Are you transferring stuff from a CD or individual MP3 files? It may have to do with what version of ID3 Tag your files are stored in. You can always add them manually by getting the cover art from Amazon. See this post.
-
Not that I advocate this but have you tried Sony tech support for this? Also have you tried installing the image converter on another computer and transferring?
-
Hi Juli, Yes, or use copy and paste if that is what you are more familar with. Make sure both files are in the root directory. You may need to re-boot to see the icon appear.

I've downloaded some video clips through iTunes that were from NASA. They had subtitles and I could read them no problem (I have the A-806, which has the same screen size). You have to turn off the information that appears across the bottom of the screen (the progress bar, the battery indicator and the running time), which is easy enough to do.

I've used AVS DVD to Go. I converted then transfer films from DVD to my A806. I've done it about four or five times. I have to full length films on it right now. What settings are you using?

Hi...I just got back to this now. I tried to import songs into iTunes and convert the ID3 tags back to version 2.3. This did not always work so I went back another version to version 2.2. This worked. However, not all my songs, once imported into iTunes have the 'Convert ID3 tags..." option availlabe (no clue why) and iTunes only allows you to import ONE song at a time. I have about 200 that need covert art added and tag clean up. Therefore I'm looking for a tagging program that (1). will allow me to save the changes in V2.2 so they are compatible with SS (2). will embed cover art (since this is mainly why I'm fiddling with the tags in the first place). Any suggestions? (the new dap models that don't use SS are looking better and better!). Thanks in advance.

I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I've used AVS Video (www.avsmedia.com) to convert . What about screensavers/virus scanners working in the background that may have caused a hiccup during the transfer?

Yes, clearly they were in some kind of a hurry. The NWZS618FS with 8GB Memory was listed as having 4 gig (no mistake in the price though). They've fixed that. There was another error but I can't recall it right now. Just noticed something else. The earphone jack on the NWZ-SA61X series is at the top.

I wrote too soon! The NWZ-A815 in black is now available at Sony Style Canada.

Is the only difference between the A800 series and the new A810 that you don't have to use SS with it? The two units look identical in terms of size and button location. Could this mean that the architecture/innards is the same? If so, then I would think a flash update eliminating the need for SS should be available for the A800. I don't care either way about SS. I have to admit after spending all that time getting the cover art loaded I'm kinda impressed with the power of SS. It is more robust than I though (still poor usability though). The A800 is still for sale in Canada. I guess this is why the A810 is not available. Maybe they are going to wait until all the A800 units are gone. They have been using them in a back to school package deal that is bundled with a laptop, camera, bag, etc.

Does the film you download work on your PC? Maybe you are trying to transfer something that is corrupt.

It's up now. Here's the link for the NWZ-B105FB at the Canadian Sony Style site. http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/P...h=n46881n100302 I like the 3 line display. I miss it from my NW407, which is mothballed. I've been using a NWE005 for every day music/podcast use. If the B100 came with larger storage I would consider it to replace my NWE005. It's only $99 - a great deal compared to the prices for everything else they've released.

Here's the press release from Sony Canada on the NWZ-A810, NWZ-S610 and NWZ-B100 http://www.sony.ca/sonyca/view/english/cor...8FEA12662.shtml SONY UNVEILS NEW WALKMAN VIDEO DEVICES TORONTO, August 30, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATERELEASE New Models Support an Open Standard Toronto, ON – August 30, 2007 – Sony today took the wraps off two new Walkman® players that not only support audio but video and photo as well. The new NWZ-A810 and NWZ-S610 series of Walkman digital music players will support an open platform, providing more choices for downloading and managing music and video collections online. “The new Walkman video players offer great resolution, a bright screen, high-quality sound and a long battery life,” said Gabrielle Holmes, director of marketing, Personal Audio at Sony of Canada. “With a new open platform, we are providing Canadians the choice to use multiple music sources.” The devices have a standard user interface that makes it easy to enjoy songs, videos or pictures. For crystal-clear image quality, the video players have a large Quarter Video Graphics Array (QVGA) LCD screen that displays video at 30 frames per second. QVGA is a display mode for small screens in which the resolution is 320 pixels vertically by 240 pixels horizontally. The battery life allows up to eight hours of video playback for the NWZ-A810 series and nine-and-a-half hours for the NWZ-S610 series. The battery also provides up to 33 hours of music playback for both series. The players support security-enhanced Microsoft Windows Media Audio (WMA), as well as non-secure AAC and MP3 music formats, plus JPEG files for photos, in addition to the AVC (H.264/AVC) Baseline Profile and MPEG-4 video codecs. Users can download movie trailers, music videos, podcasts and video clips from the Internet and use readily-available shareware to convert the clips for use with the Walkman video players. Music and Videos in Your Pocket The top-of-the-line Walkman video players (NWZ-A810 series) have a 2-inch QVGA (320 by 240 pixels) LCD screen (measured diagonally). This series of players come with higher quality Sony earbuds (model MDR-EX082). Designed with a younger demographic in mind, the NWZ-S610 series has an 1.8-inch QVGA (320 by 240 pixels) LCD screen (measured diagonally) and includes an FM tuner with 30 pre-sets that makes it convenient to listen to radio on the go. The Walkman video players store up to 1,850 songs on the 8GB models, 925 songs on the 4GB models, and 440 songs on the 2GB models, for songs an average of four minutes in length at 128kbps in the MP3 format. Digital Music 101 For those who just want music sans video, Sony is also introducing the NWZ-B100 series. The audio players include USB direct connect, a three-line color LCD display and an FM tuner. They feature up to 12 hours of battery life. With FM recording capability, it is easy to capture and play back radio programs. The NWZ-B100 series also has a voice recorder function with a built-in microphone for taking notes or recording sing-alongs to favorite tunes. In addition to supporting easy transfer of non-DRM content via drag and drop, this dedicated audio model will also support most subscription services. The players store up to 485 songs on the 2GB player, for songs an average of four minutes in length at 128kbps in the MP3 format. Sony’s Open Digital Music Environment All of the new players are compatible with security-enhanced Windows Media Audio and support most subscription music services. The new players are also among the first to carry the Certified for Windows Vista (also known as “PlaysForSure”) logo. “With this initiative, Sony is debuting an important option for digital media players as it opens new doors for a rich digital experience,” said Dave Wascha, director of Windows Client Product Management at Microsoft Corp. “Consumers will be pleased that the new Walkman products carry the Certified for Windows Vista logo and will take advantage of the new technologies available in this Windows platform. Those who purchase this Walkman player can rest easy knowing that the product has met explicit standards of reliability and quality.” To help manage digital music libraries, the new Sony Walkmanvideo players come bundled with Microsoft Windows Media Player 11. This familiar interface makes transferring music truly intuitive. Sony offers a range of accessories (sold separately), including a Bluetooth audio transmitter and accessories that allow consumers to wirelessly release their music on the move. With these new Walkman players, Sony has widened its digital music environment to support Windows Media Technology. This gives customers greater flexibility in their music software approach. As a result, Sony will be phasing out the CONNECT music service based on Sony’s ATRAC audio format in North America and Europe. Specific timing will vary by region depending on market demand, but will not be before March 2008. Got the same email from Connect (I'm in Canada) this morning.

The web site (http://www.popgadget.net) associated with the link I posted has a subtitle of "personal technology for women". They provide reviews for gadgets for women. <<Men on this board reading this message you may want to avert your eyes>> If you scroll down on the main page you will see an article for "Toe Stretchers: Cozies for your tootsies". I've found links and info for all kinds of cool lady-stuff here.

Have you seen the Ducati Flash Drive by Sandisk? BTW, you might like the site in the link - "Popgadget: Personal technology innovation for women". Beats me why they wrote a story about a USB stick shaped like a motorcycle tank though!

I can change the language (including the option of esperanto!) but unfortunately not the country. Thanks for your help. LOG

Not sure if I'm following you here. Do you mean album as in a collection of songs like a CD or do you mean album as a way to have a collection of songs associated together in SS? If the former I think it depends on what information you have entered under 'album'. If I have the songs from a soundtrack, for example, that has different artists but the same album name (and you don't change this) then they won't be scattered across different albums regardless of whether the compilation box is checked off. You're right and this is annoying because I have already painstakingly fixed up the title/artist/album information. I can see why SS directs me to the Canadian version of Amazon. That way I'm more likely to find the cover art of the CD I've actually purchased. For example I was using the drag and drop method to add cover art to all the Blondie songs I have in SS from the "The Best of Blondie". But I could see that the cover art did not match the CD cover I owned. Sure enough another version was at Amazon.ca. So back to adding it manually to ensure I get the cover most familiar to me! LOG

I get it now (and I doubt I would have ever guessed to do that if you hadn't told me!). So there is some value in potentially mucking up my CD information by letting SS use Gracenote before using the "search for cover art/more info" option. Does this mean the cover art is saved on the hard drive somewhere as well? LOG
