Christopher
Welcome to the forums. This doesn't happen very often, so I have alot of interest in this matter. Anyway, have you tried recording in realtime and then seeing if it occurs? Like with a mic or via an analog connection? If it occurs there then I think we'd have a better idea of the issue. tytt
I dont know...thats the problem. I'd have to say most likely but im totally not sure. Oddly enough, its getting worse. Maybe i should get it repaired? (isnt that a big hassle?)
A440
If it's still under warranty, and it's not obviously dented or something from being dropped, then have Sony fix it. Go to their website and find a local service center or an address to send it to. I had an MZ-N707 repaired under warranty: took it to SonyStyle in NYC, they sent it somewhere, and it was mailed back to my home within two weeks, no hassle. mgdimo
What about those little black barrel shaped doo-dads they send with the unit? Are those supposed to manage static?
jadeclaw
Yes. They do remove static and other noise induced by Radio transmitters and equipment powered from the same line. I suggest, that you try them out, when you hear things, that shouldn't be there.
streaml1ne
Just don't use them on the TOS-link cable. You'll snap the fiber =) NO I haven't done this, I can just picture people doing it :-D
Tomdiaz
I have a MZ-NHF800. I have just take it out from the bag. it is completly new, and i find that i can listen how the engine of the minidisks works... through the hearphones. I was so sad when i discovered such NOISE. It was like static, but more like data and disk working. After some hours of sadeness, I unplugged the "remote control" from the minidisc, and i connected DIRECTLY the hearphones (SONY MDR-7506). And that was the solution. That remote control has problems with the static and with the minidisc engine, it captures everything But now i know how this thing works. Do you have any other idea for having a solution to this?
atrain
Tomdiaz how long ago did you purchase your md? afaik that is not something that should be happening & i would consider returning it to the place of purchase for a replacement
