  1. I can not get it to record digital recordings to the PC, the SCMS seems to be active, although I thought that the PC does not use this system Any ideas?
  2. With the current version of my app you select the input source and the level with a slider in the normal recording dialogue. The % value of input is shown. You should select about 20-25% of Line-In to be sure that no clipping accures. If you use the normal mixer for testing purposes, you should check if the title of the mixer says "recording view" or "playback view". It might be titled slightly different (have german interface here). The playback will allways be fine regardless of the input level, I do not know why, but the recording is very sensitive to this. With the proper setting the quality should be really good. (with a "real" soundcard, not onboard 1$ chip) Good luck! I am sure this can be worked out.
  3. Use Nero Waveditor or any other sound recording app (perhaps even the windows sound recorder) and check the level of the recorded signal. It is probably too high. You would need to further reduce the input level for recording. E.g. to 20-30 %. That is the only thing I can think of. Perhaps someday I will have the possibility in my app to check the input level directly, then I could add a warning message for this problem. I hope this helps.
  4. It is said to be 1700 characters for all. Because of group naming it might be less.
  5. No, I don't use NJStar (but I have it installed). I have the Windows XP multi language interface version, so I can change to Chinese/English/German, but not Japanese. I think it might be some problem in my code, where I use the current system code page or so. Or you do not have installed the support for europe or amercan codepages. A little strange. You see in the picture, that there is no problem to enter the title you provided. Another thing, that is strange, I could not type any such characters here in the message, they appeared as number codes, but I see your text fine. So I do not fully understand this input and codepage/unicode system. It must be some setting for the default code page, I will check that, too. I will do further tests, soon. Use the "check for updates" feature in my app in one or two weeks, I hope I will provide an update for this problem. chris
  6. I am very sorry, that this does not work on your system. As you see on the screenshots, this works very well for me. But I did not get the typing in OpenMG and SonicStage working, on my system in these apps only "?" appear after typing. I will need additional reports about this situation before I can understand and fix a possible bug in my app. Perhaps it has something to do with the keyboard settings you use. I would like to copy here some song titles I successfully typed in, but they do not appear after posting (only number codes). So you can not copy & paste them for testing. You could also check if you have installed code page support for the code pages 932 and 1252. These numbers are listed in the regional options in the third tab of the dialog. But I thing it might be a MD driver related problem.
  7. Please download and install the latest version from my website; I just put the latest build online (V1.2.1284.32531). Even if the problem persists with this version on your system, you can enjoy one new command. You can copy a number of text-lines from anywhere and paste the text onto a number of tracks for re-titling them. As you use the same OS as me, I do not fully understand the problem you encounter. Perhaps it is still neccessary to modify the registry so that OpenMG uses the double byte area as well. But I thought until now, that this is not related. You could try to do this registry-modification: http://www.minidisct.com/forum/showthread....=&threadid=9650 or http://www.minidisct.com/forum/showthread....=&threadid=8855 If this fixes the problem, please write again. Thank you
  8. Which version of the application, and which OS do you use? Also make shure, that you installed the needed fonts and codepage tables by adding the chinese and japanese keyboard input to windows. Also try to type chinese/japanese e.g. in notepad. If that works, it should work in my app, too. Also remember, that in the double byte area not all chinese characters are supported. Only the ones that are needed for Japanese, the kanji and hiragana characters. In the single byte area you can only type katakana. I also hope you do not use Windows 9x.
  9. sorry, forget to login  Here you see (in the single byte view) the characters that can be shown on the normal units as well. (tested with JB-980, N1) (Edit: removed image)

    open MG jukebox

This question comes up a few times a week. Please read some ot the stickied threads. Unfortenately this is not possible! You can only use realtime anogue recording to the PC in "real time".
  11. Sorry, the current version runs in test mode only on Chinese systems. I disabled this for all other languages. I think of providing a test mode capable version again for people that ask for it. But I also think it would be not really usefull as many people might just be fine with the "test-mode". Btw. the app should do what it is expected, it just records the selected tracks in anlogue mode (besides NetMD decks with optical out) to the PC. The other functions are listed at my page. If there are major incompatibilities I would refund the money, too. But upon start of the not activated app, a compatibility check is done, so a real problem should be very rare. Chris
  12. 1. There will be no loss as the recording is done digital. I think defect sectors will not be used for recording again. But this is only a guess. Sony states much higher numbers for recording and erasing. So I think there is no practical limitation on this. 2. no
  13. I also changed my app Win NMD for supporting Chinese titling. (you can see screenshot at http://christian.klukas.bei.t-online.de/fi...d/winNetMD.htm) But the latest versions are not available for free any more. With my app you can directly type in Chinese/Japanese (add the keyboard layouts to Windows before) or get the titles for albums from freedb. I was very glad when I got this to work, because I don't know Chinese and Japanese and so it was kinda impressive when I got automatically the titles for some Chinese CD albums I have
  14. The (enlarged) picture says 510. So I think thats a mistake.

    MD --> PC

You can try out my software Win NMD
  16. Hello, I just updated Win NMD. Now you can freely download and try out the software. If you like it and want to disable the Test-Version restrictions, you can easily activate the software. Edit: I disabled these "try out" option. Sorry. But my app now shows if the player is recognized after installing. But to use the app you need to "activate". Now the software is completely translated to German and Chinese. You can now also save the files in folders, that have Unicode characters in the folder names. I also made changes and tests, the Software should now work with NetMD decks. I tried it on a JB-980 without problems. I hope you like this new version. Edit: Hot new feature :!:  :!: Title the tracks using the DoubleByte area of the MiniDisc. Now you can title the songs using Japanese/Chinese characters. Just configure Windows to add the Japanese or Chinese keyboard setting and then type the titles. My software does all the codepage conversions automatically. Its great, I did not get this to work with OpenMG or SonicStage before. Edit 2: Katakana titling is now even possible in the SingleByte area, which means you can use the Japanse alphabet to title the songs and the disc. This characters are displayed correctly also on the player itself. Chris
  17. Hello all I just updated Win NMD. Now you can select the recording source inside the options of my app. So no need to open the Windows Mixer any more. The settings are stored and will be set each time you record a track. This makes the usage of my app even more easy. Now you can also Cancel the recording if you made something wrong. I think the new PayPal button for donation and download of my app is a good thing. This makes it possible to even enhance my app. E.g. I will soon have the possiblity to test my app with a NetMD deck. Thus compatibility will be enhanced in the future. The pricing seems to be good, the poll I added here a few weeks ago got positive responses. The next thing I did, was enhancing language support, now I include a Chinese, English and German interface. If you have ideas for enhancements or comments. Please post them here or mail me. Next I will try to work on a checkout solution without track-protection. But this seems to be not so easy. Thank you.
  18. Ah, well? I thought, the 910 _has_ a true line-out mode???!!!
  19. You can select the "checkout" command from the context menu of the app. Just click next or below to one of the buttons at the top. But as you need the OMG files (ATRAC encoded music), created by OpenMG or SonicStage, you can just as well use these apps for that. I included this only for testing and want to improve it later to let it work like SimpleBurner. Another new thing is the Paypal-Button on my website, so I made it now very easy to support the development by donation. I plan to make the app compatible with NetMD decks and I also have some expenses and a lot of work for the development. I hope you all understand this move towards a more commercial solution.
  20. Well, because it is not forbidden, and the API is developed with open interfaces, it is very likely, that this is not ilegal  I think if it is not forbidden, then it must be legal!
  21. It's not a bug, it's a feature!    Well, you could only use analogue (and "realtime") recording to the PC. You can use all recording apps available. My app "win nmd" makes it a little bit easier, because you get at least individual songs from MD with the title. We all wait for the next generation of MD, which is not crippled down or perhaps I change at one time to another Music Player / Recorder, that is more Computer like. But MD at the moment still pleases me. So do not be too disappointed. That thing still sounds great and makes good recordings, it is just a little bit more time to get it to PC.

    Software

Yes, but only if you use SimpleBurner and not SonicStage or OpenMG. Another reason to stick to this solution

    Software

Long play recordings (LP2/LP4) play on all "MDLP" compatible players. There are two types of discs available: 74 and 80 minute discs. All brands are the same and make beside the design no difference. With LP2 you get 160, with LP4 320 minutes of music. LP2 sounds very good, nearly like CD, LP4 sounds much worse, it is recommended for speech or when you dont listen carefully perhaps in the car. Remember that MD is a kind of HiFi equipment, it was developed without the PC in mind. You can record from CD player and radio etc. PC recording is just a new thing and not as comfortable like with a true PC gadget. So if you normally just use the PC for listening and storing music, MD might not be optimal, but its of course still better than a CD walkmen or a tape.

    Software

The app SimpleBurner (highly recommended) just copies a CD or a "virtual CD" (mounted CD image) to the MiniDisc. Because OpenMG makes a lot of trouble for many people, a lot of people, me included, use a virtual CD image and copy this to MD. So you have to "burn" a CD and then copy this to the MD. The "burning" of the virtual CD is automated by the app m3u2sb, so you just drag+drop all mp3 files to this app, hit "make image" and then "mount", then start SimpleBurner and copy the songs. Its of course more work than with a HDD-MP3 player, because of these extra steps, which require a little time. But if you buy or download one or two albums a week it is no problem to wait like perhaps 15 min. For a CD to copy. Also be aware that you can not copy the songs back to the PC. Deleting a MD a song is very easy, you just select the command at the player menu or use the mentioned software.
  25. Sorry for late answer. 1) no, you can checkout the omg files 2) unfortenately yes, I just use the checkout command from the NetMD api, checkout is not possible if the remaining counter is less than 1. So it behaves like OpenMG. But you do not see the counter with my app because I just added this for testing purposes. Perhaps someday in the future I have a lot of time and fortune and get this thing hacked somehow. I am sure that it is not "unbreakable" Best would be SimpleBurner like checkout of any file. So no track protection and no checkout hastle. But I have currently no time to investigate this all. I always promote m3u2sb as the optimal NetMD solution for now. Other than that use optical out from your CD player for true SP mode and super high quality and then my app for freedb titling. So MD is still very good and nice.
