I'm looking for the release of the 15Gb Vibez. If my HD5 doesn't break, I'll keep it. Also, it will be interesting to see if anyone can break the 20GB flash barrier by the end of the year.

Hello All, I didn't want to hijack the "Sony vs Ipod" thread, so I thought I would start a new one. I have HD5 and E507. My songs are compressed at Atrac+ 256k. I use Shure e3. I just purchased the Shure 310 (new e4 model). Here is my dilemma, I cannot tell much difference between the HD5 vs E507 when using either of the headphones. Does anyone here have the older models and any of the newer ones? Is the newer sound noticably different (at 256k)? Thanks Weaves

Any news on the update?

I just had this happen to my HD5. I let it sit over night to wear down the battery. Then I charged it all day. I got home from work and it was as good as new.

Chris, Because of your hard work on here and (more importantly) Minidisc.org, I want to donate to you the following item: http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Tour-Portable-Sp...m/dp/B000BRV60A I bought it last year from Amazon, tried it, but went with the Logitech mm28 instead for my HD5. I have it boxed up, ready to go. in all the original packaging. I did open and try it once. I don't have a PSP, so the Logitech worked better for me. Can you get my e-mail from your system? Just send me one and let me know if you want it free - of charge. If you do, just send me your address as well. Jeff

Kurisu/Chris, Do you read your pm's? I have sent you a couple, haven't heard a response back yet

Hey, With a little price drop, I may want to get this instead of a RH-1 for recording. 4GB with a line in recording? Could be bye-bye to Hi-MD

This isn't made to compete with the Nano. With only 2GB, this is made to compete against the shuffle.

I too am seriously thinking about switching to the dark side Pata. However, I am not a "I need it on Day One" type of person. When my HD5 goes, there will be even better units out at that time. No need for me to buy something when what I have does me fine. Hopefully by then, it will incorporate Samsung flash drive (32gb now, higher with each year). 1) I think this fall/winter will make or break Sony's portable electronic division. They better start "Wowing" people, or they will be even less than they are now. 2) I still think Sony's newest 2GB sport unit is better and more functional than the newest Shuffle. 3) AAC is not a proprietary codec. Apple's DRM'd AAC is very much proprietary. It still amazes me how many people think they are "Buying" their music from iTunes. They are renting it. 4) Most Ipods (older ones) I ever heard sounded bad. However, I would like to get one of these newer ones to run some sound tests for myself.

How did you delete the the files? SS or Windows? Did you try opening up your recycling bin?

Stuge, I wasn't, but this is a tempting offer . Mine is black. Silver does look sweet.

Hello All, I was at CompUSA here in Michigan the other night. They had the Sony HD5 (silver) for $149. I wasn't sure if it was just the demo, or the new ones as well. The demo did look in great shape. Anyone still interested that lives near a CompUSA may want to check it out. Weaves

Here is the link from today's AV watch: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20060420/sony1.htm Not sure how to translate for here. It might be for Japan market only though. Maybe hope to all those with newer players.

You should be able to find the HD5 at either a CompUSA (behind counter) or Sears for a little over $200.

I have the gray Vaja case that is advertised on this sight. It does make the unit quite heavier, which I personally like. I will try to get pic's up later this week.

I believe doing this will increase your battery usage. You will have to test it for us and let us know by how much!

I am having the same problem. Here is the message I get: --------------------------- SonicStage (00000452-9181) --------------------------- The connected ATRAC Audio Device cannot be used with the currently installed SonicStage. To use with the currently installed SonicStage, you must delete all tracks in the ATRAC Audio Device or initialize the hard disk of the ATRAC Audio Device. (Error Code: 000066a3) --------------------------- OK --------------------------- I re-installed SS3.4 from Sony's support website. It even told me I didn't need to re-install. Any suggestions? I downloaded 3.3. from this site. Could I have not downloaded the US version last time? p.s. I get the same message with the NW-E507. Thanks Weaves

How funny is this becoming. I bought the new cd "Life in Slow Motion" from David Gray. I pop it in my PC, and voila, the cd loads the software from itself so I can play it on my pc. The only problem is when I go to import it into ConvictStage (which is what Sony thinks we are) 3.2, it wont allow me to choose the bitrate. It uses the default of 132 kbps. See the following articles: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/ptech/10/04/m...reut/index.html http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/english/faq.html Now go to his website and try to download a song: http://www.davidgray.com/digital.html It says I need iTunes!

Thanks Ishi, I figured it out. The problem was that it wasn't working until I rebooted my PC. Now it works great. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong in editing the file.
-
Sorry, I'm having problems. What application am I supposed to open the autorun file with to make the changes? Thanks Weaves

Ishi, I feel like an idiot. I forgot about Windows system restore. Worked like a charm. Weaves

Ishi, Thanks. I did find the fringe folder and did find the images in there. I was just hoping to avoid re-assign all hundres of images. I thought there was a way to re-assign the G: drive back to F:. I may remove the driver(s) and see what happens.

Hello, My album art has disappeared in SS 3.2. I think I know what happened, but I need help fixing it. Here is what I did right before it all happened: 1) I store all my music and video files on a 200GB Maxtor USB drive (always was F: drive). 2) When I import my album art, I assign it to both the album and songs. 3) I was about to update the firmware for the NW-HD5, so I had both SS3.2 and the hard drive turned off and then I plugged in the NW-HD5. 4) When I plugged in the NW-HD5 to the USB port, it assigned the drive of F:, I updated and unplugged. 5) However, when I went to turn on my USB drive, it was now the G: drive. 6) The weird thing is that I can play and see all my albums and songs. The art is even displyed when playing songs. However, the art assigned to the album level seems to be lost. 7) My guess is that SS3.2 is looking for the album art on the F: drive and can't find it. Does this seem right? Also, how do I change my USB drive back to F:? I tried restarting with it off and turning on, but now it is always G: Any suggestions? p.s This is the first SS problem I ever had, it was working great for so long.
