No player only unit either - was this always the case? I've tried to keep up but it looks like I missed that bit of info....

thirded can I drag files on linux onto the disc as a data device and it still has the ability to play them. Also, battery life/price/specs for the player unit???

Does anyone know when to expect an official Sony announcement about the 2nd gen. units? I want to see the specs more closely (such as battery life for mp3 playing/linux support/drag and drop etc) before I choose between one of these and a cheap nh600. Thanks!
