  1. I laugh at your improper use of terminology. Then why reply to the thread in the first place? Useless post +1, ne? The contents of the MZ-N1 disc are outdated. Go download SonicStage 2.0 from Sony Connect which also contains the drivers that you requested instead. Unofficial drivers-only installer, by the way. Should be the same as what is packed with SonicStage 2.0 from Connect. So use the Connect.com installer.
  2. English? Unable to even begin to understand what your problem is. [Read this first] NetMD software FAQ: SHOUTING 4 HELP LIK THIS SAYING "PLEASE HELP ME" WON'T HELP U MUCH, EITHER, BY THE WAY. U GET WhaT I MeAN? Just a thought. Follow the instructions in the aformentioned thread and install SonicStage 2.0 from Connect.com.
  3. Don't use WMA. Try decoding the MP3s into WAV files, then transfer using SonicStage. Or look at the Nero/SB transfer method. Better yet, if you have the original CDs, rip WAVs using a program like EAC from them and transfer over using SS (or insert CD and use Simple Burner 2.0).

  6. yes - sonicstage2 supports most (if not all) sony netmd devices, sharp/pana is unknown so that users who keep leftover outdated files on their system won't come back to us complaining it won't work
  7. Yes, I'm lurking here for a few days while I get my system and things sorted out. I don't see why it would not work, as long as you don't use a kernel provided by a distro that doesn't have the proper vfat/scsi/usb built in (since I assume most other distros just build a huge fscking kernel to support everything instead of what I use). Plug it into the USB port, and it should be detected as sda1 or sdb1 or something to that effect. ## note the "#" sign. yes, you must be root when creating the mountpoint # su # mkdir /mnt/sda1 # vim /etc/fstab ## add entries to fstab to allow for normal user to be able to read ## quit vim, or whatever your editor of choice was # : wq # exit $ mount /mnt/sda1[/code] Somehow set GRUB to chainload to the device, for those that don't have mainboard booting. If it does support booting from USB, I don't see how much different it would be from using a 128MB USB-drive to load the essentials like kernel and crap. Need MBR? Be quite slow, though. --- Edit: Better yet, this. Replace USB <---> Hi-MD. No user by the name of "the_stamp". MadDuck? Damn, same timestamp as admin. boo. Give me a Hi-MD unit, and I'll have it working perfectly with Win95 and something older than a PII 300 if I can find the hardware.

  13. Not my rule, now is it, hmm? Nope, doesn't look like it is or ever was. Go away, iPod-er.
Maybe if you weren't so demanding in your words, I may have actually had something useful to contribute. Caps == bad.
  15. Cracks == illegal. Besides, if someone knew and spoke, they'd be quickly hunted down by Sony. ::cough:: First Mistake: storing your files as .omg files. 20GB of pretty much useless files. You could try to run Program FilesSonyOpenMGOjbsir.exe, but it's pretty much a useless and futile attempt since you burnt the original stored database/encryption. Delete the 20GB of files and recopy them from original sources using EAC as .wav and use FLAC if your disk has the space to store lossless copy of music. Decompress the .flac to .wav and import into SonicStage as .omg, delete the .omg when done. Second Mistake: You use OpenMG. SonicStage 2.0 > SonicStage 1.5 > OpenMG 2.2.
  16. Try to utilize the program which is this. It simplifies transfer by using Simple Burner. Not sure if that will help you with the situation. Don't make images over 160 minutes. Why not make seperate 80 minute images?
  17. Weird. I'll give Win98SE a shot through VMWare sometime later and see what the problem is. I'll test both the original ISO copy and the trimmed. It could be a problem with the program itself, and not something that was removed. For now, Windows 98SE users who want to use SonicStage are recommended to upgrade to something higher. Editing the installer thread to reflect this change until further notice.

    MD Issues

No. With SonicStage 2.0, there are unlimited transfers to the device; thus, you do not need to "check-in" files. You should be able to delete the tracks as long as you are connected to a computer equipped with a new version of SonicStage/Simple Burner by simply loading the software and deleting the tracks/initializing the disc.
  19. It really depends on what type of music it is, and the type of 'phones used. For example, when I listen to trance [which is, always], I plug in at around 15/30 with the EX71SLs, EQ tweaked for mids and treble [since the plugs have booming bass]. With the D66SLs, it's tweaked for bass, and it goes from anywhere from 10-15/30. I have yet to hit AVLS. Anything louder just hurts my ears.
  20. This is a common problem with "lower" and "middle" -end range units. Try grabbing a can of compressed air and spraying the unit (lightly!) It's not an issue with the hack, really. It's just improper button mapping due to faulty unit/dust buildup.
  21. Just wanted to chime in here. It's actually better if you go AAC -> .wav, and not AAC -> MP3. By going with the latter, you are decoding the AAC file to .wav, then having iTunes recompress it into an MP3. Then, transfering it to your unit using m3u2sb decompresses the new MP3 into .wav, then Simple Burner compresses that with ATRAC3 [LP2/LP4]. Bad. You lose a lot of sound quality. If you own the original CD, it would be a lot better if you just directly copied CD -> MD using Simple Burner. Then again, if all you have are AAC files, use iTunes to convert it to a .wav file. And then, there's the problem if you bought the file from the iTunes Music Store. Heh.
  22. Nope. Sony doesn't make NetMD software for Macintosh [yet]. Your best bet if you want to use NetMD would be to boot into OS9 [not classic] and run VirtualPC with a compatible version of Windows, and then NetMD software inside of that. It's been said to work, but I haven't tested it yet on my old iBook. Either that, or, you could get an optical out device like the Xitel MD-Port I/O or some other external soundcard solution which has optical out so you can transfer to your N910 in real-time by playing back the files in iTunes or whatever media player you use.
  23. SonicStage 2.0 supports unlimited checkouts to all OpenMG-compatible devices, provided that you own the original CD/MP3 which you use to convert to ATRAC3(+). No word yet on downloads offered from Sony's LabelGate/Connect service.
  24. Yeah, that's kinda what I meant to say. Excuse my broken and incoherent English. :whatever:
  25. Try running Ojbsir.exe in the Program FilesSonySonicStage directory, and see if that will recover anything. If not....I don't think there's any other way to recover, execpt for deleting the database [which means, you lose your files as well]. Just a suggestion - don't keep your files in ATRAC3 format. It wastes space; it's better [if you have the disk space to do so] to store in a file's original format [.wav, if you copy from CD; if you're converting fro MP3 -> ATRAC3, keep it as MP3], and just let SonicStage reconvert it whenever you need to transfer.
