  1. Are any of you by chance trying to transfer albums that contain tracks with really long titles?
  2. The only option I remember was the "Delete converted files from the hard disk after transferring". Which would just prevent SonicStage from cluttering up your hard disk with converted Atrac3+ files...
  3. Please read this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7070 In short, you cannot upload with NetMD recorders, you would need to record to your PC realtime via analog (or get a deck with optical out). Only HiMD recorders support uploading of tracks (and only recordings done in HiMD mode).
  4. Thanks Dex for that thorough investigation!!! I haven't done too much testing on my part, but from what I have done so far (uploaded a few PCM and HiSP recordings), I haven't ran into any issues. EDIT: (for sh*ts & giggles) I just opened a WAV file in GoldWave and split the file into 10sec segements using CD compatible WAV format and alignment, then imported these tracks into SonicStage and transferred to my Rh10 in Atrac3+ (352, 256, & 192) and the result was smooth playback without any gaps/pops/clicks whatsoever. These Atrac3+ tracks also playback gapless in My Library after being transferred back from my Rh10 to PC. Creating an audio CD with SonicStage from the Atrac3+ tracks that were uploaded from HiMD results in a perfect gapless track. However, when the uploaded tracks are then converted back to WAV via SonicStage and burned to an audio CD with Nero, there are gaps/pops. Hope this helps.
  5. You will most likely get better results with a soundcard that isn't integrated. That may be what is causing any unsightly hiss. Also be sure you are not plugged into the mic-in, as this will boost the signal (and hiss). Here is the soundcard that I purchased awhile ago to record from my NetMD portables: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...o=23680&CatId=0 . 7.1 Surround, also has digital/optical out. Not too bad for $24.99! I've had very good results with this card whilst recording analog from MD. EDIT: I definitely understand your frustration. I purchased a NetMD a few years ago for the same reasons and was very disappointed as well. I have since upgraded to HiMD which is a great improvement as far as recording and then uploading via USB. If you decide to go the HiMD route, keep in mind that at this time you are not able to upload recordings made on NetMD portables, only uploading of HiMD-made recordings is possible.
  6. What kind of soundcard are you attempting to record via?
  7. I would strongly suggest installing the newest version of the SonicStage software discussed here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14137&hl= There are links for the download in the post.
  8. Yeah I'm not sure why it's happening... I started another post regarding the issue here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14153&hl= I have been trying numerous things, but as yet have been unsuccessful.. Hopefully we can get it figured out, I miss posting from within SonicStage.
  9. Thank You!!! Both of you!!! Just a quick note for anyone that is having trouble renaming: If you can't see the "zip" file extension, you need to disable the option to "Hide extensions for known file types". This can be done by opening any folder, going under "Tools/Options" from the menu and then clicking on the "View" tab. From there simply uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
  10. Do you need to upload to a MAC? If not, you can get the MZ-RH10 for a good bit cheaper... The only difference is that the M100 can upload to MAC.
  11. Actually I think it looks more like this: [attachmentid=1397] The "H" has the same sort of dot that the "i" has... Though I guess that's not how it reads on the player regardless.
  12. I tried switching them to MDCF and adding the / slash after http://forums.minidisc.org, and still get the error screen... hmm... I've even tried turning off my firewall completely just to check, and I still get the message. I also reset web settings in IE, but still the message....
  13. HiMD has the ability to record in PCM (uncompressed), as well as various levels of compressed recording.
  14. Hi all, I downloaded SonicStage 3.4 just fine, and after installing went to the registry (as I have with all previous versions) to change the connect store link so it would link to the forums here instead. To do this I went to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\EMD\HomeURL\0 And changed the following entries: MenuTitle - Changed to "MiniDisc Community Forums". Title - Also changed to "MiniDisc Community Forums". Url - Changed to "http://forums.minidisc.org" In the past after I had done this, it successfully changed the connect store to the forums here, which I liked. I've tried it with this version and now after the forums start loading on the page, it gets redirected to a page with the Connect logo that states "Please connect to the internet to access the CONNECT online music service". I have located this connect error page on my local computer here: "C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicStage\Data\EMD\Default\weberr.html". And I have even tried renaming it, but then the page just comes up "Cannot be displayed"... Does anyone happen to have any suggestions on this one? I know that SonicStage uses IE, so I have checked most of the settings in IE to be sure nothing was funny in there, and couldnt find anything. Any suggestions are welcome... Screenshots follow:
  15. You could probably use the automatic setting, however I never use it and wouldn't really recommend it. Manual would probably be best so you could boost the signal more if you want.
  16. You know that's funny, because I tried that hack when I first installed, but I keep getting an error screen that shows the connect logo, and says you must be connected to the internet. This of course appears after about a half-second of showing the forums. ???
  17. I still see LP4 as an option when transferring to a NetMD formatted MiniDisc with SonicStage 3.4 (see attached screenshot) I think it was just dropped as a codec for transferring in HiMD mode. So you should be fine to create standard NetMD discs with LP4.... SimpleBurner has this option as well, yes.
  18. I picked up a set of pretty decent quality contact microphones off of eBay just recently for $20. They work great for recording through walls/doors etc. I haven't had to use any amplifier either. Although I did need a cable adapter, as the ends were RCA. Much cheaper than $299, so might be worth trying out. Heres a link to another listing for the same contact mic's on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-PIEZO-CONTACT-MICS-P...1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Ahh... I misread and thought he was using an NH900
  20. I think it depends on the download link you used. I used the european link for my first install (on the laptop here), and the US link for my second install (computer upstairs). The laptop states that connect is not available in my country, while the PC upstairs goes right to the Connect Store.
  21. I would be somewhat hesitant to do the editing on the unit itself. There have been a few occasions where I have edited tracks (combined/deleted/etc) on my RH10 and it completely trashed the disc with no warning. Ended with the unit displaying "Cannot Record or Play" and me ready to throw the unit at the wall. SonicStage wouldn't read anything on the disc either. I know there was a thread awhile ago addressing this problem, as other members had similar things happen. My suggestion would be to upload all the tracks to SonicStage and then do your editing on the PC. Just in case.
  22. I downloaded and installed the European version (I'm in the states) because it was available before US version was. Seems to work fine. The only problem I could see arising is the Connect Store probably won't work. I never use connect so doesn't affect me.
  23. They are both from xiph.org, yes.
  24. Any ideas if the tracks do this when transferred back to PC (after being deleted from "My Library", or uploaded to a different computer) with SonicStage 3.4?
  25. I had an issue trying to d/l the users manual for the MDS-E10 Pro deck from the site yesterday... said the file was corrupt or something... Haven't tried again yet.
