Hi , just got my RH1 yesterday, has anyone else noticed that the black plastic with "push open" on it has some give?, nothing much , creaks a little when pushed but i did notice it.

I always keep an eye on ebay for cheap hi-md units and i have noticed a large increase in value of them. A couple of years ago you were lucky to get £50 for a NH700 , last week i saw one sell for £110 , this was for a used but in great condition unit boxed with everything but would be the equivilent of paying £170 for a 15gb 3rd gen Ipod (try £40 on ebay). I bought my NH700 for £149 new when it came out! NH1 regularly sells for £130+ and the RH10 £150+ . Its nice to know that your collection is still worth a few quid.

Sounds much better than my rh10, clearer , better seperation between instruments and i love the size! Better start uploading my old discs asap!

Have admired from afar for ages, now with a Black Keys gig coming up i decided to get it. First immpressions are great, it is small and light and sounds fantastic! Sony guy said he couldnt get them in quick enough!

Dont think Sony is trying to compete with Ipod anymore, they are now marketing a recording solution.
-
fraid not , now that would be nice...

I think we will see another model, a contact of mine (very reliable in the past - described in detail the rh10 months before release and very close to Sony in Osaka) told me that Sony had another model ready for release with the RH1 , it was shelved as it was deemed to be detrimental to sales of the RH1. He described it as mainly black plastic with a LCD on the side ,not oled, looked a bit like a RH710 but no AA bump as it took gumstick, it could also upload. This is great news! I think we may see this unit at some point. He also said that Sony are very happy with RH1 sales , which he described as steady and on target.

There is an obvious answer, it is not distorted it is Celine Dion...

Is it present when playing back through sonicstage? I take it you are ripping and not recording real time?
-
In what sense? do you mean volume? , i have gotten used to MP3 (eq +1 +2) on the RH10 but if you listen to the RH1 you will hear the difference, it is clearer and more refined sounding, the bass on the RH10 is quite in yer face where as the RH1 is more defined , rounded and more accurate. The RH1 also has TOTAL silence between tracks, the RH10 is also very good in this area but my Nano has a noticable humm/hiss when switched on. I am going to buy a RH1 at Christmas, i had my mates for a week and it won me over , i will be buying a MC40EL though as Nav is tricky with supplied remote.

I am gonna get a silver RH1, will need to import it, as for legacy units i am looking for a cheap E10 , it looks sweet! -
I would be happy with a RH1 that had artist /title info on unit. 2gb disc would be nice. Nose cancelling cirquit like the s700 series flash player.
-
I think i know what you are going on about, i seem to remember that atrac LP modes are fattened by 20bytes to keep them compatible with SP on MDLP units. If this is what you are talking about it has NO effect on SP sound quality
-
The N10 records to SP 292kbps, where did you find this out?
-
dont think this is correct kestrel, my sp recorded disks sound pretty much the same through my RH10 as they do through my N10. Also what are you suggesting the himd unit does when playing back SP, buffer it , convert it then play back???

Not just an HD amp but according to Sony a improved HD amp... Sounded smmmooooottthhh to me! -
If they are true line outs (bypass headphone cirquitry) then you should not be able to listen to it on headphones , it will be distorted and LOUD.

Spent the whole morning comparing the RH1 (friends) to my RH10 - Result , i want a RH1 now! I compared Atrac3+ 256 and MP3 (equalized on the RH10) and i thought the RH1 sounded MUCH better, clearer , crisper sound with much more precise bass, the HD amp makes a BIG difference imo. Mp3 playback is fantastic , beter than my ipod by a long way. The only cons i found were that i dont like the volume buttons much and the lack of track/artist info on the unit. The pros are lithium battery that properly recharges , better sound , smaller form factor , better battery door , legacy uploads. I am now in the market for an RH1 (and a mc40elk)!
-
get the rh1 - they are talking crap.
-
I know that 1 hr isnt enough to fully charge a nh14wm, so charging again is my only option (it works - i am getting about 12 hrs playback)
-
Using supplied 3v adapter, batteries are in good (one new)condition.
-
Read through other threads and not found similar issue. When i put in a battery (discharged ) it charges for 1 - 1.5 hours then screen goes off, now i know it should take 3.5hrs roughly , i have tried this with all 3 of my nh14wms and they all behave the same?? If i press stop again it starts charging again for another 1-2 hrs?? Maybe i should buy a external charger!
