Sorry, unfortunately you will need to re-encode your music library accordingly with SonicStage 3.2 if you desire 100% non-DRM ATRAC tunes. As far as I know, there's no easy way to remove your existing DRM ATRAC tunes.
-
Assuming the system you employ meets the software's minimum requirement … you should not encounter the problems you’ve outlined. I’m sorry that your backup chore did not materialize as expected. For what's its worth, the option to archive in non-DRM ATRAC3plus is a positive change.

There's a good possibility that one can utilize existing MD remotes such as the RM-MC35ELx and RM-MC40ELK with the new network walkman; note: the new *RM-NWS1’s remote plug is identical to the aforementioned remotes. *The remote for NW-A3000 and NW-A1000.

Of course you can. I store all my non-DRM ATRAC3plus tunes within an external 160 GB HDD enclosure for use between a desktop and sub-notebook without any problem. *Just make sure your external HDD is connected to the desktop/notebook before running SonicStage 3.2. Follow these steps and enjoy your backup chore. 1) You will need to set the "Location to save imported files" within SonicStage 3.2 to your designated external USB HDD. (For example: x:\ATRAC Music) 2) As mentioned in the preceding paragraph, ensure that your external USB HDD is connected to your PC before running SonicStage 3.2. 3) Ensure that you deselect "Add copy protection" feature prior to importing a CD.

And he took my pictures without permission as well. *Update: the unauthorized use of pictures from this gallery were finally removed from the eBay seller’s listing

Welcome to ALC, simon. At this point, only a few ATRAC device (such as the PSP and NW-E99) can fully utilize the new range of ATRAC3plus bit rates [bolded = new] bitrates: 320kbps, 256kbps, 192kbps, 160kbps, 128kbps, 96kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps. Please read this thread for further details. As for quality difference, I can hardly discern any significant difference between ATRAC3plus 320kbps and 256kbps other than the 320kbps seems to be slighly warmer. If you are interested, please review the "SonicStage 3.2: ATRAC3plus Frequency Analysis" I have set up in this thread.

Welcome to ALC! Let's do this again by using dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) instead of mediamonkey. In addition, were you trying to convert an existing Mp3 file into another format? Please elaborate.

Welcome to ALC! To organize individual tracks of the same album: Ensure that you select "Tracks in the compilation albums" (within track properties) on the tracks in question. In addition, ensure that all the tracks of the same album have identical album title. Note: Because by default, SonicStage sort music tracks by artist, tracks of the same album but with various artists will be placed as individual tracks. Thus, you will need to re-organize the tracks accordingly as outlined above.
-
Indeed, the variation is due to the NW-A3000 and NW-A1000 being different in size.

Welcome to ALC! Just to clarify, the limited edition NW-A3000/1000/600 series are identical (*other than having different color scheme) to its regular equivalent; no deviation whatsoever. The reason why the limited editions are somewhat cheaper than its regular equivalent is because they are only available in limited quantities to members of MySony Japan. In addition, members of MySony Japan will have to enter a lottery so to speak that runs from September 8, 2005 to October 17, 2005, in which a set of selected members will get to purchase the limited edition NW-A3000/1000/600 at the published rate by SonyStyle Japan.

Welcome to MDCF! This tuner remote is only functional with NF610 and NF810 and D-FJ787; cannot work (nor fit) in the remote jacks of other units. For further details, please review MDCF's A Guide To Sony LCD Remotes.

Watched a brilliant film-documentary, Downfall; depicting the last of Adolf Hitler in his bunker below the Reich Chancellery.

The "CONNECT Player" is reported to be ready sometime in December 2005 or earlier.
-
Rest assured, even though the advent of CONNECT Player ushered the beginning of the end for SonicStage, it does not imply that all ATRAC based devices dependent on SonicStage will not be supported by the CONNECT Player. Please review this thread at our sister forum, MDCF for further details regarding the CONNECT Player.

Unfortunately, there is no specific information regarding its availability outside Japan as yet.

@ pansypistol: In the future, please post all related software issues in the designated section of the forum. All posts pertaining to your software woes has been moved into this thread. All variations of the NW-A600 series are equipped with FM tuner.
-
That's correct - those are Japanese release dates. Unfortunately, there is no specific information regarding availability outside Japan as yet.

Other than having larger memory capacity, the new NW-A600 Series incorporates new features that include new "Intelligent Shuffle" system, full support of all new ATRAC3plus bit rates, WMA format (will be available upon release of new firmware), jog shuffle control dial and being compliant with the new CONNECT player. In addition, the new NW-A600 also comes in three additional Limited Edition Color version. Please check out the news thread for more details: click here

I remember reading that the battery is of a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery; and it is plausible to assume it is not removable. *Correction: built-in rechargeable battery of the NW-A3000/1000 is removable.
