if they are gonna mark it more as a pro semi pro thing, where are all the decks and recording equipment. it would be a shame if they do choose to go down that path, as many of the walkman units may dissapear and the ones that stay might get their prices jacked up. like what happened in australia the prices were ridiculous, sony wanted $300 , thats 227 US$ for an NH600, this was when you could buy an RH910 for $200 American and now you can't even buy a himd minidisc in australia. hopefully this wont happen in general to the format

mmmm, i dont really see how you can say that, the ipod UI is very very simple, i sold mine because of the fact i had 3 die on me in the space of 2 years. you could argue that the software UI is terrible, but that doesn't matter because the clickwheel makes it so usable, which is kind of the point. which is also why apple have sold so many million of them i also dont think there are any MDs with a customisable menu, the ipod UI lets you select which options are relevant to you and they are the ones shown mds are superior in many ways but how many mds can find a specific song and play it with 2 pushes of a button. for genghisbunny in case he doesnt remember from the main menu you click songs, use the scroll wheel to find the song, then press play. stephen

my old minidisc has completely broken now, now i want to buy a new mindisc except i really don't have a lot of money at the moment i was just wondering if any one has a himd unit that they want to get rid of im asking for the lower models because i am really strapped for cash atm, but if you think you can provide a himd for a good price please post or pm me too if you are outside of australia i would prefer to use paypal can anyone help me? cheers stephen

yeh like silence i have no idea whats going on, as i can't read japanese i got from the first page to another page http://support.justsystem.co.jp/faq/jspupd...?PID=0273&SC=35 this page has 3 options the first one takes you to a site for ATOK software which you need a liecence to download from my understanding, but there is a mac version for whatever good that is. the 2nd option isan FAQ which is of no help the third option is to allow you to buy Windows or a program for windows from JUST MY SHOP im very interested in the software andicillo could you please provide more help thanks stephen

i was looking at a hi md in a pawn shop, there was a nh 600 in their going for 30 bucks with everything and that would be really awesome to pick up because it has optical and line in because its a recording hi md for 30 dollars, 30 DOLLARS Australian unfortunatly this is because it doesn't work, you place a md inside the recorder and the recorder tries to read the disc and is unable to do so, and it just keeps clicking and clicking and trying to read the disc, is the mindisc completely stuffed what are my options as far as igetting it fixed are concerned assuming i dont have any warranty thanks stephen

it actually is not that bad. it does run, it can play songs, there is a bit of lag from when i click i do get a response, once the click is registerd it does take a second or so before anything happens but that is the way virtual pc is unfortunatly. the only real problem is converting a song from mp3 to atrac3plus, a 20 minute 192 kbps mp3 took more then an hour to convert, this is going to be quie an inconvinience trying to convert my music library to atrac. stephen

I just have a quick question, im thinking about buying a hi md unit but i have a mca so ihave been experimenting to see if it will work for me or not. my sonicstage library in virtual pc on my mac has about 1000 mp3s and i want them as atrac files on my hi md, converting them one buy one takes about 4 minutes each, if on my hypothetical md unit i want to transfer them as atrac, is it converted on my computer and then sent accross, or sent and then decoded n the md thanks stephen

just one quick question Zathura, in some of the news posts their is the suggestion that sony may drop the minidisc line, could sony australias unwillingness to import the 2nd generation minidisc be something to do with the fact that sony won't be selling minidsics at all sometime in the near future cheeers stephen

i just downloaded sonic stage into Windows 2000 runnning on virtual PC, i'm currently converting a 1000 of my aacs into mp3s so i can import them into sonic stage and see how it runs, if its responsive enough . 1.25gb is an awful lot of ram, i hope im not disapointed as i only have 512mb

what sort of a mac are you running, specs and everything im considering buying an hi md and running it through virtual pc l on my G5 as i heard it wasnt to bad you mention uploading was terrible, what is downloading onto your minidisc like thanks stephen

even if they bring them here they'll still cost an arm and a leg, importing a RH910 from mindisco or minidisc canada with shipping costs around $AU310 and at that price here all you can buy is a NH 700 for that price and thats only coz minidisc.com.au takes $170 off the price

its a real shame as i want to replace my MZ R410 but looking at the current prices being asked for in Australia for the current 1st gen models its hard to justify not getting one sent from overseas, but once my 2nd gen minidisc is in Aus, who do i go to if theres a problem?
