How exactly do you embed it? Is it when you use the Tag&Rename application you mention below? All of my cover art files are jpg. The few songs I've bought in iTunes I've had to re-record, saving as mp3 in order to use in SS. Because I've created the mp3 all tagging information and cover art is added manually. Even if the cover art was embedded with an iTunes song it can't be used in SS because it won't import it due to DRM. SS automatically points me to Amazon (the Canadian version) to grab cover art. If there is no automatic way to do so within SS then I might as well search for the CD at Amazon to start with and avoid having Gracenote mess up my tags. SS won't let you search for cover art without using their "get CD info" first. I'm going to take a look at the application you mentioned. Thanks. LOG

See my post in another thread. I'm having the same problem! LOG

I'm glad Juli started this thread. I'm having problems with cover art as well. Shinji wrote: Based on what I've read here it seems as though my cover art is working differently. It never transfers automatically. It can be attached automatically - this happens with almost all the podcasts I've imported/transferred using SS. First I should add that I'm using SS 4.3, installed on top of many other versions (perhaps as far back as 2.0 on this particular computer) and I'm in Canada. Apparently the latter tidbit is an issue. When I import CDs into SS it automatically "grabs" all the info I'm interested in (title, artist, album). But there is no cover art so I must manually attach that. If I right click on a highlighted track the menu offers "Get CD info" and "Search for cover art/more info". When I try to use "Search for cover art/more info" to grab the cover art I'm prompted to "Get CD info". This can be a bit annoying since the entries from Gracenote are often not as accurate as what has already been added when I imported the CD. Then I still have to "Search for cover art/more info" to add it. When I do this I get this: Unfortunately there is no option for me add this cover art from here. There is no right click menu or add button. When I click on the "more info" button on the bottom I'm linked to Amazon.ca. From there I can save the cover art to my hard drive, then manually add it using the "add" link on the "properties" menu. Even after all that it doesn't always "stick" with the song in SS. This happens regardless of whether I've used Gracenote to add the song info or it has come right from the CD imported into SS. My questions are: 1. Is there a better/faster way to add cover art? 2. Is there some reason why it doesn't stick? Thanks in advance. LOG p.s. I just saw this similar post.

SonicStage 4.3: How I can transfer SonicStage library to a new machine?
LuLu replied to cookie7772's topic in Software
Don't delete anything until you have your new computer up and running with SS installed and the library transferred! If the files are backed up on the external hard drive using the SS backup library tool then install SS on your new computer and use restore library. The most songs I've had in my library is about 500 so I can't speak for dealing with 16,000. I would imagine the only issue is limitation of the media you chose to backup onto. LOG -
Once you deleted them from your hard drive you can't transfer them back. This is because of the format they are converted to by SS when transfered. LOG
-
Hi Juli(e), Not sure why this is happening. I've used the backup tool to move my library from my desktop to laptop many times without issue. When you restore is it on the same computer or another? If another, are they using the same OS version? If SS can play/transfer them from this location then it can backup from this location. Depends on how you plan on using it. If you ever want to use SS to play songs on your computer then you don't delete the files. If you want to save space on your hard drive go ahead. You might want to move them to another directory before deleting as a test and use the restore function to check if it works. You do not need to plug any USB device that I know of into the same port. Your computer will find it. I think the letter drive assigned is 'virtual' for USB devices (unlike the C drive, which is fixed) and the naming depends on what order you plug things in rather than the location of the port on the computer. Someone else with more knowledge of these issues pls jump in if I'm wrong. Where the cover art is stored on your hard drive? How are you dragging and dropping (from where to where?). Try adding it using SS instead of dragging it. I have some mp3 files that just won't take cover art. LOG

From Engadget NWD-B100 "Looks like Sony finally took the wraps off its Network Walkman NWD-B100, which we first heard about months ago. The featherweight player is landing in Europe come August (sorry, no US release info as of yet), and has a 3-line color LCD, comes in 1GB (NWD-B103 / B103F) and 2GB sizes (NWD-B105 / 105F), and features an FM tuner, mic / voice recorder, up to 12 hours battery life, and perhaps best of all, it's now ATRAC-free (MP3 and WMA only) with mass-storage mode, meaning you can officially throw out your copy of SonicStage. Sony, welcome to 2007 -- we could almost kiss you." Click link above for pics. LOG

I have one but rarely use it. The unit connects to your HI-FI using a cable on the back. LOG
-
There's only the standard earphone jack. Unfortunately this is not the same as line-out. LOG
-
There is no line-out feature on this unit. Sony has been releasing bookshelf HI-FIs (the CMTU1BT being the first) that offer direct USB connection. I can connect any of my units via USB and have them play through the stereo that way. Alternatively you can use the BCRNWU3 and connect the NW-80X unit to your HI-FI. LOG

Maybe we should start a wish list of things we would like fixed/added on the next generation of these units? A few suggestions to start us off: Similar functionality for all media: Ability to delete videos directly from the player like audioIncremental FF on video like with audioOther features: FMStop (not pause) buttonBookmark specific location on audio/video not just an individual audio fileImage converterPlaylists (like in SS) for videoKeyboard commands (e.g. pressing key delete will remove highlighted files)What else? ? I had heard about this flexible OLED before. Now there's a video of it online. Basically it is a razor thin display screen, so thin it can be bent without damage! D/L the video at the following link: Sony Flexible OLED under the heading "Sony Flexible OLED July 18". If anyone can translate what is being said in the video please do so and report back. LOG

Are you sure you have the song/podcast paused? There is a huge difference in speed if you FF while the song is still playing (as in very slow) and when you have it paused then FF (as in fast). When playing a video there is an escalating FF. In this pic I've fast forwarded a video presentation x2. You can do x1 and x3 as well. You can see the 2 indicated to the right of the >>. I can't get this to work in a podcast though. Can anyone else? LOG

Yes but how was your arm after holding it for 6 hours? LOG

Maybe your location (India) has something to do with this? I'm not sure about reception in other countries but it has already been pointed out that units sold in Japan have radios that will only work in that country. Does anyone know if a radio for a unit built in the US would work in India? LOG

Hi Stuge, I don't think so. I'm pretty happy with my CKHNWA800 Hard Protective Carrying Case. Anyone else? LOG

Hi all, While poking around eBay I found this link to a company called i-nique selling leather cases for the NW-800 series. NW-A800 third party case Scroll down to see the pictures. I can't be sure but it eeems to me as though there is a plastic cover over the screen, unlike the similar leather case by Sony. It comes with a lanyard and a loop ring. LOG

You can see some pretty ugly walkmans (the old cassette kind) at the Sony Walkman Museum: Sony Walkman Museum LOG

Please let us know if you get it to work or end up returning it instead. LOG

The BCR-NWU3 works with the NW-A800 series, not sure what the SCR-NWU3 is. Can someone clarify? LOG

I always had a soft spot for my last cassette Walkman, the WM-FX673. I also thought the Sony NW-500 series (and the other in that line, the NW-400) were just stunning. LOG
