Is it possible to power th new MDs off the side car alone and not the internal gum-pack? I have put a freshly charged NiMH in it and tried taking the gum-pack out and leaving it in and nothing Which is upsetting because i am sure it worked like that before

we need more options. There is no in-between ATRAC3+ 64 and 256. thats a 192kb diffrence. I think we need a 96;128;192;320 Atrac3+ to work with MD. (Ie play back when recorded to them)

I uploaded some music from a CD using my mates computer. I then e-mailed it to myself hoping i could add it to my MDs. Only i seem to have done it as an "m4a" What is this evil they speak of? I think the general public like player that they do not need to change disks in. what will save MD is an easy "drag drpop" system and BETTER ATRAC compression. (ie 64Kbps that compares to 92 MP3) sony needs to lease the atrac thing too so that other developers can use MD- like philips..... I will hate to see MD go. I love its long battery life and the fact i can use it as a recorder. Its better than CD anyday. I am upset at the news, but feel MD just isn't innovitive enough. However this "retro" MD we all love has proven to be much better than I-crap could ever offer.

I think an ATRAC4 (or some new version) will appear. I mean they are not far off it: Atrac 64 is really listnable MP3 64 is not, although i would say WMA is for certain music. if 48 or under can be perfected to be as good as the current 64 ATRAC will really take off. I would also hope for other things: either larger capacity disks: or preferably make the current ones much cheaper. oh and a genre search would be better than a grouping function!!
