  1. Every time I think about selling my DH-10P, I just can't. It's a thing of beauty. Every time I look at new digital music players, I think about my beloved DH-10P and smile. Nah, I can't do it. Minidisc, despite its quirks, is just too awesome. I just need to buy more HiMD discs. I have three so far; I picked another one up (ONE!) of the shelf of a Fry's the other day with a gift card.
  2. One of my friends is fond of passing out-of-print recordings on to me via FLAC, but so far the only way I've found of transferring tracks to lossless format is to expand the FLACs to WAV files, import them into SonicStage, categorizing them along the way because the tags are gone, then convert them to ATRAC Advanced Lossless. I was wondering if there's an easier way to keep things lossless but spare the tags?
  3. So Sony was just trying to charge more money when they came out with the 'premium' white Minidiscs a few years back?
  4. I'd be much happier if all the record companies embraced FLAC. Full quality, no DRM, and you can do whatever you want with it.
  5. Had to look for it. That thread is here.
  6. Hey, me too! Very convenient that way. I also take my 900 to the gym with me (when I get around to going there) because I don't want to sweat on anything expensive.
  7. TBR, I just got mine last week! It's even better than you described. What an amazing little gadget!!! I'll post a review on my blog soon.
  8. I DID IT! Or, rather, Sony did. I thought I'd give it a shot, and sent in my malfunctioning disc. Sony did not fail to impress. Within two days, I had a brand new Hi-MD disc, the new transparent blue ones, along with a nice apologize-for-the-difficulty letter. I am impressed. Wow.
  9. Hi Blue Raja! Great review; thanks so much! With the rise of inexpensive mp3 players, and my never-ending frustration with SonicStage quirks and crashes, not to mention the conversion time (I use the MZ-NH600D entry-level model), I had been contemplating the abandonment of my longstanding love for Minidisc. Even though this unit still requires SS to upload MP3's, it sounds like, from what you say, that the camera function and other features, not to mention the sheer awesomeness (is that a word?) of the H-MD format, seem to outweigh the 'cons' of SonicStage or the lack of ability to just copy the files over. I am contemplating the purchase of a DH-10P, as the prices seem to be good and Amazon.com has free shipping on them right now. Thanks very much--you've given me another chance to love Minidisc.
  10. Thanks very much for the review and the pictures!
  11. Well, yes, but you're still going to have to do the transfer SOMETIME--sooner or later you're going to feel the pain of waiting. I really wish Sony had given us some faster transfer options on these...
  12. Shock and horror! Why would anyone do such a thing? Oh. OK, thanks! Yep, but I was wanting to skip SonicStage's import stage the first time in order to get the tracks to my player quicker. Maybe I just need a faster computer that can process the conversions within SonicStage quicker.
  13. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I didn't find this exact topic anywhere. I have Simple Burner 2.0 and SonicStage 3.4 installed on my computer at home. I want to import tracks from CD using Simple Burner so that I can get them to my recorder (a Sony MZ-NH600D) quickly. Later on, I would like to be able to transfer these recordings back to SonicStage so I can have them backed up on my hard drive. Trouble is, it won't let me! It doesn't give me any errors, but it transfers nothing and refreshes the disc as if I HAD transferred something. So what's wrong here? Is there some sort of ATRAC problem that can be solved/tweaked/etc., or am I stuck with having to delete the recordings and transfer them using the slow method (SonicStage->hard drive->recorder)?
  14. Heh. Thanks for being bored. I may try that. Thanks for letting me know. Hmm, on their site they have the same phone number and this address: I'll probably call the number first, if I DO try to get it replaced. We'll see.
  15. Sigh, probably right. Haven't heard of any sort of warranty on these. Can anyone verify this? I don't know where my documentation for the player is, or if it would be on there.
