which ebay site is this guy on?
-
Well in my experience it has been extremely easy with a whole list of consumer electronics including; my canon digital ixus 400 (54% off the best Aussie retail price) and various computer parts. When you are paying half the price for the unit (yes, this is realistic with the top-end models), why would you care about a measely 12 month warranty? If worst came too worst and it became a complete write-off, you could simply buy another one and be no worse off. Welcome to globalisation and the free market. Retail profitability and business viability are of zero concern to the end consumer and why the should they be? Your saying you can't do it any better and that you're hands are tied, well that's fine then - that's just the way it is.

Does anyone have experience in ordering the Japanese model online?

I guess we pay a premium fo living on the ass-end of the world.... and sefu whilst the price reductions on new models in recent years has been great in Australia, this would also be true for the rest of the world I'm sure. Meaning we are in the same position. Most 1st gen hi-MD's can be found between 40 and 50% cheapers at American online stores. I'd hate to imagine what Aussie stores would have sold the RH10 for. What do we reallly care if sony doesn't bring hi-MD here? Most people on this site source them cheapily from overseas sites. I have often bought overseas models to save on consumer electronics (I bought my US playstation in los angeles months before it was released in australia).

There's nothing wrong with $69 DVd players from coles, the technology is getting on and mine has worked for 20 months, no problem and it's loaded with features (will even play JPEGs off a data disc). Even if it broke down after 12 months it was only $69 ffs, who cares about quality and warranty, at these prices the technology is disposable. Atleast that's the attitude I had when I bought it. I made a similar rant about the cost of Aus MD recorders and there's got to be a scandal somewhere in all of this. Maybe Australians would buy more consumer electronics if they were priced in line with other countries.

It has all been discissed at length in the other threads, just have a look and you'll find everything you need.

Ordered a silver rh10 from audiocubes for $392 including shipping to Australia. Will let you know when it arrives.

Is it a "world" model AC adapter? I really want one now, but am waying up whether it's worth the voltage converting hassles.

I emailed them for clarification. Wait and see....

Sure thing, I'm just hyper.

If I was here to charm them I'd be a hooker. Business is business, they are only there to make a profit out of you, why should I be nice and give them a free ride? I can get a bit firey if I feel like I am getting screwed. And a measely 12 month warranty isn't really worth paying double for the unit. What are the chances of anything going wrong in the first 12 months? It's the same with mobile phones they all seem to get problems around the 18 month mark anyway. Some sites offer international insurance and the postage costs are insignificant when compared to the savings.

I don't really the care what their story is, if it means I'm paying more for an identical product, well I won't have any of that thank-you.

Thanks for the plug, but I was looking to import it from somewhere that has a little more competitive prices. I mean the US price seems to be $199, which equates to $Aus248, I doubt minidisc.com.au will offer it for less than $AUS499. Even if you get caught with import duty it still works out far better to buy from overseas. Also, a valid 12 month warranty does not workout to paying double for the product.

Does anyone know of a site that ships these internationally (Australia)? I have been looking frantically, but can't find one.

Higher cpacity discs will allow easy pcm use. Is compressed lossless even popssible?

I'm new to the Md format and am looking at buying an rh910 as soon as they become available. I was disappointed to hear that MD atrac3 recordings are not exactly CD quality, even though you apparently cannot tell the difference. My question is: Since the Hi-MD are essentially portable drives now and mp3's can be dragged, dropped and played straight up. Is it better too convert your CD's to high bitrate mp3's and then drag and drop them or just use atrac3+? I'm a perfectionist. with the new Hi MD formatting of regular 80 minute discs they can hold 305MB of mp3's - yes? Can someone please tell me if the rh910 has the external batt pack add-on like the rh10? BTW there is now no way I would consider getting an ipod. 1. The bottom line is if you are going somewhere for longer than it takes to listen too 1 gB of mp3's then you will be going there by car and you will have plenty of room to fit a few extra Hi MD's in your car. This was ipod's only winning argument. 2. How much more stuff can you do with the Hi-MD mp3 format? Hook it up to an amp and you have a party sound system. 3. have you checked what a 40 GB ipod costs? 4. Do you have 40 GB of music that you honestly can't part with? 5. Ipod's battery life leads me to believe that there is no point in makinf a 40 GB model. 6. MD's external battery pack means no voltage converters when I go back packing. 7. Have you held an ipod? They're heavy and bulky. Not quite as portable as they would have you believe. 8. My girfriend only wants an ipod because she's a techno-idiot and she likes the ads. I think this about sums up ipod's "niche" market.
