Yes! I have a Pioneer, it works great. You have to enable "synch recording" on the MD and then everything is absolutly great! You can use my "win nmd" app to title the MD-album afterwards with freedb :!:  For high quality CD albums I always do this. For downloads I use NetMD. Also good :!:

Right, I don't even want to change some window names or so. For example in SimpleBurner (the English version!) a message pops up and asks "delete all tracks?" but the buttons are autmatically translated by windows to "Ja / Nein" and not "Yes / No". So I think if the app sends "Y" for yes, it does not work, because the app should send "J" for "ja" (space for the default would work on all languages in this case). But its not _that_ important. I use m3u2sb at the moment and I am quite happy with it. I could even change the interface of windows to English because of the multi language interface setup I did. Perhaps only Nero is German, but I could install the English one too. But then again, it is just a suggestion, for me alone there is no need for this. I think it is not that difficult to read the keystrokes from a text file and not hard code them in the source. This even makes development and updates easier, but thats just what I would think without looking at the actual code. Greetings

Top Tip n.1- increase output of portable for hifi connection
tmeg replied to a topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
But my N1 has very high level line-out. I can hardly turn the volume up on my amp. I now even changed to headphone out when I want to listen with low volume. Also when connected to the PC I have to set the recording level of my SBlive to 50% otherwise it is clipping. So I think the line-out is powerful enough for me  But your idea  is good anyway for users of the 505 or 707 I think -
Hello, apparently good work so far on your software Although technically m3u2sb is still a little ahead  but I know that you have slightly different targets. What I want to say is, that your app does not work on my German install of Nero and Windows. Probably because the keys and shortcuts have different names. So I would be glad for me and probably others if you read the keys from a text file. So we can provide different "versions" of this file for different settups. It is then also more easy for you to just modify this. Another thing, you mention that your app is more reliable if no other windows appear because of focus problems. You could use my app "activate" to put any window to focus. (http://chrisxp.no-ip.info/files/activate.exe) Like "activate Editor" or so. (parameter 1 is part or complete title of the window that should get the focus) I could send you the (Delphi) Source if you need it. But you could also just use the .exe file. Or just leave it as it is. Perhaps the developer of m3u2sb can even be so good and help you with his code for creating the Nero compilations (nrg) I think he worked on this file format. You could also use my app for "polling" if the desired window has allready appeared. The activate program returrns error code 0 if it was successfull and error code 1 if it could not find the title. This way you would have not need to stick to fixed delay times in some cases. Thats all for now! Happy coding (if you have time) or just have a happy day with MD music!

I don't know if this could work. But with most (?) players you can increase the playback speed to I think 150 or 200%. Perhaps it is possible to record this playback and then use some audio tool to decrease the speed while not affecting the pitch? I have not tried this but it could be good for faster recording of speech. For music it might add quality problems. Just a thought.

 hehe good work. I wonder: does it send key-strokes or how does it control Nero? I think there is a Nero API available? Another thing I thougt of. The windows media player (9) does now even support a Nero Plugin for writing to CD and therefore I think also to an Image. Perhaps this is somehow useful too? I need to think later about that. Ah, and what do you think would be the advantage to use your program instead of m3u2sb? This works now for me very very good. Or nearly perfect, because with the daemon tools I don't even need to bother about burning the virtual CD, everything is automated. Perhaps I should try the software before posting

Create/Delete track marks on "protected" tracks
tmeg replied to S.S.'s topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Use SimpleBurner. -
I think this board makes everything that it should The similies indeed do not look very good. But I like the feature to search for new articles and the search for unanswered posts. Both I could not find on neowin.net which uses I think invision. Perhaps I am wrong there, but I think there is no need to invest much work on this.

I think there are Vaio Notebooks that have a internal NetMD drive. Unfortenately only for Music, but its perhaps good for MD fans.

RealOne is not that difficult to use. You simply somehow select "copy to device" or drop the mp3 files I think. Then there is a button "burn" or something like that. RealOne then transfers the songs. The advantage is, that it is not that pitty with VBR mp3 files and does not crash that often or at all. It's really easy if everything is set up correctly. Good luck!

1) Yes this is known, the CD standard does not allow longer discs than perhaps 150 min. 2) I noticed this a longer time ago, very annoying! I burned about 3 CDs with wrong Title order. I think this is "fixed" in the latest version, but in older versions you have to pay attention which file you select first and then, which file you select last. So start selecting the tracklist with the last track and then Shift+Click the first! If you drag+drop from the explorer use a similar technique. Drag then the first track of the selected list. HTH

I want to add, that I recently made some changes to the app. The "timings" for the recording should now be improved. In my tests I found that my app leaves out a maximum of about 1/10 sec. at the start and end of a song. (recorded song is a little shorter than on the original CD) The timings are OK for me, but if someone has the time you could do your own tests and give me details of timing problems might find. I also made changes to some commands so NetMD decks might work better now. So if one of these points is important for you, you should update and test the new version (1.2.1164.36403).

I have the N1 and also the 907 mic, the recordings are like CD, I hear everything on the rec like I hear it with my ears. Perhaps its because the Sony makes a automatic level adaption? I haven't tried manual level recordings, but I suppose that it should work fine too. Just try a player and the mic in some HiFi store out or test the one of your friend. HTH

You can open the .reg file with the text editor to see which keys are affected.

... and I found that images over 150 minutes do not work with simple burner :? But thats still a lot and its easy to make 2 images

One question, does this version need a key? If you need a key, then one could download Nero also from the developers (ahead). If you don't need a key, then thats a nice finding  But I have to say, that the m3u2sb idea with this other (really free) virtual drive is better and 100% legal. Btw. for recording "real" CDs I now use the digital out of my DVD player and record in SP mode. For MP3s I would say m3u2sb is best. But thats has been said probably a few times before  So I would suggest a new FAQ with nice directions for new users

Can someone who owns that unit confirm this?? This would be a huge advantage but I doubt it a little as you could not checkin divided tracks. I mean that does not matter for the ones who use RealOne or generelly don't store everything as OMG, but it would be a sight that Sony goes in another direction, away from Checkin/Checkout.
-
I don't understand this, but it sounds funny. Why would you rearrange the songs in random order? This is not difficult to program, but I don't fully understand what the advantage would be.
-
Perhaps these HiFi CD Burners can record in realtime to CD, so this would be another possibility if you don't want to use the PC. But then you would as mentioned still need a player with Line-Out (N1) or Optical out (deck). But perhaps even headphone out gives good results, I never tested this. If you have a good soundcard on the PC realtime-analog is still a very good and cheap solution.

 I second that what jamesdstark said. I am waiting for such a Car MD, too. My old radio is nearly brocken (display is defect), but sound is ok with the casette adapter from my N1.
-
That would be fantastic Then I would consider to upgrade. But I wonder why nobody realized this before??! On the sony message board someone even said that he used the N10 driver with his N1 and he found the device to work fast with this? Can this be true? I don't have the N10 driver so I can't test this.
-
I think as we mainly use the PC to encode the songs there should be no differences between the models. Or if they do improvements, they could and should make these updates available for all users.
-
You can't really count the character-count with the Windows apps I know as they all don't show the full title of the MD. Apps that work with Groups don't show the numbers and characters which encode the group-title-numbers. Apps that do not support Groups (like my win nmd) do not show the groups titles and numbers at all. You would have to count the characters with a Player that does not support groups or you use special software which reads and displays the full titles. Anyway as soon as you can't add more characters the title buffer is full. Don't know what the problem with this is  chris

Have you added the groups title and a few extra characters for the info about start- and end-track of each group?

The newest models (wow I had not expect THAT many new units in such a short time frame) e.g. the Sony MZ-N910 is stated to have 64x transfer Now I wait for an update of the higher end MD decks 8) The N1 seems to be fine for me for a while.
