FS: Five different portable MDs, discs, and accessories, craigslist
roflol replied to roflol's topic in Classifieds
Appreciate all the input - *input* - that's what I liked about the NH600 versus the D. Not sure I ever used it, but I do like options. Anywho, I do fully agree about eBay being a better place to sell and I have an account there, same name as here, but haven't sold there in a long time, the fees and the hassle just got more annoying to me than it was worth. Craigslist was easier and cheaper for what I was doing. I'm not going to make money on these, I already know it, and I don't really care, they just need new homes but, as y'all have mentioned, seems I'm getting lowballers right now on craigslist. I don't mind, the box of MDs is small and takes up little space, they don't bother me and I'm not desperate. $150 is fine for the whole lot if anybody here wants it :} Pittsburgh was practically my second home for my childhood, my mom's whole family is there, and we spent a couple weeks every summer near McKnight Road, one of my cousins still lives there in the house mom was born in. :} Love the incline (easily entertained, yes I am). Sergio, I have a Welsh friend paragliding in Italy right now, the pictures he's posting are really nice. Hope to visit there one day too. Thanks again for the info. :} -
FS: Five different portable MDs, discs, and accessories, craigslist

Even if not interested in buying, would really appreciate help pricing estimates please? Trying to figure out if my expectations are unreasonable or not. Thanks either way. :} -
It's been a long time since I was here last, but incredibly I remembered my login name and pswd We collected six MD players several years ago, transferred a lot of stuff from cassette to MD, played them a while - on vacations, in the car, at home, etc - then just stopped playing them and put them in a box. I'm keeping one player and a few absolutely favorite discs for myself, but the other five players and discs should be getting use if at all possible by folks who know how to use them without consulting the instruction manual. ;} Looking back at my prior posts, the Hi-MD NH-600 is the world version, not the NH-600D, I can't remember what it was I wanted it specifically for but there you go. The remote I've bundled with the N707 may go with the NH-600; I can't tell and I have yet to find a second remote but if I do will update. Some accessories can be mix and match (obviously not the N707 charging dock and wall charger, sorry; those have to stay with the N707). I am very willing to negotiate price (did not list individual player prices, but I will part out); however, I do know how to look up completed eBay auctions for general reference so, y'know, "$40 for everything" probably won't get far (my most recent offer). http://kansascity.craigslist.org/ele/4301186225.html

Sorry, Lissette, these were sold back in February; I know the order of the posts makes it confusing but I haven't any prerecordeds left. Best wishes. :-)

It ended up an *Bay auction, but I feel it merits a feedback here because it started here. I posted a want for an NH600 world version and giki answered. giki made good on all counts - trustworthy in my book. Thanks from a Western girl! Terri
-
Done and done. Sorry 'bout that. I wanted to test recording on the gig disks you sent, but hadn't gotten to it yet. Thanks for the music on them, though. :-D Posted a feedback for you here on minidisc as well.
-
Erm, no need to resort to violence. lol. ;-) Glad you're doing all right, though. I'll let ya know when it gets here. Thanks! Terri
-
Giki, m'friend... trying to reach you with no answer through e*ay. Has the 1gb minidisc been shipped yet, please? Thanks!

He paid as he promised, and threw in a souvenir from the Cayman Islands to boot (okay, it wasn't the balmy ocean breeze I'd asked for, but I guess that wouldn't stay in the envelope). Positive experience. :-)

Adding to this lot Pink Floyd's "The Division Bell" mini disc in original jewel case with original lyric booklet. I'm no expert, but the mini disc and art on it look virtually new. So total of 5 prerecorded minidiscs: Lemonheads "It's a Shame About Ray," Alice in Chains "MTV Unplugged," the Breeders "Last Splash," and Pink Floyd "The Division Bell" in cases with booklets, and Pearl Jam "Live On Two Legs" missing case and booklet. No reasonable offer refused. Will part out.

Or best offer... lol.

Valder has passed on these. I will go through my equipment and see what kind of package(s) I can put together for a new FS post. 'Til then...
-
I've put pictures of these units up here: N505 and N510 for sale Valder has first dibs since he posted the want ad. If Valder is not interested, I will think on it a bit and possibly relist them in a new post. :-)

Is there some trick to posting photos in the gallery? I get to the point where I am able to browse my computer to bulk list and click Upload, then some time passes and I get a "done" screen that's blank but I don't find my photos anywhere. Tried to upload one by itself and same thing happens. I notice somebody else's photos were uploaded yesterday so I'm presuming the gallery's operational again. Thanks in advance for any help. :-)

Shipped media mail in bubble envelope within US, or Priority; your choice.

Thanks, Bob! They've truly gone to a better place. :-D

I have Pink Floyd's "The Division Bell" mini disc in original clamshell case with original lyric booklet. I'm no expert, but the mini disc and art on it look virtually new. If interested, please PM or post where it would be shipped. I'm in the U.S. Thanks! Terri

Hello Valder. I have a gold N505, originally thought it had issues with playing in shuffle mode so relegated it to the stereo cabinet where it saw very little action and I just bought a scruffier-looking N510 to replace it for the car. I saw your offer and rechecked the N505 tonight to give you an honest description, and I find that it shuffles just fine, thank you very much. It does have an issue with the eject - door opens fine but needs a manual assist for another fraction of a mm to get the disc to pop out. It looks very nice, a few light scratches but very good condition. I can send a pic of it to you if you're interested. I have checked the analog-in recording function and it works fine; I've never done PC transfer on any of my units so haven't tested that (don't have any interest in putting Sony's software on my PC, I just record it real-time), but presume it'll work since all the other functions I've tried do. If you're interested, I'm asking $45 shipped. Or if you change your mind on the silver, you could have the N510 I just bought for $15 shipped in the US. I can send a pic of that too. Just lemme know. :-) Terri

Done deal! I have your email.

So there they sit in Australia at minidisc dot com dot au in clearance for who knows how many months now and I've got the money, and yesterday I finally decide I can splurge on myself, but wouldn't ya know it - they don't ship outside of Australia... :-[ I have a 1G disc from a now-gone NH600D that I'd like to try to reuse, but can't do it without a Hi-MD with in-line recording ability to erase it first (it was connected to SonicStage when power went out, so couldn't be read and couldn't be checked back in), and the NH600 appears to be the cheapest option. If I find one from outside the U.S., does anybody know offhand if there are U.S. import taxes/surcharges/tariffs/duties/etc that would add onto the purchase and shipping price? Thanks in advance for any advice. Edit: Obtained the player, disc was forgotten from shipment but promised to come, still waiting as yet. Having no luck getting our old 1G disc to reformat, would really like the disc that was to come with this, please, giki! :-)

Nismo96, Raintheory, thank you both so much! Glad they make those - that's pretty much what I went to bed last night planning to tape together if they didn't. ;-) Found a whole range of prices, lowest on eBay. Went to Wal*Mart to pick up a few things and on a whim went to the electronics dept and there one was for just under $4. Bought one and plugged it into an empty pair of tape jacks, and now my favorite Enya songs are playing just fine over my speakers. I'm so pleased!!! So maybe a better cable (do gold tips make a difference?) would give a better connection, but honestly I just need a reminder of what a song sounds like and my brain takes over from there (I've recorded everything analog at LP4). So thank you again, I am relieved to not have to buy another component, and instead will be selling off the unused double cassette deck and 5-CD deck. I feel lighter already. ;-) GregTheRotter, LOL. With two teenagers, two toddlers, two adults, and three dogs swarming my house I rarely recognize clutter anymore, but those dust-encrusted components residing in my "media cabinet" undoubtedly qualify. Your deck, on the other hand, undoubtedly does not.

After 35+ years of cassette addiction, it took a mere few hours and the transfer of one of those tapes to MD to convert my husband to an MD man. ;-) Now I'd like to be able to play our growing MD collection on more than just the car radios or via headphones. I considered an MD deck, an MD/CD deck, and a even a cassette/CD deck to consolididate our clutter, and decided against them all. I'm trying to keep it very simple - the fewer components the better. So is the cassette adaptor via a cassette deck the only way I can get our NetMDs to play on our home SX-251R Pioneer receiver and speakers, or is there perhaps a cable I can use to connect my NetMD and one/two of the open jacks in the back of the receiver and get rid of the cassette deck altogether? Thanks in advance. Terri (N707/N505/MZ-S1/handicapped NH600D)

Wubba! I realize your fix was written over 2 years ago, before I even knew MDs existed, but thank you for posting it and thank you MD forum for keeping the info here just for me! My daughter came home disgruntled because her NH600D (Christmas present) had suddenly started only displaying "No disc" when she'd put in any disc. I came here and was dismayed that most posts relating to this error message indicated it was likely a dead laser block issue and we were SOL. I was willing to open it up since it wasn't functioning anyway, but just before I was about to get the tools out I came upon this post and raided the medicine cabinet instead for the tweezers to try the MD version of "jiggling the handle" - and it worked! Thanks, from a grateful Mom.

Thank you, dex Otaku. I had seen the techinical info forum but figured it'd be *way* above my head so neglected to look. The info posted makes sense and will help. Thank you very much. And you're very kind to this MD neophyte, for a neophobe. :-)

I've been looking for a way to give the music on my cassette collection a more permanent, stable home. I never did manage to get them onto CDs via PC, something about the software or the cords I was using, or maybe sound card, or the way I was breathing - I don't know and I got tired of trying. I got my kids a couple of NH600d's for Christmas and I liked what they could do, but I needed something that could record analog. I tried to get the "world version" NH600 but this seems to be a phantom unit as all the auctions on eBay stating they were "the world version" were actually NH600D or, in my case, the auction I won the seller didn't really have it and couldn't get it... very displeased. *Anyway*, I researched and figured I could tolerate and afford an N707 (wasn't too whoopy about the Net bit as I don't do MP3s anyway, but couldn't afford the better non-Net recorders in auction) and won one from eBay, and expect it in very soon. I looked at the manual online and it does not specify much about the cord required for recording analog. Is there anything specific I should be asking for at Radio Shack? Is "optical line" the same as the analog line I need? Does it need to have an analog end for the headphone/line out on the cassette player, and a digital end for the MD? Any details are greatly appreciated. I am not techspeak-savvy and am working a long weekend; therefore I'm easily confused, so please be gentle. ;-)
