  1. You can record LP2/LP4 on a HI-MD formatted MD? I had the impression that you could only use them in NetMD compatibility mode...
  2. It is possible that it is the MD player that has trouble reading them because of a malfunction. However, if all your discs are from the same type it is very possiblen that that we are talking about a bad batch here (Assuming you are reffering to one type of MD brand). I experienced several curruptions but not of the type you have.
  3. Deleting/Recording involves a TOC change. If your laser is missalligned than the TOC writing obviously puts it pack in place untill something down the rail missalignes it again. I am no technician so i cant be certain. I'd normally try an MD cleaner before repairs, but this does not sound like a dirty laser problem. Does shaking your MD a little while ideal/playing has any effect?
  4. Forget about uploading, for now. In NetMD and older MD's you cannot upload the files digitally, you can only record to the PC in real time. In the new HI-MD's you can upload, but only to a secure sony file that will not allow you to play it on a diffrent computer, let alone convert to WAV/MP3. A soon-coming sonicstage software update may change that but it is not assured. If you still want a robust MD than look at the middle ranged/High-end models. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N920.html http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N707.html http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N910.html http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NH1.html http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NH900.html
  5. For your knowledge: HI-MD records in ATRAC+/PCM The latter afaik cannot even be uploaded to the PC. However, you can use the units to record in ATRAC3/ATRAC(baked LP2) aka "NetMD" mode...which....cannot even be uploaded either.
  6. If im not mistaken, ATRAC SP is still a lossy so it cannot be compared to PCM.
  7. AFAIK, PCM cannot be recorded via sonicstage 2.0, and cannot be uploaded to the computer if recorded manually by the HI-MD unit. So you will have to rule out that option.
  8. I think the track limit on MD was 256. There ARE limits like this on HI-MD but i heard they are quit high. I would still advise to check this though.
  9. Are you familier with the simpleburner + nero method?
  10. I heard that with digital optical/coaxial connections you can avoid distortion in high volumes.
  11. Dont make me say it again: It will NEVER happen.

    Cleaning a MD

If there is nothing wrong with your equipment than i would advice not to clean it. A brush based laser cleaner can potentially leave tiny scratches on the laser.
  13. If you got an an MZ1 than any current MDR will better than yours for live recording :wacky: . But regarding to what you asked (exporting), it is not 100% assured that we will be able to digitally upload to the compuetr or copy to cd our recordings. What you can do with HI-MD right now, is upload HI-MD recordings (NOT the old SP/LP2/LP4 ones) to a sony encrypted file that will not allow you to export it to wav or burn a cd. In fact, you cannor even play it on another computer because it is licensing based... Hope you got what you needed.
  14. I mean, not that im against it or anything, actually its good that the minidisc community grows, but it gets into competition with the T-board doesnt it? :?:
