  1. JVC and SOny both have gorgeous bokoshelf systems that support MDLP and i think the JVC even has USB for netmd: Thats the JVC one JVC Model Thats the Sony one Sony Model In terems of online shops, u can try ebay, allot of people buy these thigns and arnt at all happy with them so they sell them there. Goodluck! Leon
  2. I had a similar problem when my computer carshed a while back, i reinstalled sonic stage(th eoriginal taht came with my MD unit) but i had installed it over the old version which seemed to screw up the registry or get confused with it. i Wasnt able to tranfer any music from or to my computer, so i had to do a complete wipe of my system. You can try uninstalling SS, then deleting the sony directory(where it keeps the libarry and converted files) and then try to track down evry registry change in regedit(pleae only do this if you know what regedit is). That might fix it, but you may have to nuke windows. ALso, is the mp3 you are havign dificulty with a ripped mp3 form your cd or is it one you purchased of the net, cause i know when you buy musi conline u need to get a liscence for every track, maybe you lost those!? Leon
  3. wow you went to way to much effort, but thats awsome! when i go to live gigs, that i want to record i sualy bring my trusty Sony MZ-N910 with a Lion stick and an extra AA added on, with a self built 2-way "T" Shaped stereo mic, similar to the one sony sells, but at a fraction of the price(the parts cost $3au from radio parts as if id pay $150 for the sony). i put the MD-unit somewhere on my belt, under a shirt so as not to be seen,(this also is the point on my body which atracts the least amount of shock if i happen to dance a bit hehe) and i strap the mic to my rear jeans pockjet! never had a crap recording! Love the mic on the sunnies though! brilliant idea! Leon
  4. i have a question about the new SS version... i have been using the SS version which originaly came with my Sony MZN-910, i have noticed the new versions and would like to know if i can use it with this unit. its not a hi-md but it is net md. Thanks Leon
  5. My friend went to that game, im not a footy fan but hehe thats funny! when i was in primary school i used to like Carlton. ranting......well........i hate melbourne weather! its been, HOT, warm and ultra COLD and raining and thats just in the last 4 hours!!! Leon
  6. Do as greenmachine sugested, i have been doing this for years! 1-put your MD up all the way, BUT turn off EQ 2-plug it into the line in of your PC/MAC and start recording with the INPUT voloume all the way down! 3-adjust it till the level is good 4-then record all you like! i usualy reencode the wavs to 360vbr if they are live gigs, wavs are too big unless your doing pro stuff. Leon
  7. Tell me about it! i have owned 3 units sony and jvs and they all had screws that were so hella loose that they were almost falling appart. Whenever you get a new MD unit check all the screws after a few months, all the ejecting the units do woble the screws around, and i asume they dont put locktite on them so that its easier to service. Whatever you do, if the unit it underwarantee, dont scratch the unit near teh screws or when you take it in to get fixed they tell you something like "looks like you have been fiddling with the unit". and yeah, i havnt ever been able to find replacement screws, i had an old sony unit that lost 6 screws! i later found 3 of them in my bag using a magnet! hehe! Leon
  8. Thats a pretty cool site! makes searching for new music to listen to a brease!! Leon
  9. In reply to saaron, i have to appologize about my ranting. I see allot of people, mostly friends, who go out and buy Ipods because they think it makes them: a-look cool and b-have a valid opinion about these kinds of devices in my opinion it makes you look like a sheep, and the fact that you are bying it because its so bloody easy to use, look like you know nothing at all about these kind of devices! Yes saaron, im amazed music is beeing listened to and thats great! I hope everyone on the planet has a walkman with some nice music on it. I rant becasue i'm bored and because thats what these boadrs are for, and becasue i feel strongly about a technology i have invested allot of money and effort into! Thanks Leon
  10. My pc snack is usualy a toasted bagel, sliced in half, with jam and a pot of earl grey tea! Usualy folled by a nother bagelwith cream cheese, and depending on what im doing on my computer, maybe a nother one! that reminds me i gota go get more bagels...... Leon
  11. I think its time we clear up a few things here: 1-Who cares what format a player uses, ie..Ipod=mp3, MinDisc=atrac etc... at the end of the day you manage your music files in whatever way you want! How bloody hard is it to convert all your media to one uncompressed, or high wuality system and then use it where ever? All my music is encoded to 360VBR mp3 or 196k mp3. I own a Sony Net-MD that uses atrac and a JVC-MD that is analog in! My best mates have SolidState-MP3Players and Ipods and what do you knwo we all share our music without any difficulty whats so ever! 2-I think that sonys Atrac is altogether an amazing codec! Sure LP4 is crap but who the hell puts 5 hours on a 80min disc and thinks it will sound good?? Atract SP is 48khz, better then CD!!! Atrac LP2 is equal to a 160k mp3 in sound quality as long as the original has been encoded from a higher bitrate mp3! 3-if i see another idiot bying an ipod just because they think it makes them look cool!! ill stab you with a fork!!! 4-Itunes is great, the sony shop is great, if everybody would just learn a few things about the way they walkman works, none of this bickering of formats would be around! Its all because of the multitude of IDIOTS who buy an IPOD without ever even turning on a computer!!!! Sony will always be sony, they wont die, even though minidisc may be on its way out because of point 4. Apple will always change, thats why they are so revolutionary but most of their appeal is just about point 3, it looks nice and is suposably intuitive. All up, just go out and buy a CD for g-ds sake!
