  1. I am new to this whole MD thing. I dont yet own one, but I intend on purchesing one once the Hi-MD format is realeased. So, I have not used SonicStage ever. Does this program allow you to rip off of CDs? I used to use Real Player to rip songs in ATRAC format off CDs. But, in the new version (Real Player 10) it doesnt rip to ATRAC. So, I just want to make sure that SonicStage will rip to ATRAC (which I assume it will).
  2. ahh ok, THat is what I thought. But, i have a follow up question. Does the MD unit have to be on for it to be active? Or can it be off and once it detects a signal it turnes on and recored?
  3. What is Syncho Record? I havent seen that before.
  4. From my experince of doing vocal recordings on MD, once it hits the red it clips and sounds scratchy. It by far does not sound "fuller"
  5. The specs say that this Hi-MD player/recorder has an "AM/FM/TV/Weather band tuner". I know I can record onto MD via Mic and Line-in, btu can i tune it to a radio station and hit record? I dont see that mentioned anywhere one way or the other.
  6. Does that set allow you to record from radio to MD? It doesnt say it on there.
  7. A lot of people say that the removable media is what makes MD less efective than MP3s, but seriously, who is going to listen to more than 1 GB of music at a time? Is ti really that hard to switch a disk? Personally, I think removable media is what maked MD so great. If you lose a disk that has 8 hours worth of music on a disc that cost you $7, oh well! if you lose 12 hours worth of music on an MP3 player that cost you $300, BIG OOPS!
  8. Very interesting. but I am looking more for something that is along the professional lines. Not a hoe system.
  9. Can someone please explain to me the technical differance between the Line-IN jack and the Mic-In jack on the new Hi-MD? Some people were having a fuss over the fact that their was an early report that only Mic-In recordings would be uploadable to PCs (this rumor has since been defunct). But what is the differance? Is their a sound quality issue?
  10. I am a bit confused as to compatability of recording. I know you can record onto old MD, but if you record on the old MDs with Hi-MD equipment can they be played back on old MD equipment. Judging by what have see, I would think not.
  11. OOPS! never mind! I found my answer http://www.minidisc.org/hi-md_faq.html#_q93
  12. I dont totally understand all the specs of Mini-Discs. And my question is this: WHen it comes to recording on a MD via the Mic In jack, how is that encoded? Are their only a few rates it can be recorded in or can all the Kbs levels be utilized?
  13. I am a multi-media coordinator at a church. We currently offer our services to individuals in cassette format. I am researching switching our recording over the MD format. However, people still request copies on cassette. Are their any decks out there that have an MD recorder AND a cassette recorder? I would like to record onto MD, but copy it onto cassette.
  14. Could the release of Hi-MD mean the eventual fading away of audio cassettes? Personally, I think if Sony was smart, they would begin to phase out audio cassette players in ALL their home stereo equipment and phase in Hi-MD players/recorders. I don’t see why they wouldn’t consider doing this. Hi-MD is FAR superior to cassettes. Personally, if Sony offered a stereo system with a Hi-MD player/recorder in it and not a cassette player, I would by it. I don’t want to use cassettes anymore. MiniDisc is the thing to have.
