  1. I do testrecordings sometimes and experiment with diffrent settings. Since i havent tried line-in before i did a test at a loud concert this weekend, got around 3 bars. Its no problem recording it to my computer and normalize it, but when it comes to sound, i thought it sounded a bit noisy. What is the best way to clean noise from a recording ?. When i also listen to it i have became used to using enchancers in Winamp which uses change EQ and also might add surround effect to your recording which i think sound much better. I know some vinycleaning programs can do it for me, but its easier with presets. Any hints/tips ? I listen a lot to peoples examples here at the forum and i wonder, how do you do it to sound so good ?. Practically noisefree some of the stuff. Used a Sony MZ-R410 this weekend + a small binaural mono mic with 3V batterypowersupply. Could the noise have come from my gear ?
  2. mrsoul: OK, thanks. I decided this weekend to go for a boostbox too. Now that the dollar is low in course it felt stupid being cheap + i listen to a lot of different musicstyles. So soon i might give my own review of it:-) I think its good to get the levels up to eliminate as much noise as possible. BTW: did you use the big mikes shown at your site or a pair of smaller ones ?
  3. mrsoul: i guess a lot of amplying afterwards even using line-in creates more noise (when levels are so low from the beginning) some might be impossible to hear, low speech for example. Am i right ?. Also if i have gotting this right with the knob, if i use line-in 18/30 the boost box and mics i could start turning the knob when soundcheck & find where "the limit" into the MD is going to be instead of taking it out and adjusting the levels. Am i right ? Does the knob just spin, or is it sensentive, like a voltage/multimeter ?
  4. mrsoul: OK, great:-), i will listen some more to your files and then decide what to buy, its between the juicebox and the boostbox and the later have the "knob adjusting feature" so never need to having the MD up screwing around adjusting levels + i think its more suitable for all kinds of recording sitautions. Using a batterybox my experiance from reading is that it gets very low level, so you have to amplify it a lot, perhaps not get all details of the show. Am i thinking right ?, have you used a batterybox apart from your new boostbox ?
  5. mrsoul: Please tell us more about the recordings, they sound great :-). There are a few things that i want to know. Did you use line-in ?, what level did you use and if i have got it right the little blue knob can help me to adjust "line-in level" to the MD in darkness so the levels not pass 0 db ?, i am right ?. How did you adjust it just before the concert (so you got the levels right) ? did they soundcheck ?. If i have got it right i can use it as a batterybox only (if i want to). Did you uploaded it by Sonicstage ?
  6. mrsoul: OK thanks, they seem both wellmade and good price. 49 USD is a bargain compared to both SP and MM, the advantage of SP though is the smallness of the SP-SPSB-6. I dont think i will need bass roll off, since my listening experiance is that it lack the bass and is easier to cut out afterwards. Right ? I think its hard to imagine sometimes how big a batterybox can be and how to carry it along with MD, another beltclip maybe would be good:-) Any hints for this ? Ill send a couple of mails to the diffrent places on ordering overseas and see how they reply, it finally seems i am getting my Batterybox.
  7. I have been thinking now for a long time to 1. build my own batterybox or 2. buy one on the net. What is recommended ?, because i must have one to make serious recordings. I feel a bit insecure when i see Sound Proffesionals and Microphone Madness so alike productwise. MM seems a bit better built but that might just be the look. I considered buying one with bass roll off until i heard Giant Squid audios samples, they sounded very thin. Since i mostly be using cardiods i have red somewhere they have a "natural bass fall off". I live overseas and usually likes best to go to a shop and buy stuff, but they dont have either small mics or accesories here. Easy to buy from US companies ?, it isnt/feel easy, but if i make a good deal, i might be able to buy a pair of great mics to.
