  1. Let's do this,I really would like to see that happen ! An while there at it they should allow analog in recording on non hi-sp md too like the first gen unit's! (for me )
  2. Volta zelfverklaarde Mod ofwat ...pro nag hehe
  3. Yeah it's good if you are not planning to use it on a home stereo and car head unit that doesn't support Hi-Md like I was planning. I make music in my home studio, not everything happen's on the pc I have quite some outboard gear too. I wanted to be able to record the line out from my mixing desk straight to MD in sp mode so I could quickly make some recording's to check out on different sound sytem's or take with me in my car or whatever. It's also ideal if I'm just jamming and fiddling with the knobs some interesting thing's can happen you know. Now I'll have to record every outboard piece into Cubase and mix it in software. Then export as wav and encode to fake sp or possibly lp2/4 (my car unit doesn't play lp but my hifi does). Or I could record to MD in Hi-sp live through the desk and then upload and convert to fake sp or lp. Anyway I hope you can see my point here.I don't understand why sony makes their own new hardware incompatible with their old hardware their stabbing themselves in the back.Do they really think I'm now gonna buy a new stereo and car unit too.Maybe the car head unit will be replaced in the near future cos' it''s pretty worn but my stereo is still good as new though it's 4 years old. (DHC-NX5MD) Where can I mail Sony with complaint's I've been looking but no succes. I'm sorry to say but the RH10 is a joke.It look's damn good but it's not a real MD player any more.Sony you failed me and I bought so much stuff frum you guy's blech!
  4. I really have been reading reviews and reading this forum before ordering the RH-10.I knew about it's limitation's and decided they wheren't a big problem to me thinking all the way that it would fully support the classic MDSP/LP modes through analog just like the very first MD players.I knew all the limitation's on USB tranfer. Then I opened the manual and read "the RH-10 can only record in Hi-Md mode". Oh no !!!
  5. The thing that really suck's about the RH-10 is that it can't record real sp even through analog. If I would have know that I would have bought a first gen Hi-md. I don't really need mp3 cos I can convert to atrac anyway with sonicstage. I would happely swap the mp3 capabilities for the capabilities of a first gen. The mp3's get crippeled anyway. With the custom EQ that's not really a problem but still switching between EQ's is anoying. We have to somehow force Sony to put those lost features back in with a firmware upgrade and fix the mp3 playback while there at it,and to overdo it why not ad a line out mode in the EQ too.As long as they don't lock the EQ again and the volume.
  6. Why is every progress in one direction always hand in hand with the opposite in another departement I didn't know the rh10 couldn't record analog in sp mode until today when I had my firt glance at the manual. So can the the nh900 do sp via usb too? Anyway I did the hat trick and turnig the treble up on the custom EQ made for pretty good mp3 playback,I'm now making my first disk and thing's are looking pretty good.
  7. I just thought there where only restriction's on digital transfer and you could do pretty much anything you wanted in analog. Not being able to record the line out from my mixing desk straigt to Standard minidisc is a drawback for me.I can work around it by recording in hi-sp or pcm and then burning to cd and then go downstair's,pop it in my stereo and record it to Standard MD in sp mode but hey that's 3 times the amoun't of work I was planning on.I'm totally fine with using the RH10 on it's own but I wanted to make recording's straight from my mixer for playback on various MD player's. Ah well I'll have to learn to live with it.
  8. -why tha hell can the RH10 not record analog in to a standard Minidisc, that was how I was planning to make recording's for my car stereo. Now I'm stuck with Fake SP for that ugh. -what is the HMDHifi folder for and what happen's if I delete it?

    Line Out !

I was just wondering... are you here all the time, you're alway's breathing down my neck, haha, just kidding

    Line Out !

Well I did not see that topic yet and it is really a shame! I seem to be discovering more drawback's every day I read about the RH10 and am slightly fearing that I will regret buying one. Have you ever tried recording through the headphone out and what was the quality like? Can you actually notice the difference compared to a real line out? Can you make EQ preset's or will I have to reset the EQ manually every time? For such an expensive unit the really have much limitation's

    Line Out !

Hi, I just read that the mz-rh10 has no line out is that for real!? How am I gonna hook it up to my mixing desk I was planning to use it for lot's of recording and playback on the fly as wel as an mp3,atrac player? Please tell me I'm wrong,my mz-rh10 schould be arriving tomorrow
  12. You see that's what I really don't get? Not allowing people do do straight real sp transfer has only 1 drawback. You can't transfer files for your old MD player's with full quality. For the Hi-MD unit itself HI-SP is perfectly acceptable, no problem there. But not being able to make a nice MD for my car stereo wich only play's sp is a real big drawback.I'm lucky to have a HiFi that can record track's straight from a selection of 5 CD's to md at 4speed.(in REAL SP/LP2/LP4)) So if the tracks are on cd and not on pc it's a quick job. But actually Sony is just stabbing themselves in the back making there own platform less flexible and therefor less attractive. Or do they really think they can force more sales by making old hardware incompatible with the new features??? Still I wonder, why did they block sp transfer...

    Flac Codec

Can anyone explain to me what this codec is what I can pratically use it for? I've looked at their website and it's supposed to be a lossless audiocodec? But there didn't seem to be much devices supporting it. Is it any usefull toward's MD I've seen it mentioned in several places on this forum. I thought it was supposed to be some sort of audio zip thet you had to unpack again before playing??
  14. But I still want the mz-rh10 or has that DS-HMD1 got everything the mz-rh10 has? I don't even see a display on that?? Is it even a walkman or is it only for desktop use? Why oh why did they block sp transfer!?? I don't see cdr software having such limitations so what's the use of blocking it in MD. If people want to make illegal copies using 100% quality they'll use cdr's anyway???
  15. I know it's not possible to upload or download sp from old minidisk's. But I was just wondering if anyone is making effort's to create a third party program for that?? Or is it due to limitation's to the original minidisk format that it will never be possible? Are any people working on software to replace sonicstage so we can have as much freedom as possible. Or are are possible workaround's more or less sqeezed out now. I've ordered an MZ-RH10 and should be getting it next week. My living room stereo can play sp/lp2/lp4 so I can use the usb link to download sp2 for that but what about my car stereo. It only play's the original sp track's.Am I supposed to use fake sp for that or can I only use analog recording?? I do know fake sp is lp2 quality but is it intended for that puspose? By the way how dumb is it that sonicstage deletes uploaded files, why do they make it work that way? Oh and I read somewhere that you can only transfer a song to MD 3 times and then it get's blocked? Please someone make a third party program to replace sonicstage I would if I could, but I'm a producer/musician.
