  1. I haven't had such problems, I plug it to stereos quite often and it sounds just fine, although I don't have such spoiled ears that can't appreciate not-so-hi-fi-sounds
  2. I find Hi-LP a perfect compromize of sound quality and quantity and battery consuming. For me, Hi-LP isn't bad at all, and I can fit 34 hours to one disc, excellent.
  3. Rofl.. It didn't even open before it showed the error-message for me
  4. Simpleburner doesn't work for me anymore for some reason It used to work before just fine, but now when I plug my Hi-MD device to computer via usb, the program gives errors and quits. I have tried to re-install, uninstall and re-install the newest version but nothing works. Sonicstage has never worked either. Is there anything I can do? Some alternative programs? Thanks in advance.
  5. golden oldies of the 90's Eurodance (and still rocking) Scooter & DJ BoBo - all songs + more @ 64k Hi-LP
  6. well.. I used a power-adapter that I bought from electronics shop, which I have used while recording analogically to regular Minidiscs (Hi-MD-formatted) without problems.. I solved the problem by removing the adapter and put a new battery in it, now it works fine, but I don't want to waste battery to recording :/
  7. I have transferred nearly all CD's from my two favourite artists via Simple Burner to Hi-MD, then I tried to record music analogically from cd-player (because Simple Burner doesn't recognize some CD's because of copy-protection, which I'm very angry about) but then after few seconds of recording, my MZ-NH600 just plain stops. No editing, nothing.. the system just turns off and is like nothing happened. WTF is this?!
  8. I have tried 48k on music, at first it sounds horrible, but if you just let it play and forget about the bitrate and just enjoy the music it did turn out to be just (barely) acceptable.. but I still prefer Hi-LP anytime. But it would have been nice to be able to record at 48k via analog, and even more at 128k, I'm sure 128k a3+ would be much better than 132k a3.
  9. and since Hi-LP is about as good as 128kbps mp3 then Hi-MD can hold much more music than a CD, or try to enjoy 64kbps mp3.
  10. HI-LP is fine for me. but it is true that some songs sound better than others, try Kelis - Milkshake on Hi-LP. For me, it sounds amazing. As Hi-MD blanks hasn't arrived yet in Finland (Go Sony!) I think it's best to have 10 hours of completely fine-quality music to an 80min disc. I haven't heard any cases that LP4 > Hi-LP yet, for most of the time Hi-LP sounds almost 2x better than LP4.
  11. Well.. I can, and I'm pretty :| about it, the gain of quality to loss of recording time is not good enough.
  12. I don't get it why record music at PCM, since Hi-SP is very very close to it anyway.. unless you want it absolutely perfect.. 95 mins of music or 8 hours with slightly worse quality (I'd take the latter, altough 34 hours of ok-quality is even better)
  13. I listen my music at Hi-LP and I'm perfectly fine with that
  14. I listen Techno and Pop, and it seems like Hi-LP is much more suitable for those genres. And Hi-LP is not just tiny bit better than LP4, I can say that it is about 50-75% better, as I have been listening LP4 alot, and I was very positively surprised by the quality of Hi-LP. I listen minidisc all kind of places, and I usually play it at maximum volume, and it's great, I think I have tinnitus in my both ears, but I don't notice it unless I think about it. Of course, if I specifically think the quality while listening Hi-LP that it is not that great, but usually I just enjoy the music I have been listening for ages and I don't think "this is not good sound-quality", thus Hi-LP is just as good as listening CD-quality, it is not any less enjoyable.
  15. Hi-LP is surprisingly good in my books. If you are travelling and want to listen music, Hi-LP is perfectly acceptable.
  16. Sorry, but could someone explain what does it mean to record language to MD? If it is just speech wouldn't 48kbps be just fine?
  17. I bought a 600 model a few days ago.. I love it! Hi-LP is superb quality (at least in pop/techno music) but 48kbps was a bit dissapointing, somewhat worse than LP4. Transferring/managing files with simple burner and SS2 was easy and quite fast. Hi-MD Rocks!
  18. skyter, I'm glad that I don't have such spoiled ears to not enjoy LP4/Hi-LP.
  19. I meant that I was relatively impressed. And the amount of music you can fit into a minidisc is (more than) enough compensation of the loss of quality.
  20. skyther said: Hi-LP is 48Kbps. I suspect you have semi-fallen for Sony's marketing ploy that ATRAC3+ is better than every other codec out there and is far superior to MP3, when it is not. 64Kbps MP3 > Hi-LP, unless you fancy filling your ears with mud. People, read: You should be able to tell something from that.
  21. it is very well possible, and what I have heard, they already managed to make 48GB minidisc, but don't expect it to come anywhere soon as it would be too expensive or something.
  22. 3 days of music in PCM format and 3 months in 48kbps. Would be nice, I wouldn't mind if the player were somewhat bigger.
  23. when Hi-MD is supposed to hit Europe again? and especially in Finland. Any spot for prices? I really hope that they won't be over 2x more expensive than in US as it was previously stated. Come on.. 399€ for NH900, ridiculous..
  24. I too wish that the screen would be much larger.. my MZ-N510's screen is ridiculously small
  25. Really!? That's super news! Now I will be getting my 600 in Finland DOWN ROAD
