you will get it as well when installing the upgrades... using tab and up and down arrows does the trick! It has nothing to do with the screen resoloution (I changed it to every single one my computer supported without luck). On the thread I started around Christmas, someone mentioned that he had also seen the problem and he thought it was caused by having firefox installed... I also have FF... do you? I am just curious to find out if this is really the cause of the problem.

I recently came accross a similar problem while trying to upgrade a different product (in this case is was Lotus Notes). I found a couple of links to the web oage below. It is basically caused by a problem with the Microsoft Installation database. Use it at your own risk. It has warnings that it may corrupt your installation... it did fox my problem though Windows Install Clean Up http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301

I figured out what the problem was... somewhere in the instructions it says that you should connect to SS and copy some stuff first, and I hadn't done it. After doing this... everything seems to be workinng OK... pretty cool! That's what I get for not reading the instructions

Yes you can have Connect and SS installed at the same time... I have that setup because I have an HD3 and an A6000... the only thing is that you can not have them both running at the same time.

I have wondered about your second question myself... I just don't know how it works!!!! I only have artist link information for a couple of the tracks... and I have over 3200 tracks, so it is not really working on mine. As for your second question, at least on my A3000, You can go back to auto on the general information screen, that resets the rating to whatever original rating you had before Hope this helps

It has happened to me a couple of times (also not recignising the walkman when I connect it)... Usually rebooting the box fixes it

I am experiencing a funny problem with CP... I can only rip up to 2 CD's each time. The player hangs afterwards... not only that, but I have to reboot the machine in order to be able to use it again. Has anybody experience that one? One interesting thing is that when the machine is rebooting, it has a problem closing down a process (SMax4PNP.exe)... so I thought this might be the cause. I have tried getting rid of that process, but it doesn't make much difference

I hven't tried that. I will give it a go. Thanks

Hello, I am trying to use mp3 File Manager to transfer files to my HD3. I have a large collection of mp3's that I would like to import outside of SS. I re-formatted the player from within the player, and then intalled the mp3fm app. It starts and copied the files to the walkman. I can browse through he songs on the player, but when I try to play a song it either hangs or just plays noise. As a test I use files that I had transferre before using SS. Are there any pre-reqs with the files in order to be copied with mp3fm? Thanks Carlos

I am using Connect Player with 3100+ songs, and although it is a bit slugish when I connect my AW3000, once it settles down it works OK. File transfer is fast as well. The two main hic-ups I have are that Artist link doesn't seem to work for all tracks (maybe I haven't got all the correct settings!) A couple of times the player has crashed when inserted a second CD to rip... the annoying bit here is that it requires a reboot (even after deleting al the Connect Player active tasks and TinyHTTP). I started using SS, but IMHO the benefits you get with CP are worth the hassle... I was glad to hear that Sony hasn't launched the new players in the US (according to today's front page news!) because the SW isn't ready (call me an optimist), but hopefully this is a sign of better things to come!

I have SS 3.3 with an HD3 with over 100 albums... and I have never had the problem you are describing. I have also used SS with an AW3000 (I have since moved this to a Connect) without hitches. Question... is the music OK when you play it through Sonic Stage? If it isn't I suggest deleting the album from the library abd ripping it again. If it is, perhaps the best thing would be to re-initialise the walkman and transfer everything again... with SS this is not a huge issue... In fact I am doing it that just now with my HD3 (for different reasons).

Is there a function in CP similar to the Auto Transfer in SS... which basically chooses, once the player has been connected to the PC, all the playlists and new additions to the library that have not yet been copied to the player and transfers them. It seems to me that in connect you have to select the stuff that you want and copy it! Any ideas? Carlos

After having the A3000 for a while, I got annoyed that I couldn't use the new features... so I came back to try the installatin of Connect Player once again. By playing around with the tab and up and down arrow keys, I was able to tab into the "accept this licence agreement" section, and eventually the next button was enabled. It would be handy if someone that has a computer where the installer works as designed, could post the key sequence to enable the next button. WOW!!! The player is slow as hell for bulk imports, but you can rent a movie while you wait for the PC to finish the work!!! ... but it opens a whole new game with the walkman!!! Don't give up on the CP, I guess the benefits outgrow the limitations of the player. Transfering one CD at the time is not much worse than SS... The one thing I am still waiting to see is how it reacts when you connect a walkman with 3000+ songs. At the moment I am transfering all the data that O had in SS (3000+ songs), which took about 40 minutes in SS... it took about 1 hour to import into CP, and is taken 1:30 hrs to transfer 2500+ songs... I say about 30 more minutes or so and I will be ready. It would have been nice for the player to have some sort of progress indicator... It looks as if the program hung, I know it is progressing because I can count the number of files in the walkman and see that one grwoing constantly. Carlos

The funny thing is tha the Language is right (English GB), it is just the region... That explains the funny behaviour... everything else except for the connect shop looks OK though. Having said that, I have tried connecting the walkman to Connect Player, and is slow as hell, and I have also tried to rip a single CD and I haven't managed to do it without any glitches... so I think I am sticking with SonicStage despite the fact that I will be loosing a couple of features from the A3000... hopefully Sony will release version 2 soon! Carlos

I managed to install the whole thing manually following the details on the installation ini file in the CD, but... the region is Japan!!! Anybody knows how to change the region once it has been installed? I will play around to try to find out how, and if not I will remove and try to install it again. Carlos

Thanks guys... I have scrolled down to the end of the agreement either with the mouse or the page down key, but it doesn't let me tab into the radio button section. The reason I know there is a radio button section below is because I have seen an "installation guide" somewhere on the web, and the Window is just that bit biger. Because the dialog is not resizable, I can not expand it to see the rest! Following the instructins for a manual install from the web somewhere else... I did the same, and I managed to install it, but it didn't run, it said that I needed to upgrade the OMG driver to 4.3, pressumably what's in the CD. I am backing up my library at the moment, and I will try to re-install everything again. If it works, I will post the procedure. Carlos
