That is what I would say and probably what SonicStage does because a second exists of 1000 milliseconds.
-
Sorry, but I found a little bug. When a track is longer than 1 hour (whole CD's as 1 track) the calculation of the track-durating goes wrong. This goes ALWAYS wrong. Some examples: 1h:14m:3614s 1h:15m:3630s 1h:17m:3611s 1h:17m:3641s 1h:17m:3648s 1h:19m:3636s 1h:19m:3642s 1h:19m:3642s 1h:20m:3651s Also most of the durations of a track in Hi-MD-lister are 1 second more that SonicStage says. This is not so serious but has probably something to do with rounding the seconds.

Problem solved here!

Here the same problem, only 72 tracks are recognised but there are over 200 tracks on the disc. p.s. this program: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7944 does a better job and recognises all tracks.

Breaking News: Prototype Hi-MD Unit(s) Displayed @ CES
MDfreak replied to Christopher's topic in News
Does someone have this mp3 manager software for download? I know it doesn't work with MD's now but it is nice to fool a bit around with it to find out exactly what is does and how convenient it is. -
First I begin with the sad news: the competition is only ment for Dutch and Belgian people because the prices are given to us bij Sony Benelux. Now the good news: we have a small competition where you can win a Sony MCMD-R1 Hi-MD cardreader. We give away this cardreader 2 times. Once from 10 jan to 23 jan. The second from 24 jan to 6 feb. In this way you have 2 opportunities to win! The person with the highest score wins (in case of more higest score we pick one randomly). You find the competition here: http://www.MDcenter.nl/prijsvraag/ Succes!

It's the English version (a Japanese version on a European Sony-site would be pretty useless). And yes, I already installed it. The European 2.3 version is including Connect.

AAA Ni-MH batteries do not have as high capacities as AAA AAA max = 700, AA max (at the moment) = 2300 So high capacity with AAA-size batteries is not as high as with AA-size

Sony claims that you can copy about 8x 128 MB (so about 1G of data) on one set of batteries, but I've not had the time to test myself. Also I use a set of 600 mAh Ni-CD rechargables that I already had so this also will shorten the batterylife a little. When I have some more detailed info I will let you know off course.

I see the news of the MCMD-R1 on the MDCP frontpage. Some people have spotted him on several sites but in fact I got mine today! Bought it at www.videopartner.nl for 89 euro's and the cardreader works perfect! I tested it with a Sony Memorystick and a xD picture card (can it read xD-cards? YES, althought xD is pretty rare with like say 8 in 1 or 6 in 1 cardreaders, the MCMD-R1 reads xD nicely). Copying goes pretty fast and status-info (about the meaning of the different states of the statusled) are on the back of the reader so you can always read what the reader is doing (or what goes wrong). Sadly for all those people that are not from Holland or Belgium, but MDcenter.nl has already it's third contest! This time you can win a MZ-NH700 Hi-MD walkman given to us by Sony Netherlands. The only thing we ask our visitors is to tell us which of the by us presented statements about Hi-MD are true and which are not. You can compete at: http://www.MDcenter.nl/prijsvraag/ (I hope this topic is not seen as spam)

Questions/Comments for Marc's uploading utility.

Exactly like I ment! Very nice (as always)! It would be a real joke if this program could do more and better than the official Sony tool that we are still waiting for, but if I see how the developement is going now, this would not be entirely impossible!  -

Nice build! The program immediately found my OMG-dir being E:OpenMG (probably in the registry) and found about 719 OMA-files  The only thing it might lack is being able to select more than one file from the "found" list with CTRL and SHIFT for batch-conversion, you now have to select every file separately to get it into the batch-list. It may be a minor change/add but with converting more files can be very handy (probably you just forgot to implement it). -

That's why I always create my music-database in a directory called E:OpenMG or D:OpenMG for easy finding the oma-files and cleaning the database. -

Everything works fine except when himdrenderer is ready the "conversion complete" popup comes and that himdrenderer is shut down by Windows because of a problem (simply said it crashes) -
Making the USB-socket available isn't a very good idea. I contacted Sony about this and there is a reason why they left out the USB-connector. With the early versions of the NH1 (with USB-cradle) the NH1 had a change of overheating during high-speed data/audio-transfers for long times because the NH1 could not get enough cooling due to the cradle. So to prevent NH1 units to get damaged Sony decided to remove the USB-connector from the cradle.

Optical recordings and ending up with one big track? Do you have forgotten to enable the SYNCH REC (Synchronious Recording mode)? This takes care of trackmarks even if there is no 3 sec pause between tracks (when you are recording optically). -

Nice to implement the batch-function in the GUI-version! By the way about: "we don't need it". I think that there will always be a need for your program because IF Sony releases their own program it will only be possible to export analog recordings. Your program can also convert optical recordings and also omg-files that are on the PC (when you don't have the original mp3, wav, CD anymore). So I'm sure that if you can get the decoding near to perfect (and I think you are very close) there will be also people that need your program if the Sony programs is on its limits. So keep up the good work! -

To keep it simple I also prefer a GUI made by Marcnet, otherwise you are stacking program upon program and that may be no problem for advanced users that know what they are doing, but the average user doesn't understand how to use all separate parts. With a separate GUI you would get: GUI that uses Hi-MD-renderer. Hi-MD renderer uses Sony directshow filters. And those filters come with SonicStage. Not very simple to understand for everyone and a lot of things that can generate problems if one of the components is not available. N.B. I tested the batch-program and the Idea is very nice and it works fine. Also the installer is usefull for less advanced users. Maybe combining efforts to generate 1 program with all functionality and a full windows-based GUI? -

I did some more testing (now with version 003) Source: audio CD (75 minutes, 18 tracks) Recorded: optical digital from CD-player to Hi-MD (Hi-SP mode) Imported in Sonicstage Converted to wav and played back in Winamp The soundquality is excellent! Only problem, I still hear a repeat at the end. I analysed the repeat some more and it is always about 5 seconds, so there seems to be a problem with the last part of the extracted audio. -

Nice of you to add the popup for selecting an input-file. Personally I didn't have any problems with the command-line inputs but now the program is a lot more userfriendly! Now everybody can use it without knowledge of DOS or the commandline! Just start the program and select the oma-file that you want to convert! VERY NICE! -

I just want to let you know that version 0.02 of HiMDrenderer works with my PC fine (just like the first version). The only little error I found was that at the end of the file the last bit of music that is fading out is repeated (the last half second or so) version 0.01 did not have that problem (with the same oma file) but you can always chop that part of. Furthermore I noticed that the second version produces a slighty smaller wav-file than the first (maybe by default there is some more music that is seen as repetition) I used version 0.02 with it's default settings. -
