  1. Leland, sounds interesting, what files do you backup and restore? Another questions, can you increase the checkout counter this way above 3 checkouts? would be interesting if OpenMG really supports this. What do you mean by "I can make a MD on one computer and check it in on the other to top up the tracks" esp. the "top up the tracks" I don't understand.
  2. Hi, thats fantastic if you really found a way to log the parameters! It would also be great if you share your findings. I would like to do fancy things like SP transfer or unprotected checkout of mp3 or omg files for win nmd! There are COM Spy utilitites which easily log the call sequence for example for omg checkout by SimpleBurner. I did this and tried to call these commands, but it simply failed. I don't know perhaps I need better initialization of the COM objects or special parameters... So if we find the used parameters for this calls we could do our own checkout, without track-protection. I remember a mail from someone who claimed to have found a way to create omg files by the API, he posted the command (but no info on inititialization or parameters) and dll he used. It was not netmd.dll. I just searched for this a longer time but did not find the mail :? Perhaps you should ask again for this in the mailing list. Another info, this COM Spy utility lists all COM Objects known to windows. There really a lot (!) of COM objects from OpenMG. Alone the names are interesting and perhaps its easy to find the link between the COM object name and the dll which implements it. It must be stored in the registry. cheers
  3. I think the N10 is the only recorder at the moment that does 64x transfer. The new models are stated to have 32x if I remember correctly. (unfortenatly)
  4. Click next to one of the buttons at the top to get the second context menu (first one is for the song list). There is command "checkout" (F3). it will checkout omg files. So they have to be allready created by OpenMG or so. Because of that and because of the missing feedback while checking out I recommend to use other programs for that at the moment. It also has no advantage in comparison with these programs. To the question, if it will be possible to checkout mp3s in the future... I would like to add this, and I also have a guess how to do it, but it didn't work when I tried the commands. So I have to wait until someone else figures it out or until I have much more time to find out how to do it  chris
  5. Not correct  Very basic support for transfer of OMG files is build in. But I suggest using Sonic and OpenMG as they do a better job on this. (e.g. progress bar) The command is in the context menu. (not the one for the title-list)
  6. Hi all I want to inform you that I uploaded the new version 1.2 of my app "win nmd". A very innovative new feature is freedb access for titling. This makes the following possible (usage instructions): 1. record a CD via optical or analog connection from your HiFi CD deck to MD 2. connect the NetMD player to the PC 3. select all songs of the album and choose "Get album info (freedb)" from the context menu. 4. the songs on MD are named after the album information stored in the freedb internet database. (similar to cddb) (this only works if the track length of the titles on MD are similar to the ones on CD and if you record all tracks of the CD and then select all songs of the album in the app) The feature list from my website: * Records and saves a number of individual tracks from MD on the PC as MP3 or WAV file. * Optionally records a number of MD tracks as one file on the PC. * Playback control of MD * Titling and reordering of tracks * Copy a list of the MiniDisc contents to the clipboard * "freedb"-access, get title information for CD albums that are on MD * Super easy titling in Japanese/Chinese, automatic code page conversion * Languages: Chinese/German/English I hope you like this new version. MZN-1 vs MZ-N707

The line-out of the N1 is true line-out. It gives very good quality when connected to PC or HiFi. If you use headphone out the sound level is very low in comparison, which makes problems with the recording quality. I heared that the hack for making the 707 to N1 gives no true line-out as there is a electric circut missing, so with 707 set to "line-out" only the volume will be set to max. This is different to N1 line-out.
  8. I find SonicStage also very solid (no crashing) but to my suprise OpenMG seems to be more reliable too, no crashes since update. SonicStage has some improvements for Import operation: It checks all files before import. So you'll be shure that the (long) import will run through. While OpenMG will show a messagebox as soon as it finds a file it can't import. Very anoying if you want to import a few hundred songs over night. Next improvement is that SonicStage creates correct Playlists for "mass" import. But OpenMG seems to put all files in the same playlist, if I don't specify another one ?! OpenMG has a more "traditional" UI, thus is easier to use and perhaps a little faster at this point. SonicStage seems to be optimized in certain points. For example all files are converted without a break if you checkout for example a CD. While OpenMG only converts the next track and then waits. But this brings no real advantage in speed.
