  1. That's BS. Track D will change it's position to number 2 and the rest will copy to the end or after the track u have selected (select the way u want in the menu)...
  2. That's BS bro. USB 1.0/1.1 = 11/12 Mbps USB 2.0 = 480 Mbps That's a fact
  3. Yup, that's one hell of a setup, the best there is btw (as for the cpu and ram). What are ur transfer rates?
  4. I have already posted this, and majestic has commented on it too. USB1.1 is "theorically" 11Mbps, whereas USB2.0 is "theorically" 480Mbps. Now, to the math: 11Mbps is able to transfer 1408 Kb per second @ it's full glory and 480Mbps transfers up to 61440 Kb per second. This all realies in whatever compression mode u use, LP2 or LP4 that is. LP4 uses an ATRAC encoding similar to an MP3 encoded at 66 Kbps. So it is the same bit rate. Currently, NetMD units do only up to 64x transfer (the high-end ones). So, doing the math, 64x66 Kbps = 4224 Kbps. If u understood up to this point, then ur good. It's certainly easy to see, that a USB1.1 11Mbps bus CAN easily HANDLE a mere 4.2 Mbps  Now on to LP2: LP2 uses and ATRAC encoding similar to an MP3 encoded at 132 Kbps. Using the 64x transfer rate, u'd be up to: 64x132 Kbps = 8448Kbps. Again, a USB1.1 bus WOULD still HANDLE easily 8.5 Mbps (for 11 Mbps). Now u may ask: Where the hell goes my bandwidth? I have USB1.1, a good USB shielded copper cable, and... Have u thought about ur CPU? U're processor itself? Have u tried encoding an MP3 from a CD to the HDD? Is it done instantainly? NO, IT'S NOT! It requires the processor to encode data into blocks and then join them together in a single file. The faster ur processor is, the fast u'll encode an MP3, the faster u'll encode an ATRAC file to the MD. Currently, a P4 2Ghz, or AMD's counterpart Athlon XP 2000+, encode an MP3 at 128Kbps at 35-40 times! So, u'll still need a faster CPU to handle 64x for LP2 encoded ATRAC files!!! OF course, no USB1.1 and 2.0 will reach it's maximum bandwidth, due to bus that leaves the USB port and goes to the Southbridge or I/O Chipset (ServerWorks motherboards with 64-bit 66/33 Mhz PCI-X slots) on ur motherboard... Clear?
  5. No, even if u get a PC-Link u'll only make digital copies of music, but u won't be able to transfer ur titles. U'll need a DIY parallel interface, and then get a proggy to transfer the titles. But that's not easy, requires soldering and knowledge. I'd shoe u the page, but I can't remember. Using this interface is the only way to copy titles into MD from computer... Sorry m8
  6. Ok, good luck  Then post it here with the veredict
  7. I'd like to know what is the ATRAC Type/IC code on the MZ-R700... Thx
  8. MDLP is stereo encoded music, but in less bit rate...
  9. ok, np. I'd suggest sumone to do that for u, in exchange of some money. Ask a local HI-FI, TV repairer... Ohh, btw, good luck
  10. I'd say it works coz the radio function lies on the remote, not the unit itself. When u hack the unit, u don't hack the remote... I'm 99.9% sure that u can still use the radio, but don't make my words urs...
  11. Yep. Put it along with the cellphone on those side trays, otherwise it'll prolly sund the alarm checkpoint. There's a user here that was passing it with the MD on the hand and the security guy wanted to see what it was, coz it could be a damn bomb  ! so he just stood there explaining the guy that it was a digital music equipment, lol. ROLF
  12. I'm sorry teacher, but, with all the respect, everyone here (or most indeed) knows it, with np. But there's always sumone who doesn't know. Thx, and don't get me wrong.
  13. yeah, that voids the warranty. If don't fell well about this, don't do it. Check it out here: http://www.mtsu.edu/~hhw2b/470mod.html PS: That's for the MDS-JE470, but the MDS-JE480 has the same layout if u wanna know that...
  14. Or get the MDS-JE480 and add the optical out (the mainboard only has the space for it). Ask a local repairing shop to make it for u (that's what I did - > look in the sig)
  15. Get the 71's... The 70's had the problem with excessive bass and to "mute" highs. The 71's have about the same bass, but the highs are much more clearer! U don't even need to mod them. sony learned and corrected that incident with the 70's... The 71's are the way to go! I love them!
  16. U need at the very least 2seconds. But I'd suggest u 3 seconds. U can use winCue or pause between songs that is even more easier to use (by personal experience, I use both). Get there here: http://www.my-minidisc.com/index.php?langu...ownload_en.html Scroll down  ...
  17. U'd need a data cable. If it's not a NetMD unit, u won't be able to copy the names, only the sound... Get used to it. These are the true MD's. NetMD appeared to face MP3, but, by now, I won't buy a NetMD unit, even tho I have gigs of mp3's... MD is MD, and and still don't like NetMD. Just my 2 cents... EDIT: And I think I won't...
  18. Why would u like to do so? BTW, does ur unit work? (Or is it screwed up?)
  19. That PC-Link gives the computer an optical out. It won't allow u to record at anything faster than real time... Sorry.
  20. Ok, used the original hack and works pretty well. The numbers that were stored were the same, and my unit had/has the same firmware. I will receive my RM-MC11EL shortly ('bout 1-2 days)... So far so good  !
  21. maia

    Urgent

The 909 is a non NetMD recorder...
  22. Wouldn't all of u answer my question if u don't mind? My unit is coming tommorrow and I need to know b4 I do the hack pls...
  23. Might be silly, but have u tried the portables way to get into service mode? I know the decks don't have the hold function. Just give it a try... Might be similar.
  24. Yes, the N1 has both line in and mic in (as well as mini-toslink optical)
