  1. I had a little fiddle with the RH1 today at Sony Central. A general gist of the unit: DAMN LIGHT, sounds great and still comes with a single line remote . That 'dynamic normaliser' feature it comes with makes the music sound even louder although it doesnt look like you can actually use it in conjunction with the EQ or surround sound modes which is kinda crummy if you dont have the best sounding earphones (like I do). The black is of course very slick, and the unit really doesnt feel like it's constructed of metal (even if the top and bottom sides really are). the OLED display on the unit is very fluid and responsive especially with the spectrum analyser. Definately a great little unit, and Im certainly glad I pre ordered one. Those of you who are wanting to get into location recording will love this unit. Those of you strictly wanting to use this for music playback are going to wanna buy that 3-line remote (rm-mc40elk) which can be bought for around $60-75AU off ebay I believe. Which reminds me, those of you who are complaining about the lack of external battery adaptor can also buy another genuine sony brand new (according to the ebay seller anyway) li-ion battery off ebay fairly cheap as well (approx. 30AU). Whether or not they're brand new or genuine is another matter but at least the option is there. ....back to my thumb twiddling....
  2. I certainly hope so. Me watching Hi-MD being scraped in Australia was sort of giving me the impression the MD was now definately on its way out, and then Sony releases the RH1 (of which Im in the queue to receive from minidisc australia , ahh the waiting game *twiddles thumbs*)
  3. This is true and uploading is a godsend for the MD format, but if you're going to implement a new feature it'd be nice to implement it without any problems. Im sure a company like Sony who INVENTED minidisc could code a compression algorithm that does not infact add gaps or offset track marks. Then again there can never be a perfect system, otherwise the company would go out of business.
  4. I gave a call to Sony HQ's sales department, and they gave me a release date of 20th July. Go figure.
  5. *sigh* Well I am now officially in the queue, and I hate the waiting game. Hmm I had a chat to a guy from Sony Central in Chatswood (Sydney) and he said they were getting them on the 7th July, perhaps Sony stores get them before other retailers? In anycase Im calling Sony tomorrow about it....

Im pretty sure that's a mistake. The only tracks you cannot transfer to the computer through USB are ones downloaded through a netmd device, all recordings done in real time should be unrestricted.
  7. So that being said, hypothetically speaking if the RH1 doesnt come with a 3 line remote, what are the chances that it will still support one fully? Gah I hate all this waiting!
