I would like to upgrade to hi-md...but the complaints I read in the hi-md forum are always in regard to sonicstage. Is this because realplayer does not work with hi-md? MrToad Posted December 17, 2004 Report Share Posted December 17, 2004 Hi bland10000 SonicStage will import files stored on the hard drive provided they are wma, wav, mp3, m3u, or of course the SS formats oma and omg. If you have stored using Real in one of these formats you will not have a problem. If you have stored in one of Reals native formats such as Real System Media you will need to convert to one of the above formats. I'm not a "Real" user so don't know if you can use Real or another app to convert. Can anyone advise? One common complaint about SonicStage is when ripping a CD to the library it can only play the track or tracks from the CD as it rips. It can't play any other tracks from the library. Although Real Player can't play omg files Windows Media Player can play omg tracks so you just need to select them from the Packages folder in the SonicStage folder if you want background music while ripping. SS multitasks - it converts and transfers at the same time while Real can do only one task at a time, so transfers take twice as long. vova Posted December 20, 2004 Report Share Posted December 20, 2004 It's not really a problem, it's the way Real operates - it converts a file to atrac, then waits for it to download to MD, then converts the next one etc. SS uses the download time to convert the the next track, so on my PC at least the mp3>atrac conversion runs much faster than the MD can write to disc Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Realp. has given me only one problem, it doesn't like working with recorded files from the British label, Hed Kandi. Also RP has not released driver update to run hi-md, so actually two problems. I realize that people who have ss run trouble-free are probably not going to post as much as people who are having trouble with ss. How is ss for you?
