I own both an md recorder and an mp3 player. I use my r90 (soon to be rh910) for recording concerts and I use my karma as my walk around music player. With the second gen of hi md units supporting mp3, I could consider them more viable as a music player, but I'll probably keep using my karma with its nice ogg support. I'd buy both if you could. If you cant and you dont plan on using the MD's recording feature- get the zen.

More than anything, I love the fact that you can have 1 gig of storage media for $7. Sure beats the price I pay for compact flash in my digital.

Thanks for the thoughts. Had to put off ordering mine for a few days, but I should have it sometime next week. Can't say a lack of a remote bothers me... I don't dig using remotes with my portables.

I've always gone line in. Sound professionals cardoids along with their mini battery module. I know most will consider this absolutely blasphemous, but I use line in with the auto gain control on. Why? Because it has always given me great results and most importantly- it lets me record without having to wory whether my levels are ok. I used to record with a sharp unit where I could play with the levels on the fly and that was nice, but I just really prefer the auto gain control. All the shows I tape are incredibly loud... the doors, zz top, joe satriani.. its just nice haing the AGC keeping everything in check. That being said, I've never had a problem with a recording being too low. If I went to a quieter concert, I'd definietly consider switching off the AGC and setting the levels myself. edit: one show was so loud that even the AGC couldnt handle it. AGC along with bass roll off was still not enough.... that was a loud one!

Wow... interesting. How is the 910? Edit: Just checked datavis' website and they now have full specs on the 910 and the "released in april" is gone Very cool. I shal place an order tomorrow

So did anyone get any answers? I emailed datavis yesterday, but I havent gotten a reply.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this pretty legit? You said last year they were the first to have your h900... were there any delays or anything in your order? Just curious because I'm planning on picking up a 910, but I really do need it fairly soon... just want to make sure this is a safe bet.
