tartan
There was one extra thing in the contents of the minidisc box, a black cord with small "light bulbs" on each end. This wasn't listed in the contents of the box and there's no instructions on its use. Where on the player is it put into ???
dex Otaku
That's an optical cable - which, at one end, has a standard TOSLINK connector and at the other has one made to fit the 3.5mm line-in (opt) jack on your HiMD. If you have any digital audio equipment with optical digital outputs on them, you can use this to record directly to your HiMD.
tartan
Tried pushing it into the "line in" but it doesn't go in easily and must be jammed in. When taking it out, the "bulb" fell off. Not made any recording with that cord yet, just curious where it goes.
Qwakrz
Bulb!!! You did remove the plastic cover over the end first didn't you????? The end should look the same as a standard headphone jack, except that it has a solid metal end, plastic shaft & a small hole in the very center with a clear cable in it. (hold the other end, without the cover on, upto a light source and you should see the end glowing)
xispe
damn it, now you have your line in jack with a plastic cover inside... :| . Now you probably can't record from an analog source, or a digital source, because the cover is stucked inside the jack. If it is too deep, i don't even know how you are going to take it out... watcher666
oh dear! To remove the plastic "bulb" from your optical jack (if it is stuck), try getting a cotton bud, removing all the cotton then dip the end in super glue! Next, VERY carefully put it inside the jack and to the bottom of the plastic bulb, taking extreme care not to touch the sides of the jack itself. Wait for it to try and then gently pull! Hopefully the bulb will pop out!
Christopher
Do NOT use super glue. Try a paper clip first.
watcher666
Well, i did mean as a VERY last resort! Sorry, i should have pointed that out before! But yeah try the glue in absolute desparation only!
tartan
The good news is, the cap fell off after the cord was removed so it isn't jammed in the inlet so nothing is wrong. Never new that the bulbs on the ends were only caps and not part of the cord
