You can't argue only with the really great recording abilities of most MD Devices.... These are some of my favorite pro arguments 1. Everybody CAN walk around with an Ipod...... 2. That's not my player ! That's only the remote. Would you help me, finding the rest of it ?? ( I prefer, using this argument only with opposite gender ) 3. I like to be an dinosaur 4. No thanks, i've got my own beer coaster (Taking out an Minidisk out of my Player) 5. Oh NO , i am ultra catholic ! It's a sin, listening to "the forbidden apple". It will only mislead me.

Hello, I tried the search funktion, but found no solution. I like to use one file on my HardDisk for two separate Entries in Sonic stage. Example: I have Album xy with song z...... Now i want the song z also to be available in Album yz....without duplicating it on my Harddisk I's that possible ???? ps. I saw somthing like that with the songs,i loaded from the connect store. They are available in the Album of the interpret and also in the album "erworbene Musik" (German Version)

I think the basic questions here is: What sounds better? The original SP mode with 292 kbps bitrate OR the HI-SP mode with just 256kbps but maybe better codec !!?? This 356kbps Mode ( I think it was 356...) is only aviable in SoS, and to use it, you have to import as Wave. (SoS can at maximum Import atrac with 320kbps, wich is not supported by most (or ALL ??) HI-MD units ) for daily use its not realy suitable. PS: Try one of my Minidisk, And you will never have store problems anymore !!

Think about this situation: Ipod User : "Nana nana naaaanaaa, My apple can store up to 1000 hours of Musik...." Your Answer:"Nana nana naaaanaaa, My Sony can store up to 50 Apples ...." My opinion: Yu can NEVER have enough memory !!!!!!

Hello there, I have the MZ-NH1, too, and i Thing your problem is defenitly based in the Sony earphones (ex 71s). They are realy extrem in high frequenzy range (for my opinion it's too hissing...hope you know what i mean !!). When you want something with good midrange or more "substance" in the lower frequenzies, try out a Koss Porta Pro. My girlfriend has one for her Ipod and use it somtimes. Miles better than the Sony garbage !!!

Hello out there !! I´ve got a problem with my sony mz-nh1 while copying Audio tracks on it via SonicStage. At the start of the first track of every album (->folder<-) there is some audio garbage of maybe the previous song or the song itself. The periode of this "noise" is about 0.1 second or less.(for my opinion). The audio files are riped by Sonic Stage via an LiteOn CD-RW burner and saved as WAV. Then everything was transfered to the Sony MZ-NH1 as ATRAC 356kbps. When i play the wave file there is no damage to be heard. So the error is caused while translating WAV->ATRAC. Does anybody knows a solution or know that problem ??

Ups I think i found the answer by my own: So for all newies (like me ) : When you want to get the best quality, import cd with the wav option. when you connect your HiMD recorder to your PC you can select the bitrate of 356kbps Atrac3plus in the transfer menu. (by selecting "specified bit rate transfer mode" ) Sorry for my fast question. next time, i will try out (try thinking before asking silly questions greeting der Tapir

Then, please tell me where i can switch on this Atrac3plus 352kbps import for Audio CDs in Sonic Stage 3.3 ?? PS: What about this lossless thing ? will it work on an HiMD minidisk, too ??

I´ve got him !!! (MZ-NH1) Here is my question: Is it possible to work with 320 kbps atrac files on an MZ-NH1 Hi-MD recorder, or should i import my audio CDs in just 256 kbps.

Have you ever tried compressing audio data ? normaly the compress rate is 75-80% of the original -> less than 25 % smaler. So you will never get double space (especialy wenn you have compressed data formats like mp3, jpg, etc. ) ps: hope my quote will work

To answer all questions : In the Sony MZ-NH1 the IC 301 is used for A/D Conversion and Mic Amp. The used Chip for that is the -> AK 5356VN-L <- AK 5356VN-L : Its a 20 BIT A/D converter with output for 20 BIT OR 16 BIT (i think) In my opinion, Sony uses only the 16 Bit part to stay compatible with the other ATRAC systems on the market !!! Here is the link to the data-sheet !!! AK 5356VN-L ADC PS: Don´t ask for details, i am no technican Sorry i forgot: Sampling rate 44,1 Khz !!!

Hello, I am from germany and hopefully, you will not laugh about my english I think that a HI-MD can be used as a data storage, depending on how the person wants to use it ? I mean : A) For FAST data transfer ( in order to port it to an other system ) there while be better solutions For longtime storage or daily backup (most often done in the night) for my opinion its perfect Because: The MD like all optical devices is one of the savest data storage products. (nearly undestroyable in magnetic fields, good heat resistance (except maybe the case !!) only the combination of heat AND magnetic fields may cause problems. In most cases, you use 5 up to 7 backup media (for each day...) do it with a stick or HDD-> realy expensive Is one media broken, try to get DDS tape in a supermarket on saturday 4 pm ....no chance. Run to wall mart, buying an MD (or if you are lucky a HiMD) is much easier !!! Another point is the point of accessibility. (hope that this word excists ) How many peaple own a hi-MD drive ? so: when your disk will be stolen, you will be much saver, because only a view people are able to read the media. when a HDD or DVD is stolen, nearly everybody is able to read the media. (in combination with a encrytion you are "double save" with an HIMD !!!) The only problem i see, is the power supply for a HiMD recorder. If it is possible to use both...power connection AND USB (or better USB will power the device) that would be great. but i dont know if this works (Does anybody know ??) thats my opinion for MiniDisc as a Data Storage Device !!! PS: I hope i will get an Sony MZ-NH1 for christmas !!!
